Toning simply means to make your skin healthy and bring out your true colour. It doesn't necessarily involve using creams sef.

and most people do not know that most medically approved creams are toning creams....all these cocoa butter, St. Ives etc are toning creams. My cream is a toning cream and my colour remains the same. I only look healthy and glowing .

I see nothing wrong with evening out your Skin Tone.

I'm against people completely changing their natural Skin Color.

Toning: It could either mean to make the body firmer with exercise or it could be means of tightening the pores to minimize acne breakout, reduce oil and balance the skin or it is way of repairing damaged skin caused by the sun or discoloration of the skin due to carelessness. It does not have any side effects it rather restore the dullness of the skin and makes it look attractive.

Bleaching: This is an art whereby you take away the first epidermis of the outer layer of the skin and second and third epidermis of the skin which is the finest skin, then one looks entirely white just like an European because you have bleached to the finest layer of the skin which is very risky

u can only understand the subject by the process of colour tonation in visual arts now tonin means just to make your colour brighter or darker depend on the original variation it has, this can be achieved by by cleaning up the dark spots, but bleaching is actually altering the outer layer of your skin by destroying the pigmentation like what happen when you add jik to your ankara stuff

Toning. Is about. Making your skin colour even now have u ever seen a person who tones dat is yellow like yellow pawpaaw...no no,except if d person is bleaching. Toning is for people whose skin has been made darker by the sun,or u want to tell me that people don't get darker due to sun exposure in nigeria and then pple are like,you're now dark o,blah blah blah. Okay, so, I have a question then:

Why is it that when people stop using the toning cream, they get darker than they originally were?

If it is not same thing and if it is true that toning cream evens up skin tone, why does the face get BLACKER than the thigh after the toning cream gets finished and there's not enough money anymore to buy another one?
How come the work done by the toning cream is not permanent (if it's really true that it evens out complexion) and yields the same result a bleaching cream would, when usage of bleaching cream is discontinued??

I love this definition of yours and wish toning will stay so BUT the bleaching toning creams on ground would not allow the truth in your definition shine.

Yes i agree with you. To avoid buying the general products that is widely acceptable one need to check the ingredients on the cream's package and be aware that the best skin toners are those which do not contain alcohol and use all natural products so that the skin remains undamaged and blemish free for years. If it contains those alcohol based ingredients and most especially the very active ingredients it should be tagged as a bleaching cream irrespective of the name it was given.

IMO....Bleaching always make the skin lighter. Toning can go either way or remain the same. If someone had light patches due to burns or whatever...toning would be darkening the light patches to make it match the rest of the skin. Dark patches...toning will be to lighten the dark patches. Bleach...lighten/tan...darken/ tone...to make the color even.
