Ex Gtbank staff was employed in 2004, since his employment with the establishment has worked dutifully and assiduously and served the bank for the period of 9 years. And, due to his diligence he rose through the ranks up till the position of an assistant manager of Operation Department.

On the 8th of October 2013, Mokola Branch wrongly credited the account of one Mr Igado Adams Sunday with the amount of N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira Only). The said Mr Sunday went to the branch of the establishment and withdrew the sum of N600,000.00 (Six Hundred Thousand Naira Only). When it was discovered that the amount was had been wrongly credited by the Mokola Branch and after all attempts to contact the the said Mr Sunday with a view to returning the money failed.

It was agreed between the officers incharge (OPS) that the Six Hundred Thousand Naira would be splitted by both branches in an equal ration, i.e N300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira Only). So as to credit the original customers account pending when investigation is concluded and the culprit apprehended.

Already, the case was reported to the head internal investigation team for Northeast Region with the expectation that this would be investigated and suspect apprehended.

However, this was not investigated nor was it reported to the Nigerian Police Force for proper investigation and rather throughout the period he was mistreated, stripped off his duties as (HOPs) for crediting back the Mokola Branch that made the initial mistake with the sum of N300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira Only) in a bid to ensure that the customer whose legitimate instruction was carried out but done into a wrong account.

This unfair manner of treatment was due to the fact that a credit of N300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira Only) was done to Mokola so that they make up the balance and customer does not suffer any loss.

Furthermore, he was made to pay back the N300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) from his allowance and thus stripped off his official duties as a staff of the establishment. And, this prompted his taking the part of honor in the form of resignation, which he did on the 4th December 2013 and thus they refused to accept his resignation letter.

The staff had not received any verbal or written warnings throughout the 9 years nor was he involved in any misconduct that warrants a dismissal as indicated in the staff hand book.

It is would be highly unfair to smear a staff good name, which was built over a 9 year period with the establishment. It is hopeful that a staff that has served dutifully and resigned from an establishment should be entitled to all benefits and entitlements.
