Hopefully no life was lost

OP next time please cover up car registrations. You dont want someone dying from shock from suddenly seeing the car of a loved one in a serious accident like this, especially as you haven't said that everyone survived.
....Lik d shock is now of more concern dan d information d plate numb wud pass on...4m I prefer U̶̲̥̅̊ upload d plate number cuz its better one is informed on time dan facing d consequence of ignorance.(Wc myt b worse dan d sed shock)

All these silly people complaining about "taking pictures when accidents happen", should just STFU!

All of us cannot sleep with our heads facing the same side.

Some will help bring pure water to help victims who can be resuscitated immediately
Some would use their phone to help contact ambulance and other emergency services
I have helped lift people to nearest hospital in my private car from scene of an accident
Some would take pictures to alert the public to what really happened so that family members can know where to go for missing loved ones
Some would just drive-by and come here to complain that the pictures you took contain "Reg numbers"! sad
Some would just be looking for "holes" to point out in any and verything...

But the thing is: LET EVERYONE JUST DO SOMETHING TO BE HELPFUL when an accident happens.

Lastpage!

The rate at which people speeds , you will begin to imagine if something is not wrong with the head or how can you explain it. A tanker drove past me around Sagamu on Friday, I could only shake my head. Yet FRSC dont stop all these form of drivers only private cars. Dangote trucks and tankers and the most guilty or because they are more visible.

Chie! These are serious accidents o. I'm not sure if i should blame this on the naija roads or the faulty car with faulty break. May God give those involved speedy recovery and for those who lost their lives, may their souls rest in peace sad
It's incredibly sad to see people lose their lives because of other people's mistakes sad

Pukkah:

Why do you think Nigeria has one of the highest rate of road accidents in the world?

How have some countries brought road accident rates to very negligible rates? With prayers?

What is it they are doing that we are not doing? Praying?

I even think the one thing that's not in short supply on Nigerian roads is prayers.

Mr man don't say what you don't know, who told you Nigeria has d highest road accident, have you seen statistics of road accident in Africa not 2 talk of d world, abeg no misinform peeps here.

Look at this:

http://premiumtimesng.com/news/144588-1000-nigerians-die-road-accidents-7-months-frsc-boss.html

It was reported that more than 1,000 people died in road accidents between March and September this year.

http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/main-square/78078-frscs-scary-statistics-road-crashes-nigeria.html

It was reported that there were 280 deaths from 480 crashes in just two weeks! (December 19, 2012 and January 3, 2013)

http://www.frscinsight.com/?p=24723

In 2011, 3,000 people reportedly died in 2,235 accidents. This is an excerpt from the page:

In January to June 2012 (6 months), 1,936 people were killed by road accidents.
http://www.envisionnigeria.com/index.php?option=com_content&&view=article&id=1540&Itemid=%20138

Note that the figures are believed to be higher with many incidents unreported.

Visit these links to see Nigeria's position:

http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/poverty-matters/2011/may/11/most-dangerous-roads

http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/road-traffic-accidents/by-country/

Now, read again what I earlier wrote that 'Nigeria has one of the highest rate of road accidents in the world' and prove me wrong. If you can't do this, I expect your apology for the needless abuse.

I was once involved in an accident on this very same spot in 2010. And from the pictures i see, there seems to have played a similar scenario with mine. Ours was caused by the Police, who set up an illegal road-block on this very steep slope. Loads of cars occupied all three lanes and stretched for about 50 meters.

I began to hear loud bangs from behind me while i waited on the illegal police road-block queue. Immediately i looked behind me, there came this DANGOTE ''Out of Control Freight-Liner Trailer'', smashing vehicles from behind and coming straight at us. Few seconds later, it was my turn for impact.

God saved myself and my friend that day. I still have the pictures of our car and the cars behind and in front of us that some of the passengers didn't make it out. The trailer was fully loaded with sugar. Two Mazda buses derailed the trailer and it eventually stopped on top of them, trapping the occupants and making sure no one came out. The trailer burst into huge flame immediately it stopped, and roasted occupants in both buses and surrounding vehicles.

Area youths got angry and headed for the Police guys who had long scampered, firing gun-shots into the air. One of the Police guys couldn't make it to the vehicle, and ran with his gun to the Statue (Yoruba, Igbo & Hausa) that welcomes you into Lagos. He was firing warning shots from there.

Before Mobile Police men eventually arrived the scene and tear-gassed everyone (Protesting Youths, wounded passengers & Travellers coming into Lagos)

The Nigeria Police was quick to dissociate itself by the next morning in National papers, that it had never posted nor assigned any of its officials to that highway spot and as such, The Nigeria Police was not in any way the cause of the Accident.

I laughed.

Cheers Nigerians.

^^^^^May be it was the accident that I earlier referred to. It was a very bad day. Billows of smoke rented the air and many people were roasted.

A responsible government ought to have launched an inquiry into the immediate and remote cause of the crashes and the avoidable deaths and taken specific actions to prevent a recurrence.

Alas, nothing has changed except may be the police check point but the crashes, and the deaths, continue.

Another potential accident that's waiting to happen on that axis is at Berger Bus stop where scores of pedestrians flock on to the road to cross. I don't know why government can't put up a pedestrian bridge at that point. Or is it until another avoidable tragedy happens?

The other side of the bus stop is not saner. Motor park touts sprinkle themselves on the roads in the name of whatever. Buses coming into Lagos park carelessly and pull out dangerously. Can't some agency or government instill discipline in these areas?

That place is sloppy and people speed a lot; especially tankers............
