When Boko Haram bombed Police Force HQ in Abuja, Hafizu Ringim paid the ultimate price;:he was sacked. Now high profile Military installations, bases and barracks are routinely bombed like mare Boys Scout outposts, yet no one is asking for the head of the Chief of Army Staff. And why are only a segment of the country always get sacked when any Army formation is bombed. Just imagine the kind of noise that will be blowing if the COAS is a Yoruba or Hausa man, and to add more if he is a Muslim, he will have for long been tagged as a boko haram member.

The Nigerian Army in reaction to last Sunday’s terror attacks on St. Andrews Military Protestant Church and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, has removed the Commandant of the military facility, Air Vice Marshal IA Kure. Also removed from office was the Commander, Infantry, Maj. Gen MD Isah. The Director of Defence Information, Col. Mohammed Yerima, announced the changes in an email to our correspondent on Saturday. Yerima said the removal of Kure and Isah were fallouts of the bombing incidents in Jaji. According to him, the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Obrahim, took the decision to replace Kure with Air Vice Marshal Osim while Major. Gen KC Osuji was also appointed in acting capacity as the replacement for Isah.

From Arunma Oteh to Stella Oduah and now to Azubuike Ihejirika.

We sabi una and we know who the drummers to whose tunes you and your likes are dancing are.

This will fail as other plots before it. The commander in chief is not as daft as you the op is.

Who are those doing the bombing?what are their reasons?where are they from?
Imagine a scenario where igbos are doing the bombing across military formations and mosques a few churches and other infrastructures.
Who are those collaborating with the attackers??.

Please let's face the facts here. Ihejirika has been largely incompetent in handling the hydra-headed security challenges facing the army and i believe he has to be sacked ASAP.

the north has used ASUU to blackmail Jona, yet people are not complaining now you want to overthrow his govt by the military action if Ihejirika is removed, but it will not work so sorry about that.

The attack that led to dismissal of IGP Ringim happened in the last place expected of such.So by the time they attack military headquarter in Abuja, then Ihejirika will be sacked. For now,the commanders of the the barracks attacked will be questioned and those found culpable of sabotage or neglect of duty will be sacked. Ihejirika will not be everywhere. Military has units and those units performing below minimum will always be punished.
Meanwhile, the attack took place in police barrack, army barrack and heavily in Air force base. so,if you call for Ihejirika's sack,it inadvertently means that Chief of Air staff and Inspector general of police will be sacked too.

@OP u have made this thread about ethnicity and religion from the beginning so let me help u more.

Ur brothers in the army are helping ur dumb jihad brothers in Boko Haram. Maybe we should start by sacking all ur brothers in high posts in the army first. Especially those ones that have blackened foreheads. By the look of things, it seems we cant trust them anymore.

The foregoing is just to show u the stupidity in whipping ethnic and religious sentiments in making otherwise reasonable suggestions.

here. is the difference rimgim's office where he commands, the police head quarters was attacked and the attackers succeeded and got away with it... The base that was attacked was not an army base, it was an AIR FORCE BASE and the last I checked nigeria has a chief of air staff why ask the chief of ARMY STAFF to resign for an attack on an airforce base!! if ur not a bigot? And secondly why should the the coas resign why not national security adviser MR DASUKI . I remember when this boko haram saga escalated a certain section of this country put pressure on the president to sack azazi then the NSA, can u tell us why that same section not calling for the resignation of dasuki. If anybody should resign is the commandant of that Air force base. For not securing his base like the Ihejirika u want to resign is doing by securing his office the army headquater onlike ringim who could not secure the police headquaters.

Nafeesa If at all ihejirika should resign then ihejirika should resign fornot using enough brute force on these terrorists but doesn't that contravene what happened where a whole Nigerian army brigade was lost by murtala mohammed while he tried to cross the river Niger during the Nigeria civil war ,another disaster was visited on the nigerian army division led by murtala mohammed when instead of going through onitsha he cleverly went through Ida in igala land bulldozing everything on his path until he ventured into Abagana where a little unknown major uchendu routed a whole division of the nigerian army backed by Soviet Union , equipped by Great Britain in alliance with Arab world, African nunion, Chad, Niger, Cameroon, yoruba nation and led by general murtala mohammed In a David versus Goliath encounter that led to one of the biggest losses ever in a single encounter in the world where 95% of a whole division was wiped out leaving 5% to get out alive and go and tell the story. This forced general murtala mohammed into a forced disgraceful exit from the battle line and exile to the United Kingdom but yet the same general murtala mohammed was considered suitable for the position of the head of state in 1975.

The same fate awaited Benjamin Adekunle whose more than 33,000 soldiers was quashed by an ill equiped biafran forces to below 300 soldiers and out of frustration he resorted to shooting any object he sees whether animate or inanimate until he was replaced by obasanjo who within the same day of resumption lost more than 1500 soldiers to another ill equipped biafran ragtag army platoon fighting barely with weapons captured from fleeing Adekunle soldiers. Yet the same Obasanjo ruled Nigeria for 11 years and almost went for a third term.

seriously the chief of army staff need to answer some questions. Just check out few of the sensitive locations where bomb attacks have taken place: The united nations building abuja, The police headquarter abuja, The command and staff college jaji kaduna, several army/air force/ police barracks, installations, bases, formations all across the north east etc. It seems as if Nigeria is loosing the war against boko haram

The question am asking kids like u to answer is .why should the CHIEF OF AMRY STAFF RESIGN for an attack on an airforce base don't we longer Have a CHIEF OF AIR STAFF any longer?

Nigeria spend more than a trillion naira on defence budget. Nigeria spend more on security than on education yet high profile military installations are bombed as if they were boys scout outposts
Re: COAS: Lt Gen AO Ihejirika. Must Resign by Abagworo(m): 10:52am On Dec 04, 2013
Why Boko Haram has proved difficult to exterminate is because the present FG had a hand in some of their earlier activities. Yar'Adua caused all these by killing the potential negotiator in cold blood. Jonathan came in and still continued like his late boss who of course shares a lot of trait with him and even Sambo. None of them has charisma or the looks of a true leader.

I thought the defence budget is shared btw d navy, airforce, army, sss and office of d nsa? Considering what we r facing now, is dat not small?

As far as am concerned what has been happening is pure sabotage and it will take time to weed out d sabotuers.

So ihejirika should be ominipresence to stop boko haram whenever they want to strike ?
Is sacking ihejirika will end the menace of boko haram and its barbarous act?

Can the new person who might likely to replace the current man eradicate those northern pigs?
All the answers to the above question is capital NO.
Ihejirika is going nowhere, rather we all are going to give him a massive support to over come boko and their brothers up north.

It's embarassing that 3 bases located at the frontline could be overrun so easily and with such impunity.
Is that the same military that is supposed t handle d Bokoharams ? How many times do u hear of U.S bases in Afghan bin entered into like that despite the constant barrage they encounter, or that of any military anywhere f dat matter??
Those bokites operated f @least 6 hours...6HOURS!!

Sacking Ihejirika cannot still solve the problem as can be shown by the earlier sacks. Even late Azazi was sacked and replaced with Dasuki and yet its still a nightmare for Nigerians till today. Boko Haram has taken a different dimension and attracted sympathy of deadly extremist groups based in war thorn countries. Like I've always believed, most of them are not Nigerians. The only way is if all Nigerians lend their support to Jonathan and the army but I doubt the resilience and sincerity on FG's part though.

Seems the military installations in the north are at risk now.

For national security, it seems it makes sense to move all these installations down south

For your info Maidugri is a state capital that is currently under State of Emergency and military lock down yet Boko Haram were able to drive 40 hilux vehicles into the city ( how did the get past all those check points that litter Maidugri) and still caught the army unaware..my Friend the Amazing part is not the entry but the fact that over 500 BH members were able to make a retreat after the attack and 3 days later the military cannot tell us where the emanated from and the location the fled to ( the must pack all those cars somewhere to rest and re arm na )

My brother you just spoke my mind, we need to start asking some serious questions. Imagine a terrorist group entering a city that is under a state of emergency, killing scores of civilians and military personal, damaging public/private properties including military hardwares. How/where did they cordinate their attack from? How did they drive through a town under lock down to carry out an assault on a military base without initial resistance? Where did they retreat to? How did they manage to destroy THREE AIR FORCE JETS AND TWO HELICOPTERS?

I see no reason why Nigeria Government keep on disturbing Boko Hara, they are moslems and want their own country where they can live and govern in Islamic way, they don't need and not asking for Nigeria Silver/Gold, they just want to be on their own and live their life according to Islam. Jonathan should withdraw the Military and allow them to over run Co-Moslem North states.

Nobody is holding brief for any of them. Nigerians ought to start asking those service chiefs, where the 1 trillion naira defence budget is going to. For heaven sake THREE FIGHTER JETS and TWO HELICOPTERS were destroyed. This is a huge military loss and a national embarracement. Without forgetting the scores of lives that were killed

Why not Chief of Defence Staff who is invariably in charge of Airforce, Amry and Navy combined?

Who do you think coordinates the forces? I know it's not Lt Gen. Ihejirika that assigns duties to Airforce Chief.
