Bro, You just did some justice to an interesting issue.I must commend you know-how on the banking sector with getting in touch with you. I deal with Bankers and i'm yet to see some handful of intelligent Bankers like you. It really shows you are Happy with your job even though there are some mis-givings, in the sector. However, the Banking sector has been a Saving Grace to the Nigerian graduates, without which many of you guys in the sector would have been roaming the streets of Lagos State which is a home of Expectations for many. Yes, i agree with you that some bank staffs are terrible and i often wonder how they got their job-maybe they bribed their way in,it can be obtainable in Nigeria. The most terrible amongst the Bankers are some of those Customer Service Ladies-especially the single ladies. They find it difficult to differentiate between their Domestic Relationship(behaviour) and their Corporate Expectations, from my experience. I think the Government need to implement policies to check this 'contract staff' stuff and the Bogus Targets they want you guys to meet-up. Thanks for the thread,it was quite educative to me.Finally,i wanted to say i can't work in the Bank, except otherwise. My personality will not augur with that-I'm a physicist though and i completement my present job with Internet Marketing, George. http://www.AffiliatesMakingMoney.biz |

Thanks for that enlightenment really. Now we can have a better aproach to these banks. Do all these include wardrobe allowances or do they pay differently for that. The pay includes both wardrobe, furniture, transport, housing, tea, cofee allowace and what have u. I just finished my NYSC with Wema Bank and now got a job with Oceanic though have not resumed. I like the banking job espaciall as young person but i dont think the banking industry will see me after about 4 years. Men i should be doing better things with my life just as the poster pointed out. Work on being ur own boss |

Read the post on http://forum.jobscentral.com.sg/showthread.php?t=38. Working in a good bank gives you long term job security and in a country like Nigeria, job security is top priority for anyone who wants to keep his sanity. It is precarious to be self-employed in Nigeria. The banking boom in Nigeria is good news for young graduates who need good jobs to earn good salaries and live well in an underdeveloped country. The best place to work is not in a bank or oil company, but consultancy firms like Accenture and KPMG or the offices of the United Nations and Aid agencies in Nigeria. They pay more and they give you more global opportunities without much stress. Bank workers are not really well paid in Nigeria if you rate them by the man-hours required to earn these six-digit and seven-digit salaries. Nigerian bank workers are overworked and too much executive stress. |
Re: The Truth About Bank Pay In Nigeria by akanni(m): 7:45pm On Jul 31, 2008 |
@emekauzor Nice thread once again though i think some of us have forgotten the fact that competition is really stiff amongst these banks. when we talk about your take home really taking you home, oceanic is it. i happen to work in one of the top 10 banks (i hope) and what i earn on my grade is what someone two steps below me in oceanic takes home smiling. well, we say all is not about pay but guys,in this country, money plays a big role or whatcha think? |
Re: The Truth About Bank Pay In Nigeria by cgift(m): 7:47pm On Jul 31, 2008 |
emekauzor: For an average bank in Nigeria. She does not need all the details i think. What i have ut there for those three grades is not far from what an average bank pays in Nigeria, except the bank is ging towards extinction. akanni: then migrate to Oceanic |

Nigerian bank workers are overworked and too much executive stress. @orikinla. i actually have a smile on my face saying this,'you mean we are not being well-paid'? my dear, when Nigeria gets to that point where the likes of US are, you can tell me about bankers not being well paid with respect to man-hours put in. that is not to say if my pay is increased, iwill refuse it( ) @cgift i tried migrating to oceanic but they told me my grade was too high for opeartions and for the location i had in mind-abuja! no marketing for me abeg. |
Re: The Truth About Bank Pay In Nigeria by cgift(m): 8:03pm On Jul 31, 2008 |
Oceanic has poached many of our staff but they are really experiencing peace. I intereviewed a guy who wanted to join my team from Oceanic and was surprised of the pay he presented on an AM grade cos what my guys earn as AM is much higher than that. I learnt from him that there are bands for some grades. Never forget the fact that even on the same grade in most of these banks, people get different pay. I am one example. I earn more than 90% of my colleagues on the same grade cos of an important strategic factor. So, these things are relative and depends on whom, what, why and where |

The numbers indicated for bank pays are not bad at all even in US. These are very competitive rates. .But my question is : Are these take home pays or do your Companies have to deduct taxes. Please advise. I also did not see any mention of UBA. Are they any good. What is the average pay for a branch manager. Thanks 1 Like |
