There is this proverb that says "when a boy gives underwear to a girl, one day he will seek to find out how the underwear fits the waist". This may not be completely true but it's as if we have been conditioned with this notion such that we don't feel comfortable giving or receiving underwear like bra, pant etc as gift especially to or from someone who is not your boyfriend/girlfriend. Is there anything wrong in giving underwear as gift? Would you accept one as gift?

there is nothing wrong in giving such a gift. Guys don't bother when they recieve boxers and singlets from girls, why should ladies be wary when they recieve undies as gifts. Maybe, it is due to the sacredness of the symbol the gifts represent to women

I took a girl out one time on undies shopping. There is a subtle message behind giving such gifts to girls without being overtly needy; which is a turn-off to girls. Its like saying to them'' i find you attractive, i am comfortable with you as it relates to your hygiene as a woman''. The experience of that day was her getting less frigid and free to involve me in a womanly ritual society deems perversive. You can guess where it all lead to...
