INTERACTIVE SESSION BETWEEN OOUITES AND THE OOU SUG PRESIDENT

President of the Students Union Government, OOU, Com. Ifade Olusegun Socialist has reiterated his commitment at ensuring that the dividends of a responsible and responsive Students Union get to every Oouites.

The President made this known during an interactive session he had with Students and some representatives of Campus based Organizations at the Union Secretariat.

The session commenced with a concise rundown of the Union activities since emergence on the 25th of March, 2014. Part of the activities include Re-opening of the School Portal, abolition of Pass/Fail result, Price regulatory (Transportation & Sachet Water), Freshers' Orientation, Improvement on security of Students, among others.

Different questions were directed to the President, as regards reduction in tuition fees (which several agitation by concerned Oouites have flooded the social media), Opportunity for a%60/%40 mode of payment, and incessant unlawful arrest of Students by Policemen within Ago Iwoye and its environs.

The President however responded by stating the various consultative measures which the Union is already accessing to facilitate a reasonable outcome, soonest. He as well emphasized on the need to be very meticulous in handling such a sensitive matter so as not to be mistakenly termed as being politically motivated.

Also, as part of the ongoing effort of this present administration,is the introduction of Students' Residential scheme. This scheme, hopefully would take effect as soon as we have more of our returning Students back on campus.

However, the President has expressed his displeasure over the low turn out of Students to the session. He described it as a negative pointer to what is likely to crop up, should Oouites be summoned for a massive protest.

Meanwhile, even though we recognise the poor economic state of the nation, and how uneasy it has always been for Parents, sourcing for tuition fees, Returning Students yet to pay their tuition fees are passionately advised to do so before the deadline given by the school management, while we implore the Management to give an extensive period of payment.

In his closing remarks, he appreciates all Students present, called for a more security consciousness, especially by the Fresh Students on campus, and added that Oouites should be ever ready to extend a hand of support to the current administration,as he is ever committed at ensuring that the proper welfarism of all Oouites is met, come rain, come shine.

In secondary
school, I was very poor in maths. During
exams, I'd get between 2% and 8%. The
results used to be announced sequentially,
that is from the lowest to the highest marks.
So I would always be the first or second to
be called out. One day, the maths results
were announced and my name wasn't among
the first to be called out. The teacher got to
30%, 40%, 50%, 60% and 70%, still my
paper had not been called out. Everyone in
the class kept looking at M ̲ ε̲̣̣̣̥ asking, Guy
what's up? How did you pass this exam?" By
the time the teacher got to 80%, I was
already grinning in excitement. When he got
to 90%, he had only one paper remaining. I
then asked myself, could I have scored 90%

happy now. I thought my dreams have been
answered. The whole class was amazed as
everyone kept looking at me. It was
unbelievable. Finally the teacher looked up
and said, "A stupid student here did not
write his name on the paper and he scored
0%. If you have not received your paper
come and get it now!" I fainted.
