Ladipo Market Has Turned To An 'environmental Death Trap'- Says Who? by oakdanny: 6:13am On Jul 11, 2006
It is ludicrous to see how power is channeled to the wrong direction in the nation of Nigeria. In a country where most of the residential areas are sitting on an environmental time bomb, one wonders how marketplaces would be left out of the trend. The indefinite closure of Ladipo market will not solve the problems of  environmental degradation in that part of Lagos, rather it will create a bitter animosity between the traders and the landlords. No matter how genuine the reasons behind the closure of the market sounds, everyone is going to loose at the end. The State, the shop owners and the Landlords. The outcome of some decisions needs to be weighed over and over again before they are enforced. With the closure of the Ladipo market, the authorities have shown their ignorance to simple economics of trade.
