A visibly embarrassed Gov. Akpabio was the butt of PDP and Presidential anger over the weekend following security reports that the Akwa Ibom State Governor was all the while pretending to be supporting President Goodluck Jonathan when indeed he was plotting his way to end Jonathan's rule and install himself as Vice President to a Northern candidate of the PDP.

His activities of the past few months were placed under intense scrutiny. Akpabio's meeting with the PDP Governors at the Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge Abuja, a few weeks ago was his decider. It was surmised that Akpabio's resolution to have Tukur removed at all cost was less than altruistic. He wanted Tukur removed, knowing that he was Jonathan's backbone and then proceed from there to have his way, in concert with Governors who he was sure to railroad into sharing his views.


Paul Ekpo, a well known Akpabio puppet Chairman of the PDP, came out with an unconvincing statement claiming that the caucus of the party in the State had passed a motion commending Jonathan for his effective handling of the economy and security, etc. This, rather than address the issues at stake, created many more questions. Is the party now holding brief for the Governor? Akpabio is the one being threatened with sanctions for anti-party activities in that he was all the time plotting against his party National Chairman and the National Leader of the Party! How about the meetings with the PDP Governors in Akwa Ibom Lodge in Abuja. Akpabio thought money could answer all issues.

He failed to recognize that the Northern Governors were painfully aware that the only reason Akpabio could exercise so much influence in the party was because of the favorable revenue to Akwa Ibom monthly. They cannot ascribe any peculiar hardwork or revenue generation skill to Akpabio or any particular governance skill. His power was solely the gigantic revenue allocation for which some of the other Governors derisively marveled at the irresponsible expenditure of the State funds by Akpabio.

Tambuwal visited Governor Akpabio in Uyo, Monday, 6th January, 2014, along with key members of his kitchen cabinet from Abuja. this marks the activation of Akpabios plan B. The Plan B had been hatched a long time ago during secret meetings between Akpabio and members of the National Assembly at different fora within Nigeria and abroad. Jonathan must be impeached as a last resort! The revelation of Akpabio's ulterior motives by the media renders the plan B urgent. The machinery must be set in motion immediately. The immediate action, it is hoped will have the following effect; have a salutary effect on possible sanctions against Akpabio or divert attention altogether from the planned sanctions.
Either way, Akpabio is not ready to go down without a fight. Tambuwal came to Uyo to present estimates for the impeachment of Jonathan to Akpabio. His calculation is that with the majority in the House of Representatives now APC, Jonathan could not hope to survive Akpabio's onslaught there. In a private discussion, Akpabio is said to have pledged N100 billion to the project. Tambuwal in turn is said to have promised to secure reconciliation between Amaechi, Governor of Rivers State and Akpabio as part of the wider network to ensure the demise of Jonathan!

The PDP meeting now scheduled for the 16th January is pregnant with expectations. Political observers are united in their opinion that the meeting is indeed going to be crucial. Look out for more revelation coming soon. LVIT is more closer to things as never before, thanks to our volunteers.
