The turbulence that followed the privatisation of PHCN successor companies appears to be abating as we'r beginning to notice some stability in power supply in most parts of Enugu.

The handover of PHCN successor companies on the first of November was followed by periods of drastic worsening of power nationwide. The problem then was traced to the shocks that accompanied the process of handover and vandalism of critical gas pipelines by sabotuers who were suspected to be agents of APC.

However, with these major pipelines fixed and the new owners of the Discos and Gencos having increasing firm control on the systems, things appear to be looking good.

Nonetheless, with the risk of vandalism by evil elements still high and the expected 1-2 years incumbation period for significant investments by the new owners, it is not yet time for celebration.

So how is the public power supply in your area? Are you also seeing traces of improvement?

At the head office of the Enugu Distribution Company, now headed by a white man (dont know why), it appears things are no longer business as usual. The loitering and lazying around usually the order of the day has now disappeared.

what is your monthly bill like? most people that say they enjoy light are unable to say how much they pay per month for the light which goes to show one of the root causes of our problems.

OBJ left office in 2007 and we'r now in 2013, that is a clear 6 years after OBJ left office. In addition, OBJ had 8 years do whatever he could as president of Nigeria. So was 8 years (1999 to 2007) not enough for him to fix power?

Now lets stretch the debate further along your line of argument, when can we say OBJ effort on corruption is also "starting to yield" negatively or positively?

Thank God for ya life. Unfortunately for us in Nigeria, we've been unfortunate to have CLUELESS and rudderless leadership in the last 5 decades. We'r still watching to see if the current president will succeed where others FAILED WOEFULLY AND DISASTROUSLY.

A.P.C no go kill you one day,,so u think we can achieve if we privatise phcn without cracking down on those importing generator, don't u think dey are responsible for d vandalism happening,do u knw how much dey pay to those crooks in phcn just to make sure electricity is unstable just to make dem sell more generators, and don't u also think those oil marketers could also be behind it,do u knw how much they make on selling fuel to jerrycans on daily basis, we still have alot to do after the privatization ,it shouldn't stop there...

We're better off in my area without this privatisation nonsense. We used to enjoy at least, 23 hours uninterrupted electricity on the average every month, but since the change of ownership, 15 hours is a blessing.angry
