Despite availability of free maternity health care for pregnant mothers and new born babies in Lagos state government owned Primary Health Centres (PHC), some mothers are falling prey to services of private hospital doctors who often detain them for months with their new born for failing to pay medical bills. One such centre is the Folabi Medical Centre, a three-storey building located at Number 78 Oworo road, in Oworonshoki area of Lagos. The place, according to officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) and Office of the Public Defender (OPD), has allegedly turned into an incarceration centre for mothers and babies who cannot afford the costly price of child birth...CONTINUE: http:///nc2o2xl

So who is expected to pay their bills? or is the doctor running charity organisation? if he borrowed money from a bank to set up the hospital what will he tell them? he is a humanitarian and patient cannot pay so he let them go? ha

And if this same doctor insist on his bills now b4 treatment, people will blame him saying he should have saved lives ist. Now the same doctor treated them on credit and instead of the so called ministry to help them settle their bills they went their with police to arrest the doctor. Is he running a charity organisation? What do the society want from nigerian doctors self? NMA must intervene to ensure this doctor get paid. The stupid woman even have the guts to say the doctor will be prosecuted. For what?
