The need to respond effectively to fire disasters in Lagos State has prompted the government of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, to commit millions of naira to upgrading and deploying more infrastructure for the state fire and safety service department. This was disclosed by Mr. Adedayo Ajose, Director, Lagos State Fire and Safety Service, while commissioning a set of fire fighting equipment donated to Omole Phase II Community Development Association, by the management of Fidelity Bank Plc. According to him, the state fire service is presently undergoing tremendous transformation which will see it delivering better services to Lagosians. Ajose stated that the governor’s passion for the fire service, as well as the safety of lives and property of inhabitants of the state, led to the purchase of standard and modern fire fighting equipment for the service. “The state government recently acquired 60 Goddess fire fighting trucks and 10 water tankers for the state fire service,” he stated. Ajose added that work had reached advanced stage on the construction of seven new fire service outposts in some local government councils across the state. When completed, he posited, the number of fire service stations in the state will increase to 15 from its present eight. “We can now get to the grassroots quickly and be able to tackle fire incidences before they spread and cause damages to lives and property,” Ajose disclosed. He was full of praises for the state governor for his unflinching commitment to a disaster-free society. He called on the people of Lagos to have faith in the fire service. http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html its another one, the man has done it again |

sadly, this is another waste. They always failed to appreciate that things are based on 'system and processes'; they never see the 'Big Pictures'. 1. where are the roads that fire-trucks will pass? 2. where are the water-pumps about 2meters apart on each street? 3. where are the detailed layout of all pipelines, gas line, electric acbles? 4. what salary package of fire-men? |

[/quote]sadly, this is another waste. Its impossible to fix all these things you outlined all at once. The upgrading of the fire service is a positive step and lets all pray that in time, the rest will follow. |
