VACANCIES FOR ENGINEERS IN A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHMENT, ABUJA, EXCELLENT REMUNERATION, KEY OPPORTUNITIES

Our Client is a control agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the imperatives of implementing the new central procurement policy of the Government has necessitated vacancies in respect of the positions of:

 Electrical Engineers (5Nos)
 Highway Engineers (2 Nos)
 Oil and Gas Engineers (2 Nos)




OUR UNDERSTANDING

We understand that the Agency requires qualified, experienced highly talented and resourceful persons to fill the position of:

1. Electrical Engineers (5Nos)


The principal function of this position is to develop solutions for various electrical engineering applications, responsible to manage, develop, maintain and continuously improve electrical projects. This includes estimating, planning, scheduling and cost control. He/She may be responsible for projects such as functional Lighting for roads, Interchanges and Electrical maintenance assignments as well as decorative amenity and landscape lighting design.
Key responsibilities will be:
• Carrying out functional electrical designs for projects, such as roads, interchanges, oil and gas, as well as electrical maintenance assignments in compliance with world-class standard practices.
• Designing of electrical solutions including but not limited to electrical projects, for roads, bridges and all other construction projects.
• Providing CAD evaluation support of Electrical designs and drawings.
• Responsible for the preparation of cost estimates, cost forecasting and controls.
• Responsible for reviewing health, safety and environmental requirements of electrical projects
• Reviewing drawings and electrical material submittal documents, for efficient utilization of resources.
• Attending evaluation meetings to resolve electrical engineering issues relating to construction projects.
• Liaison with the necessary authority on electrical design/installation related issues.
• Technical coordination with other utilities in a multi disciplinary infrastructure projects as required.
• Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time
Key requirements
The successful candidate should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering with a sound AutoCAD knowledge and be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
• Experience in evaluation of design/installation of Electrical projects working with consultants/contractors.
• Experience in the in major Building and Construction projects including Highway and Lighting projects.
• Should be well accustomed with world-class practices and standards of electrical utility.
• Should be computer literate, and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to motivate and lead teams to meet deadlines
• Ability to manage systems and deliver to time in a structured manner with a quality result
• Excellent written and oral English language skills
Successful candidates will have a relevant degree in electrical engineering combined with extensive experience in the use of AutoCAD design software. Candidates should have at least 5- 7 years experience of working with a variety of project cost control systems, such as: MS Project or Primavera and processes. Candidates must be team players with strong analytical, interpretive, organizational, problem solving and excellent communication skills.



2. Highway Engineers (2 Nos)

The principal function of this position is to support the growing and diverse highways design and construction tasks in a way that value will be obtained for money spent at every stage of the construction process. The role gives the excitement and challenge of the design, evaluation and management of highway projects from concept through to completion through to managing a team in the most efficient manner.
Key responsibilities will be:
 Preparing and evaluating highway designs, reports and specifications.
 Ensuring that the designs are as per the brief and meet the required technical level.
 Ensuring that the final construction are as per the designs and meet the required technical level
 Supervising other team members and attending project meetings.
 Ensuring budgetary control and timeliness of projects.
 Coordination and evaluation of different design inputs to ensure compatibility with highway requirements, drainage requirements and infrastructure development needs
 Liaison with other project engineers regarding their requirements.
 Responsible for the preparation of cost estimates, cost forecasting and controls in respect of highway projects.
 Responsible for reviewing health, safety and environmental requirements of highway projects
 Reviewing highway drawings and material submittal documents, for efficient utilization of resources.
 Attending evaluation meetings to resolve highway construction issues.
 Liaison with the necessary authority on highway design/socio-economic impact and related issues.
 Technical coordination with other utilities in a multi disciplinary infrastructure projects as required.
Key requirements
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
• Good general highway design and evaluation skills.
• should have a good knowledge of highway design and evaluation using MX software
• previous project evaluation and monitoring experience in urban and rural infrastructure would be advantageous
• Ability to deal with project demands, and work in a multi disciplinary team and work under pressure
• Should be computer literate, and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to motivate and lead teams to meet deadlines
• Ability to manage systems and deliver to time in a structured manner with quality results.
• Excellent written and oral English language skills
Suitable candidates will have a degree in civil engineering, with upwards of 5years cognate experience in project management, highways design and construction, the ability to use AutoCAD very efficiently is a plus and good management and communication skills are required.



3. Oil and Gas Engineers (2 Nos)

The Oil and gas engineers will be involved in all stages of oil and gas projects. They will estimate how much oil and gas that could be taken from a reservoir's rock, draw up plans to extract as much oil and gas as possible, decide on the best locations for production wells, and monitor and amend production schemes during the life of a reservoir. They will be responsible for evaluation of petroleum projects. They will review planned project plans, design and evaluate equipment, and monitor the work of the implementation team. They will also evaluate safety and analyze project performance.
Key responsibilities will be:
• Reviewing oil and gas projects work (using geological maps and previous reports)
• Reviewing and alternatively preparing engineering designs, estimates and proposal inputs
• Ensuring Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEA)
• Organizing oil and gas project evaluation team to undertake site visitations and project testing
• Conducting the fieldwork (checking for services, selecting test locations, logging soil and rock profile, etc)
• Selecting samples for laboratory testing and nominating the tests required
• Review previous and new data, prepare geotechnical model, conduct analyses that may be necessary
• Responsible for the preparation of cost estimates, cost forecasting and controls in respect of petroleum projects.
• Responsible for reviewing health, safety and environmental requirements of petroleum projects
• Reviewing petroleum drawings and material submittal documents, for efficient utilization of resources.
• Attending evaluation meetings to resolve petroleum projects issues.
• Liaison with the necessary authority on petroleum design/socio-economic impact and related issues.
• Technical coordination with other projects in a multi disciplinary infrastructure projects is required.




Key requirements
The successful candidate should possess a degree in Petroleum Engineering with a sound knowledge of engineering designs, and be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
• Experience of oil and gas design/ experience in oilfield working with consultants/contractors.
• Experience in on-shore and off shore projects, and the workings of Joint Venture Projects in Nigeria.
• Should be well accustomed with the practices and standards of local content within the oil and gas industry.
• Should be computer literate.
• Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to motivate and lead teams to meet deadlines
• Ability to manage projects and work to time schedule in a structured manner with quality result on oil and gas projects
• Excellent written and oral English language skills
Suitable candidates will possess B.Sc in Petroleum Engineering plus upwards of 7- 10 years hands-on experience. Candidates with an appreciable familiarity and understanding of the operating parameters of the oil and gas Industry, will be so appointed.
