The Big Dubai Scam!!- Nigerians Beware by marQuez1: 12:28am On Dec 29, 2013
THE BIG SCAM …. It is commonplace to have young Nigeria guys/girls between 21-30yrs (I also met a couple of men in their mid/late 40s) are approached with offer that look like the one below and pay between N400,000 to N800,000.
 job seekers start work as soon as the land in Dubai (or UAE)
 Company provide free accommodation, transportation and maybe feeding
 Take-home (of course tax-free) salary of US$2,000-US$2,500 for even non-degree job positions.

THE REALITY is….. I noticed that Nigerians in the UAE (especially Dubai) including JJCs can be indentified into six(6) categories
1. Welcome
The lucky arrival JJCs ones are able to meet their agent who assist them find a “bed space” bunk in a 14-18person populated “studio room”(self-contain) with a monthly rent of between AED400-AED500. Most “lucky ones” have their visa agents vanish after this point. The unlucky ones don’t get to meet their visa agents-only calls or worse; the agent shows up, collect their passport in the guise of affixing a stamp on, it sell the look alike passport to Nigerians in the Trapped category. This unfortunate JJCs become trapped themselves as early as few days on arrival.
2. Discovery category
JJCs whether they hold genuine employment visas, visit or tourist visa evolve to the Discovery category. Apart from the fortunate 2% of those with genuine employment visa who immediately evolve into the Job discovery, every other JJC spend atleast two-three weeks in this category. where it is done on them that the whole job story is a scam or that their dreams are mere euphoria. This ushers him/her to the next stage I call the “finding a way out”. JJC finds out that after paying for such a huge amount, he/she doesn’t even hold a valid employment visa but a an extendable/non-extendable four-weeks tourist visa or just a few weeks visit visa (carry wale) sponsored by Etihad. JJCs get to know the average cost of visas, detail cost of living and face other living conditions such as squatting on a bed space in a crowded room. They also faced with the fact that nobody loans you money and are indoctrinated that one must pay for every information or favour (no matter how little) you seek from a fellow Nigerian. This implies that if someone gives you a lead or information on a vacancy. The pay demanded here is usually term as “commission” which they say is allowed in UAE. Smart JJCs that are able to mingle faster in this category evolved to sub- Advanced discovery and Job discovery categories.
3. Returnee category
About 7% of JJCs return to Nigeria within about a week after the Discovery point while the rest continue the journey.
4. Job discovery category
About 33%) that evolve from Discovery are those that get genuine jobs within few weeks of their arrival. This category have their employment residence visa processed by respective employer and are lucky enough to have their employment visa at hand before exit-n-retry UAE.
5. Advanced discovery category
About 60% of JJCs from the Discovery evolve in this category. This category is made of mostly victims of pre-entry job scams and those frustrated due to no jobs. This category tend to devise means to survive by stealing from fellow Nigerians, cheating within the system and extorting post-entry job scam commission. A popular means is to develop job scam for which Nigerians pay between AED500-AED3,000 in the form of agent commission and/or visa deposit. The JJC is issued a company offer letter few days after and starts working. The so called company feed the JJC with news and hope of employment visa in-process meanwhile patiently wait for the JJC to work the rest of his/her visa days. Of this category, about 45% of Nigerians whose visa is expired is exited to back to Nigeria where they wait indefinitely for their company to send them their employment visa. The balance of 65% become Trapped.
6. Trapped category
This category is an outfall of Nigerians from the Advanced discovery category who are trapped. The first group are those trapped in Kish (a small island close to UAE) waiting indefinitely for their employment visa, jailed or are inhiding. The second group is those engaged in out-law activities alongside over-stays who cannot clear their over-stay penalties are trapped jails. The third groups are over-stays (with many years to pay) in inhiding. Apart those with very slim luck of look-alike passports and those that finish their jail terms alive, only God knows when and how other Nigerians in this category will return home.
Please NOTE: That there is a counterfeit Naira certainly implies that there is an original Naira and vice versa. This Alert is meant to put the reader on the alert so that when next you are presented with a luscious “Dubai offer”, you will act with knowledge. When one still fall victim after reading this, they have no one to blame than themselves.

God bless you very well @OP for this info, I have warned many people back home to be careful of bad agents with their sweet words, I live here and most people broadcasting Employment visa are not even employed, they don't have genuine papers.
