ndu_chucks: Because tax waivers, incentives and grants are solutions that are logical and make sense and thus are forbidden in this present administration. There will be no local manufacturing capability from foreign companies in the next 2 years. Innoson motors has only one consumer model vehicle (an SUV, no sedan model). Why indulge in the intensely stupid decision to increase import duties right now? |

ba7man: What was done with the money "saved" from the Subsidy removal?? The money is not gonna be saved by the govt but Nigerians. The money can be invested by these business men and women in other businesses that will create employment. Please do well not mislead the public. Let's also not forget that the FG ll lose money from import duties. |

Fast Shipping: When did Executive arm of government begin to make law? Why would Federal Executive Council make law? I thought the legislative arm of government should be the one making such law. Someone needs to take GEJ on this policy. This is call policy. It is within the ambit of the executive arm of government. |

southsouthman: Yes. We've heard this same tripe from paid lapdogs like yourself. Each of you is VERY careful not to mention the type of cheap, tiny vehicle that will retail for that price. Of course, none of you has the intelligence to explain why the FG did not wait until these miraculous 1.5m brand new vehicles were available before hiking the tariffs upward or simply maintaining status quo and letting market forces do the trick. Why prevent a civil servant from buying a 2007 Camry Tokunbo at an affordable price if you're so sure that the 1.5 million car will be a reality and will be worth it? |

texazzpete: Honestly all I see in this policy is wickedness and the desire to distinguish the rich from the struggling emerging class |

do you have a desire for Nigeria to become industrialized if yes then support this policy it is a painful but important step forward No obe invests any dime where there is little or no demand two years is such a short time let us be patient It is not that we do not have an auto manufacturing company already those who say gej should lead by example have a very good point |

phransix147: That one dey think? Him get sense? What stops u from implementing your automobile policy and leave the normal tariiff and duty 4 importation of cars. Let ur policy face stiff competition and leave the choice to we Nigerians... If to go for locally Made (GEJ Suv) or foreign ones, trust me price and effeciency wud determine!Really! Dats ur opinion, U want GEJ to promote d local market n ur suggestion is to leave tax as it is, so I ask were is d "Promoting of Local market"? or u dey vex cos GEJ tot to do dis first or is it d tribal element (Innoson). He will have to discourage importation first b4 promoting d Locally made 1s. Since he didn't band is dats were d competition starts. Dis in turn will provide mechanics with jobs n materials needed, Y do u fink driving an imported car in the US is seen as posh cos d tax u get to pay for it is really high. Nw ur complain shuld be directed @ dese local markets, not sit down dere wit ur lappy n critics cos GEJ is trying to change things, use d phone industry as a case study, every poor person has a cell phone. |
