How come Christians take the "God's Son" title
literally with Jesus and they don't take it literally
for the rest of the prophets and people who were
called the Sons of God?
In John 3:16 Jesus was called God's only Begotten
Son.
In Exodus 4:22 "Thus saith Jehovah, Israel is my
son, even my firstborn." Israel was called God's
First Son.
In Jeremiah 31:9 "I am a father to Israel, and
Ephraim is my firstborn." Ephraim is God's First
Son and First Born.
In Psalm 2:7 "....Jehovah had said onto me
(David), thou art my Son; this day have I
begotten thee." David was called God's Begotten
Son.
Doesn't English have meaning? What do the
above passages mean? Can anybody reconcile
and harmonise them for me?

@op Such insightful teaching and deep understanding. I never knew we had such a great teacher on NL.

So according to your great knowledge of the bible...

Who was it that impregnated Mary to give birth to Jesus?

Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 22:
Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped).

Wow! What a wonderful search anyway the letter is killing u. Gbam! Now sorry to say but u r a 1st degree pharisee, and he that searches the bible looking 4 error wil find death he that luks 4 answers and truth wl get lyf. Anyway, u r left wt ur opinion and 'of dr own wil shal dy heap teachers wch wl teach what dy want'. And if u hv psycopaths wit u gud.
Anyway let me try and reason wt u, hv u 'balanced' psa 2 with heb. 1. Bsides those are prophesies. Then, Son and son are different, firstborn and begoten are also diferent.

Well, from English translations- you will notice the phrase: ONLY begotten son. So why use ONLY here? It is because, Jesus was the only thing God created directly by himself. The word "only" used in John 3:16 shows Jesus unique relationship with the Father.

The Isreal mentioned here is not Jacob but Isreal as a nation (group of people), Ephraim is the dominant tribe of 10 tribe division Isreal (I.e they are the most populous tribe-hence they represent the whole). How can a group of people become God's Son,or firstborn son ? Adam and the angels are also called the Sons of God, why is that?

Well, Even though this chapter of Psalms was written by David, it is not for David to fulfill (cos it is a prophecy). Please read the accompanying verses first; Ps 2:2, 8,9,12. The answer is there!
