YNWA y'all....first off i think we(lfc)will get something from the match but a draw wont be bad as i fancy a win at chelski. Weak link: flanno injured and any understudy i.e cissokho or kelly or smith are not up to scrath strong link:SAS......seems like anything good in liverpool comes from an SAS.it was suarez and sturridge but since the latter got injured yet another SAS,suarez and sterling the former has 19 goals and 5 assists in 12 and the latter has 4 goals and an assist in five also another SAS,sakho and skrtel have been rocksolid. |

Rodgers: Liverpool have no fear ahead of Manchester City trip Manuel Pellegrini's side have won all eight of their home league games, including scoring six against both Arsenal and Tottenham, and the Reds boss thinks it is their title to lose By Alex Young Dec 26, 2013 9:40:00 AM Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists his side have "no fear" about facing Manchester City, despite describing the title as Manuel Pellegrini 's to lose. Last season's runners-up are the only team to boast a 100 per cent record at home after eight games - scoring a staggering 35 goals in the process after notching six against both Tottenham and Arsenal. But Rodgers, whose side are top heading into the Boxing Day clash, says his squad have confidence in themselves and will look for all three points away at a title rival. "We arrive there with no fear," Rodgers is quoted as saying by The Guardian . "We outplayed Manchester City last year, home and away. We had two draws and we should have won both games but we will go there with every respect for them. I believe with the squad they have, it is their title to lose. "We will go there and be aggressive and to press the football. We had 23 shots on goal against Cardiff. They will have seen from Cardiff and from Tottenham [who Liverpool beat 5-0], that we can score goals." Rodgers is refusing to get carried away with Liverpool being top at Christmas for the first time since 2008-09 as he is aware that three of the past four times the club boasted such an advantage they ended the season empty-handed. "I always think that every team has the chance to win the Premier League," he said. "The Premier League is not only Liverpool and Manchester City. Tottenham will continue fighting. Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton are playing good football and will fight for the title until the end." |

The captain commented: "I think we made a statement at Tottenham that we're ready to improve our away form and try to find a better level of consistency away from home. If we get that, I think we're going to surprise a few this season." |

For me, playing Cissokho in this game is a massive gamble. The French defender is not the quickest, and if he's up against the very speedy Jesus Navas, it could be a real problem for the Reds. Additionally, Cissokho hasn't played since November 11th, so he clearly won't be 100% match-fit. Given the personnel available, Glen Johnson could've played at left back, with the vastly experienced - and Premier League proven - Kolo Toure coming in at right back. Decisions like this can make or break a season, but let's hope it turns out well... |

Injury blow for man city Manchester City are without defender Martin Demichelis for today’s crucial clash with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium after the centre- half sustained an injury during training on Christmas Day. The 33-year-old is replaced by England international Joleon Lescott, while Edin Dzeko drops to the substitutes’ bench. The striker, who started in the 4-2 win at Fulham last weekend, is replaced by winger Jesus Navas. However, the hosts are boosted by the return from injury of full-back Pablo Zabaleta in place of Gael Clichy – a timely comeback as the Blues prepare to face title rivals Liverpool, who are skippered by in-form striker Luis Suarez while club captain Steven Gerrard is sidelined with a groin ailment. Reds defender Jon Flanagan, who sustained a groin injury in the 3-1 triumph over Cardiff City last time out, is not fit enough to feature and is replaced by Aly Cissokho. Manchester City: Hart, Zabaleta, Lescott, Kompany (C), Kolarov, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, Nasri, Silva, Negredo, Navas. Substitutes: Milner, Dzeko, Garcia, Clichy, Pantilimon, Nastasic, Boyata. |
