Flying Eagles Stress About Injured Yahaya

The Flying Eagles are sweating on the fitness of star forward Musa Yahaya, who is nursing a knee injury he suffered in a warm-up match in Ghana.

The former Golden Eaglet is expected to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury he suffered when he was tackled in the Flying Eagles second friendly against Ghana on Wednesday.

The injury forced him out of the match in the 39th minute.

Tottenham starlet, Yahaya, who scored in the Flying Eagles first match against the Black Satellites, did not join the rest of the squad at the gym at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja Friday morning.

The other injury worry for the Nigeria U20 team is central defender Zaharadeen Bello.

Bello has been nursing a calf injury and as a result he did not feature in the second friendly against Ghana in Tema, which the Flying Eagles won 2-0.

“We will review their cases and see what can be done promptly,” disclosed Flying Eagles doctor Ozi Salami.

The 2015 African Youth Championship kicks off March 8 in Dakar with the Flying Eagles tackling hosts Senegal, who have been training at the Aspire Academy in Qatar for several months, in the opening game.

I never liked that Ghana friendly. Ghanaians take any game against Nigeria as war. Always wanting to prove a point due to their inferiority complex against Nigeria.

I wish Yahaya speedy recovery. We need him in the upcoming AYC. With the likes of Iheanacho, Success and Nwakali out we cant lose Yahaya too.

IHEANACHO TO GATE CRASH AYC FINAL SQUAD?

AfricanFootball.com can exclusively report today that Manchester City have launched a last-minute frantic move to get starlet Kelechi Iheanacho on Nigeria final squad for next month’s African Youth Championship.

After first saying the player will be unavailable for the AYC in Senegal due to injury, English Premier League champions City have now made a dramatic u-turn, saying Iheanacho could be released to join the Flying Eagles for Senegal 2015 as he has fully recovered ahead of a mid-March time frame earlier set by the EPL club.

The 18-year-old player himself has called up coach Manu Garba to inform him he has recovered from a long-term ankle injury, while expressing his willingness to feature at the AYC.

The MVP for the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup, who followed the team’s recent warm-up matches in Ghana via telephone, told Manu he will even play a match for City reserves on Tuesday.

A source further said: “The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are expected to liase with the medical staff of City to determine the extent of Kelechi’s recovery after which a final decision will be taken on this issue.”

The NFF have till Thursday midnight to submit to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) a final 21-man squad for the AYC.

I hope Iheanacho joins his U20 Eagles team mates and blend fast with the squad.

Simon Moses Inspires Gent To Victory

Moses Simon is proving to be a shrewd bargain for Belgium side Gent, as he scored their first goal in their 2-1 win over league leaders Club Brugge.

Simon chested down a through ball from Daniel Milicevic and without breaking his stride lashed the ball home in the 23rd minutes for his sixth goal in seven games since joining Gent in January.

Gent went into the break leading Brugge thanks to Moses' goal but Ruud Vormer levelled things up for the visitors 16 minutes after resumption for the second half.

The Ghelamco arena was stunned into silence by that equaliser but they found their voices in the 72nd minute, when once again Moses played a big role in forcing Timmy Simons into an own goal.

Gent moved up to third with the victory, while Club Brugge missed a great chance to extend their lead at the top, although they are still guaranteed to stay top regardless of other results.

Iheanacho playing for the U20 National team will be a boost to his image and brand than him playing in the Manchester City reserves. I feel it is time for Man City coaches to give Nacho the chance to join his National team mates.

The AYC is a top FIFA tournament. Holding on to Nacho will not be beneficial to Man City in the long run.

Flying Eagles Boss Assures That Only Best Performers Will Make Senegal

Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba says his final team selection for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship will be devoid of sentiments.

The final team lists for the competition are expected to be submitted to CAF latest midnight of Thursday, February 26.

Twenty-eight players are in the provisional list, of which seven will be dropped – but it is expected that the bulk of the team will come from the 2013 U17’s - but Manu has promised to make his selections devoid of any sentiments.

“The selection we are going to make will not be fraught with sentiments, I can promise you that,” he began.

“It is strictly going to be based on what each player has contributed since we started this process, not what they did in the past.

“I know everybody probably thinks the team will be made up predominantly of the last U17 boys, and even though that is possible, it will be because they deserve to be in the team and not because they played in the U17,” he told sl10.ng.

Genk of Belgium starlet Wilfried Ndidi has been included in the provisional list and is expected to make the final 21, although that will depend on the NFF securing his release on time.

Chidiebere Nwakali is certain to miss out, after his club, Manchester City said he would not be released for the tournament, but it remains to be seen if Kelechi Iheanacho will make the final cut.

Spurs Wonderkid Musa Yahaya To Miss AYC

SL10.ng can exclusively report that Tottenham Hotspur youth - teamer Musa Yahaya will miss next month's African Youth Championship due to injury.

The Mutunchi Academy product sustained a knee injury last week as the Nigeria Under 20s defeated their Ghanaian counterparts 2 - 0 in a pre - African Youth Championship friendly.

Musa Yahaya has had a scan to ascertain the damage, and national team medics have disclosed that he will be spending the next six weeks on the sidelines.

''Musa Yahaya will be out of action for six weeks, and will not be traveling with the Flying Eagles for the African Youth Championship,'' a source close to the 17 year old told SL10.ng.

''The injury is a little bit serious. In the friendly against Ghana, he got a knock on his knee. He is still in camp now but will soon return to Tottenham Hotspur to undergo further treatment.''

Musa Yahaya is disappointed that he will not feature at the AYC, but he's praying fervently for the Flying Eagles to qualify for this summer's Fifa Under 20 World Cup.

''Musa feels bad because he wanted to be in the squad, but he has taken it in good faith.

''He is praying that they qualify for the World Cup so he can be part of the team again, ‘he added.

Musa Yahaya was one of the standout players at the 2013 Fifa Under 17 World Cup, scoring 4 goals in 7 games.

If Iheanacho has started full training with the Man City reserve team, then he is fit to play the AYC.

The training routine at Man City for players who are likely to break into the main team is tedious. Even the recuperating training is tedious at Man City.

If the medical staffs of City feel he is ready, then Coach Manu Garba should send his invitation later. The earlier the better.

Nigeria Under 20 international Uche Agbo made his debut for Granada in their 2 - 1 loss to Levante in the 24th round of games in the Spanish La Liga.

Having started from the bench, the 19 - year - old was introduced with five minutes of normal time remaining in place of Javi Márquez.

But things did not work out well for Granada after his introduction, with the Abel Resino led side conceding two goals.

Youssef El Arabi opened scoring for the visitors in the 13th minute after he converted his spot kick.

And the scoreline remained the same until Víctor Camarasa popped up with the equalizer before David Barral netted the match - winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Nigeria international Kalu Uche started and completed the game for Levante while ex Golden Eaglets star Isaac Success failed to come off the bench.

Iheanacho Injured Again

Any hope of Flying Eagles star midfielder Kelechi Iheanacho featuring for Nigeria at next month Africa Youth Championship is now almost gone, after he got another injury, playing for Manchester City Under-19 in the UEFA youth league.

Although yet to be granted a work permit, that will enable him play for the club main team, the Taiye Academy product is allowed to play for the Under-18 in the UEFA youth league as a player on trial.

The competition is opened to European youth clubs and UEFA, for the use of players who are not contractually binded to their clubs.

In his first game for the team since starring in preseason with the first team the Nigerian was named on the substitute bench for the City side, against Germany Schalke 04.

Iheanacho who only recently returned from an injury lay off was introduced as a second half substitute, but had to be substituted with 10 minutes left to play after picking up an injury that ended his participation in the game.

Nacho like he is fondly called has been tipped to gate crash into the Nigeria team, preparing for next month’s Africa Youth Championship, after making a remarkable recovery from an injury that was expected to keep him out of the tournament.

His participation at the tournament is looking a little doubtful, even though there is no report of how long he is expected to be out of action, but it appears to be a re occurrence of the same injury he has just recovered from.

If ruled out of the tournament, his absence will come as a setback to both Coach Manu Garba of the Nigeria Under-20, who was hoping he will make up for the injury enforced absence off Tottenham Hotspurs, Musa Yahaya.

It will also be a blow to Manchester City aspiration of landing him a work permit as they were hoping a strong showing at the youth championship, will solidify their claims to the home office to grant him a permit using the special talent rule.

Manchester City who were 1-0 up conceded a late goal after Iheanacho departure, but still hung on to win the last 16 tie on penalties winning 3-1.

I am not up there with Pellegrini when it comes to understanding the technicality of retaining but the Man City training seems tedious and hard. Even into the main squad, a lot of players injure regularly like Nasri, Silva, Jovetic, Dzeko, Fernando, Fernandinho, Kompany etc.

I think Pellegrini can maintain his hard workouts but reduce the number of times. Even Nwakali just recovered from an injury.

Speedy Recovery Nacho.

I find it funny that you always justify everything man city does concerning Kelechi even when it's obviously not the right thing

I mean, there's always some reason why it's for 'the best'....I mean, decisions you would probably have stroked Mourinho for if Kelechi was in Chelsea. It's really funny smiley

It seems you did not get my point.

Man City has one of the best recuperation facilities in World football today. The technology used cost a lot of money. For instance, there is this swimming pool work out equipment they use which cause the bones to heal fast.

Look at the quick recovery of Nasri and Aguero which were almost two months before the estimated return from their injuries.

So what I am critical about it is the training after that. I feel our workout sessions is too hard and that is why players are injuring.

I feel Man City should reduce the tediousness of our workout. That is why I said Nacho should be called to the U20 squad because the training he will go through at Man City will be more tedious than that under Manu Garba's camp. So I do not know how my points defend Man City. I was even being critical.

So, I am okay with the tediousness of the workouts but during Man City training programs, they do the routines three times.

For instance, if Tottenham FC players do 100 pushups, Man City players will do 150 pushups at three different times. I wish they could do the150 pushups twice instead of three. I feel the number of times should he reduced.

Nigeria's Ndidi to miss AYC

Nigeria have been dealt another blow ahead of next month’s African Youth Championship after Belgian club Genk refused to release star defender Wilfred Ndidi for the tournament.

Genk held a special meeting on Wednesday and decided highly-rated central defender Ndidi will not be released to the Flying Eagles for the AYC in Senegal, which starts on March 8 in Dakar, on account of club commitments.

Genk, who are within the bracket for the Belgian championship playoffs, have earlier made it clear they will need 18-year-old Ndidi for crucial league games on March 7 and March 15.

“It’s a big blow for the Flying Eagles because Ndidi is key to coach Manu Garba’s plans for the AYC. He is the team's most experienced defender. The player too is very devastated,” a top source informed AfricanFootball.com

Manchester City first blocked Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali from the AYC, before Tottenham Hotspur teenager Musa Yahaya was ruled out of the tournament on account of a knee injury.

Adi Viveash Picks Ola Aina As Chelsea's Best Player

Chelsea Under 19 coach, Adi Viveash, has spoken about his admiration for Ola Aina following his five star performance in the victory over Zenith St Petersburg in the UEFA Youth League.

Chelsea conceded after 12 minutes but their defense was not breached again after the goal, and the manager has thanked Aina for sticking to the Zenith St Petersburg winger like glue.

''I thought our best player though was Ola Aina; he was very good because their left winger is as good as any I’ve seen in the competition and he didn’t give him a sniff,'' coach Adi Viveash told Chelsea's official
website.

The manager also praised Dominic Solanke, who scored for the ninth consecutive game, and his 28th goal in all competitions.

''Kasey Palmer scored another special goal and he was also intelligent on the ball and worked very hard for the team.

''While Solanke going up front gave us something else in the second half because he’s probably the best number nine in the competition,'' said Adi
Viveash.

Born in London, Ola Aina has appeared 19 times for the youth teams of England.

Defence is thin but it is a good team based on who is available.

Pygbara is a good player but I am not sure, he is within the age grade but since yahaya is missing, he is the most likely replacement.

Usman sale another good player,

The rest of the team was predictable.
