I walked to school, not being bothered to
get into an argument with Damian. I had
stolen back my keys last night while he was
sleeping, foolish boy. I was following some
kids in the uniform hoping they weren't
skipping. Luckily they weren't and I arrived
at a huge school. Sucking in a deep breath I
walked inside to the office.
"Hello I'm Alexis Matthews," I smiled
politely.
The secretary smiled back and rummaged
around beneath her desk. She produced a
few pieces of paper and handed them to me.
"I'm Mrs Beckson," she said with a nod.
I smiled in response and headed to the
locker number on my sheet of paper. I
checked my schedule as I threw my bag in
my locker.
First period - Maths
Second period - Study hall
Tutor
Break
Third period - Science
Fourth Period - English
Dinner
Fifth period - French
Sixth period - Gym
I sighed and trudged down the corridor in
what I hoped to be the direction of maths.

By half way through maths I was banging
my head on the table in boredom. I had
already done this subject so I was so bored
it was unbelievable.
"Am I boring you Miss Matthews?" the
teacher growled.
"Truthfully? Yes," I nodded blankly.
"Get out," he spat.
"Gladly," I rolled my eyes as got up, shoving
my chair backwards.
I grabbed my notebook and pen then strode
casually out the room and down the
deserted hallway. I tapped my pen on the
lockers and walls as I passed, making a tune
to amuse myself.
"Old Godzilla was hopping around, Tokyo
city like a big playground," I sung quietly.
"What are you doing out of class?"
Nathaniel asked.
I looked up in surprise and saw Nathaniel,
my brother Darren, Kieran and Alpha Zane
with his crew from the other day.
"Walking?" I winced and put my hands
behind my back.
"You got kicked out didn't you?" Darren
said with a grin.
"Maybe," I grinned back at him.
Damian walked out then and when he saw me
he narrowed his eyes in anger. Well damn.
"And what are you doing out of class?" he
snapped.
"Got kicked out," I folded my arms and
eyed him up with a wicked grin.
"WHAT THE HELL ALEXIS?" he yelled.
Oh no he didn't just yell at me!
"Oh go DIE in a HOLE Damian, I don't need
you BREATHING DOWN MY NECK," I
retorted angrily.
"I AM YOUR ALPHA, RESPECT ME," he
bellowed.
Oh no he's not!
"You're not my Alpha. I never joined your
pack," I sneered.

He stepped forward and I glared at him.
Spinning on my heel I stormed back down
the hallway slamming the door at the end.
I'm childish deal with it dude!!! I froze
halfway down the corridor and squeezed my
eyes shut. Oh God, please say he didn't
register what I just said.

CHAPPTER FIVE
ZANE POV
I kicked back and eyed the class around me coldly. People irritated me...a lot. Well, that female Matthews kid isn't as irritating as I expected her to be. She's starting to earn my respect. Alexis is certainly amusing. Got kicked out of her class...aha...then when Damian said-wait a minute. My face contorted into shock.
"What's wrong?" Jared frowned when he saw my face.
"When Alexis and Damian were arguing. He said 'I'm your Alpha, respect me,' Alexis said..." I started.
"You are not my Alpha, I never joined your pack," Ryan said slowly.
"But he said she didn't know," Jared argued.
I stared at them with a thoughtful expression and contemplated it.
"So he lied?" Ryan said with an arched eyebrow.
"What would he get out of lying?" Jared replied with a shake of his head.
"Well then...what the hell is going on?" Mark grunted.
"They don't know she's one of us," I said with a smirk slowly curling at my lips.
The guys looked at me in surprise.
"Damian is so used to pulling the Alpha card over his brothers that when it came to his sister he forgot she "isn't" supernatural and gave her the Alpha he gives them. Alexis was so fired up she must have forgotten he doesn't know about her and replied in anger," I explained with a smirk," the question is, why isn't she telling them the truth?"
The guys grinned at me.

ALEXIS POV
I sat with my feet on the library table
reading a book about zombies. I have
detention okay? There are no kids in here
beside me and the Zane crew as I now call
them. The chair beside me was pulled out
loudly and I looked up to see them all
surrounding me. Ah what the hell?
"What?" I asked suspiciously.
I popped the bubble I was blowing and
sucked my pink bubble gum back into my
mouth.
"So...we heard your argument with Damian,"
Zane said with a dark smirk.
"It's the only time we ever have any type of
conversation," I rolled my eyes and looked
back at the book.
Zane chuckled but quickly became serious
again. I stared at them in amusement and
put my book on the table. There's no way
they're going away anytime soon is there?
"Yeah...about the argument..." he trailed off.
"What?" I raised an eyebrow and folded my
arms.
I have a strong feeling I know where this is
going.
"You know about werewolves," it wasn't a
question, it was a statement.
I stared at him calmly and blew another
bubble then popped it loudly.
"Yeah I know about werewolves, they're
mythical creatures. Half man half wolf.
What about them?" I said simply.
"Cut the crap Matthews what are you and
why don't your brothers know?" Zane said
in a low voice.
"Well I know about werewolves because I
watched Twilight," I pulled a face, not my
favourite film, "and my brothers should
know actually because werewolves are a
commonly used mythical creature for
horror movies and scary stories," I
deflected him.

Zane snorted and leant in so his face was
right up in mine. Not a bad sight really,
tanned chiselled face and messy blond hair.
"While you two were busy shouting at each
other BOTH of you slipped up didn't you?
Damian said he was your Alpha and you said
he wasn't and never would be," Zane said
cockily.
I chewed my gum arrogantly and raised an
eyebrow. Show no fear.
"Don't worry sweetheart, no one other than
us picked up on it, but the question is...why
should we keep quiet about it?" he grinned
crookedly at me, thinking he held all the
cards.
"Because if you don't I will make your life a
living HELL Zane," I said calmly with a
sweet smile on my face for the benefit of
the teacher who looked at us before
leaving.
"How would you do that sweetheart?" he
mocked me.
I growled and the bulb above his head
shattered sending shards of glass hurtling
down at us. I swatted my hand and the glass
flew at the wall without touching any of us.
All of the boys flinched and I smirked
slightly.
"Maybe like that," I said with a monotone
voice.
Zane stared at me with calculating eyes, his
lips curled up nastily.
"Don't f*ck with me little girl, you don't
know what you're getting into," he
whispered right in my face again.
Up close I noticed his eyes had specks of
silver in them.
"Oh so what are you then, badass," I
inquired sarcastically.
His hands burst into silver flames and his
eyes fully coloured silver.
"Ooh, hard core," I mocked him.
I shouldn't be mocking him, I've been told
of these powers. Silver flames are a rarity
and VERY dangerous. I might be in over my
head.
"Well you won't tell him," I said confidently.
"And why's that sweet cheeks?" Zane
responded.
"You won't tell him because don't you think
we can have more fun without him knowing?
Just this morning I pulled the bulb trick and
had him screaming like a little girl," I said
with a wicked grin.
Zane's lips curled up to match my mine and
I extended a hand.
"Let's keep this between ourselves and
have a little fun. You don't strike me as
Damian's number one fan," I raised an
eyebrow and gave him a bemused look.
Zane stared at my hand for a moment then
slipped his calloused tanned hand into it.
"I think we're going to have some fun
Alexis, we are definitely one of a kind," he
said smugly.
"I guess so," I replied.
I flicked my hand and flashed out genie
style.

CHAPTER SIX
ALEXIS POV
I unpeeled my banana and took a bite. As I
took a bite my eyes met Zane's and I
watched as his lips curled up into a smirk. It
was now Friday and no word was mentioned
about it. I suddenly realised that what I was
doing could be quite provocative. Quickly I
looked down and finished my banana. Oh
damn!
ZANE POV
I dragged my eyes away from the attractive
badass Matthews kid. I'm starting to feel
guilty for judging her so soon. Out of the
corner of my eye I saw Damian pulling out a
chair to sit down on the table with the
other Matthews kids.
"Dude look," Gabe nudged me.
I turned and saw Alexis by the bin putting
her peel into it. Her eyes were trained on
Damian and there was a slight smirk tugging
at her lips. She bent slightly and pointed
her finger at Damon's chair. The chair
shook slightly but other than that didn't
move. I glanced at Alexis who was watching
Damian and as he started to sit down she
swept her finger sideways. My lips formed
a smirk as his chair skidded backwards and
Damian fell flat on his ass.
"Who moved my chair," he yelled.
Everyone at the table shrugged and Damian
started to shake. Alexis smirked and walked
off into the school.
ALEXIS POV
I walked down the corridors and suddenly
felt hands on my shoulders. I was rammed
through a classroom door and slammed up
against a black board. The attacker was a
girl who weirdly enough didn't look to be a
slut.
"How dare you? He is mine," she snarled.
"Get off me," I gritted my teeth to stop my
powers taking over and glared at her.
"You just had to come and ruin everything
didn't you?" she said angrily.
"I advise you to let go of me now and step
away before I do something I will regret,"
I said with a low growl.
"HE IS MINE," she bellowed.
"THAT'S IT, I WARNED YOU," I
thundered angrily.
I head butted her and she fell backwards
stunned. I swept her feet out from under
her and she crashed to the floor. Before
she could move I was on top of her pinning
her to the floor.
"Who are you talking about?" I snapped.
"Darren Matthews," she ground out.
I burst out laughing and rolled off her so I
was laid on the floor beside her.
"What's so funny?" she snapped.
"I don't think we've properly met have we?
What's your name?" I asked with a grin.

"Lea Fieldings, you?" she answered with a
scowl.
"Alexis Matthews," I smirked.
"As in..." she trailed off.
I chuckled and watched as her face
contorted in realisation.
"As in Darren's little sister," I laughed.
"Oh," she muttered scratching the back of
her neck.
I stood up and offered my hand. She took it
and I yanked her up. Lea looked at the floor
looking highly embarrassed while her
cheeks were bright red.
"I'm sorry," she apologised sincerely.
"It's okay, I'm sorry if I hurt you," I
smiled slightly.
Lea walked out the classroom and I
followed her. We walked down the corridor
side by side completely silent before Lea
put her hand on my shoulder to stop me.
"I really am sorry Lexie," she bit her lip.
"Lexie?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I'm hoping we can forget that little
episode and be friends?" she winced.
"Yeah, I'd like that," I nodded.
Lea beamed and started to chatter as we
wandered down the corridors aimlessly.
She was nearly a complete opposite to me I
noticed in amusement. Lea had shoulder
length light blonde hair and sparkling green
eyes. She was a head taller than me but was
slim and curvy like me. Lea looked like a
complete goddess. We exited the school
and sat down on a picnic bench outside
laughing. When I looked up I saw Damian
heading over to Zane. Both their jaws were
clenched and their eyes were narrowed. I
used my powers to move a can under
Damian's foot so he tripped and face
planted on the floor. Everyone roared with
laughter, even my brothers and friends
were struggling to keep it in. My eyes
connected with Zane's and I winked at him.
"Wow I never realised Damian was so
clumsy," Lea chuckled.
I smirked and leant back on my elbows.
"I know Damian is so clumsy," I said.
Lea laughed and Damian shot us a glare
obviously hearing us.
"Need to be more careful bro," I called out
to him.
He growled quietly and I knew this was my
way in.
"Dude...that was a bit weird...did you just
growl?" I fake frowned.
Damian cleared his throat.
"I didn't growl, maybe you just imagined it,"
he lied quickly.
"No you definitely growled...what are you a
werewolf?" I grinned.
Damon laughed and rolled his eyes at me
though I could see it was strained.
"Yeah, I'm a big bad wolf," he swirled his
hands.
"Big gay wolf," I corrected him.
Damian let it slide for once.
"Tonight wait in the car park I'm taking you
home," Damian ordered.
"But I..." I started.
"DON'T ARGUE WITH ME," Damian
snarled.
"Well aren't you just a delightful bag of
shit," I said dryly.
Lea fell sideways off the table, my
brothers mouths dropped open and Zane
spat his drink all over the table. Then as
one they all burst out laughing while Damian
stamped his foot childishly.

CHAPTER SEVEN





ALEXIS POV

I sat cross legged on the table and leant my

elbows on my knees.

"What's up?" a rough masculine voice asked.

I tilted my head to see Zane leaning on the

black board. His muscles were bulging

because of the way he was leaning and his

blond hair was stuck up in random

directions. Looks like Zane's been running

or getting busy with someone. I snorted

silently at the thought of someone dumb

enough to sleep with him at school.

"Other than the fact that I'm stuck in

detention?" I grinned.

Zane chuckled before walking over to me

and leaning on my table.

"Why Alexis? Why are you lying to them?"

Zane probed gently.

"Why not?" I laughed.



ZANE POV

She laughed but now I looked closely I

could see the tiredness, the pain and the

depression on her face.

"Alexis," I narrowed my eyes.

I don't like it when people lie to me, I'm

Alpha they should tell me when I ask.

"Just leave it Zane," she snapped.


ALEXIS POV

"Why don't we talk about your Mum," Zane

straddled a chair.

"Excuse me?" I choked.

"Committed suicide right? Wonder why,"

Zane looked thoughtful.

"That's a bit insensitive," my mouth fell

open.

"Do you think it was because of you? That

she committed suicide?" Zane inquired

rudely.

"No," I yelled.

Zane raised an eyebrow at me and spun his

chair round so he could lean back in it.

"And how do you know that?" he smirked.

"Because...because...SHE WAS KILLED SHE

DIDN'T COMMIT SUICIDE," I shouted.

Zane stood up then and put his hands on the

table on either side of me.

"And the truth comes out," he whispered.

I closed my eyes and a little sigh escaped

my lips. My head moved forward slightly

and mine and Zane's foreheads ended up

pressed together.

"Who did it Alexis?" Zane pushed softly.

I shook my head and Zane grabbed my chin.

My eyes snapped open and our eyes

connected. I felt myself slowly getting lost

and both our breathing sped up at our close

proximity. Zane tilted his head and slowly

pushed our lips together. Fire erupted and

spread throughout my entire body. Zane

moaned against my lips and kissed me

harder. His hands slid up and down my waist

letting tingles rush through me making me

groan.

Suddenly I felt my body turn into genie
smoke and I was whizzed out the room. I
whirled round the school and out onto the
street. I tried to stop but it was useless,
someone must have rubbed my lamp. I
whooshed into the house and straight into
my lamp. My body resumed its normal state
and I dropped onto my feet on the plush
red carpet.
Sighing I flopped down on the comfy black
sofa and rubbed my genie ball. The purple
mist evaporated and I saw Douglas, Kieran
and Samuel. Kieran was holding my lamp and
turning and twisting it around.
"What is this?" Kieran inquired.
My lamp asshole.
"Probably some sort of ornament," Samuel
shrugged.
So put it down.
"Why was it under her bed?" Kieran
frowned.
To keep it away from filthy hands like
yours...and why were you under my bed?
"Maybe she hadn't got round to putting it
out," Douglas replied.
So put it down.
"Maybe," Kieran muttered.
None of them were looking at the lamp so I
clicked my fingers. I flew out and landed
gracefully behind them.
"Put it down," I snapped.
Kieran jumped and dropped the lamp. I
dived and skidded along the floor on my
stomach. The lamp landed in my hands and I
breathed a sigh of relief.
"Why were you in my room?" I growled.
I stood up and placed the lamp on my chest
of drawers gently.
"Um...snooping," Douglas put his head down.
"Get out," I jerked my head in the direction
of the door.
They trudged out dragging their feet
behind them and I closed the door behind
them. I locked the door then ran my finger
along it to keep it closed by putting a spell
on it. My finger turned purple and I swirled
it round. I flashed back to the classroom I
had been in and landed easily on my feet.
"And you're back," Zane spoke up.
I turned and saw Zane and crew sat at the
back.
"People snooping in my bedroom messing
with my stuff," I muttered darkly.
"Who?" Zane raised an eyebrow.
The kissing seemed to have been forgotten
thankfully.
"Douglas, Samuel and Kieran," I raked a
hand down my face, "screw detention I'm
off."
Turning I wandered out of the room and
down the hallway. Lea popped up next to me
and grinned.
"Hey Lea," I nodded.
"Sup Lexie," she laughed.
"What are you wearing?" the head teacher
boomed.
We turned to see him stood there with his
arms crossed looking absolutely furious.
"The uniform sir," Lea smirked.
"Why are you wearing it like that?" he
growled.
"Like what sir?" I smirked.
"Like gypsies," he bellowed, "and why are
you wearing makeup Matthews?"
"It's Alexis, and because i feel like it," I
folded my arms.

"Both of you my office now," he snarled.
"Sorry sir but we have lesson now," Lea
shrugged looking smug.
"We can't miss lesson because we'll get
behind with our work won't we sir?" I
pouted.
He started to shake and his face turned
red with anger.
"Break then," he thundered.
"Ahh sorry, already booked up, got
detention in maths," Lea's lips quirked up at
the side as she lied.
"Okay Leanna, how about dinner?" he
gritted his teeth.
"Whoops, dinner's booked up too, and
tomorrow's a big no right Lexie?" Lea
grinned.
"Yeah that's right, and the next day. We're
booked solid for the next month, how about
we come see you a month from now to
discuss our punishments? Got to go, got a
lesson to get to," I grinned as I lied easily.
We walked around the teacher and round
the corner.
"I didn't know your name was Leanna," I
pointed out.
"I don't know a lot about you," Lea retorted.
"Touché," I nodded.
She didn't know a lot about me and
probably never would.


DAMIAN POV
"Hey dude there's something weird going
on with Alexis," Douglas informed me.
I propped my feet up on the science
teachers desk and frowned at him.
"What?" I inquired.
"She has a genie lamp," Samuel folded his
arms.
I sat forward intrigued and leant my elbows
on the table.
"Tell me more," I ordered.
Very interesting, so my little sister has a
genie lamp...why?

CHAPTER EIGHT

ALEXIS POV
I was sitting in the library after school, you
guessed it I have detention yet again
although this time I'm alone, not even a
teacher here. I scrolled through the
pictures in my iPod and found one that really
amused me. The door unlocked and Damian
walked in with a determined expression.
"What's up knobstick?" I asked.
Damian shot me a glare before sitting in
front of me.
"So I ordered the guys to go through your
room because ever since you arrived here
strange things have been happening. You're
not like the other kids, there's something
off about you so I admit I very wrongly
ordered them into your room. We found a
genie lamp," Damian folded his arms.
"Cool story bro, needs more dragons and
shit," I yawned.
Damian shot me a dirty look then leaned
forward so his face was inches from mine.
"Why do you have a genie lamp?" he
demanded.
"Mustache cat likes cookies," I waved my
iPod in his face.
Hey this reminds me of the confrontation
with Zane a while ago.
"Alexis," Damian growled
"Genie lamps aren't real Damian," I shook
my head, "now back to real things...like
moustache cats that like cookies."
"They are and you have one," he pointed
out.
"I have a moustache cat that likes cookies?"
I blinked.
"No genie lamps are real and you have one,"
he snapped.
"They aren't and I don't," I frowned.
Damian stared at me for a moment then
leaned back with a thoughtful expression.
"Well what was that thing that the boys
found then? An ornament?" Damian said
slowly.
"Yes," I slapped my palms on the table.
"Where did you get it?" he snapped.
"Mum gave it to me for my sixteenth
birthday," I shrugged.
Damian ran his tongue over his lips to
moisten them as he thought that over.
"Where did she get it?" he inquired.
"I don't know I don't go around
INTERROGATING people when they give
me GIFTS," I yelled.
Damian let out a soft laugh then leant
forward.
"You see that is definitely a genie lamp but
there's no genie home," he spoke calmly but
his eyes were hard.
"Okay I'll play along with your crazy
imaginary game, maybe the genie escaped
hold the lamp somehow, cut the bond,
became a human," I said in a dumb tone.

"Genies can never cut the bond with their
lamp, so obviously that lamp is yours or
Mum's. Mum's dead so you could keep it
because she's no longer bound to it
however if Mum's a genie so are you. You
didn't pick up the werewolf gene so you
must have picked up hers," Damian roared.
He threw genie dust in my face and I
sneezed. Genie dust exposes a genie
basically. From the waist down I turned into
a spiral of purple genie smoke and my eyes
glowed bright purple. Damian smirked and
my eyes widened in horror.
"Well I better go tell Dad," he strode to the
door.
I pulled my body back to normal but kept my
eyes purple to let my genie out. I whirled in
front of Damian and looked deep into my
eyes. I hadn't wanted to do this but I had
to. I hated putting someone under genie
spells, it creeped me out. A perk of being a
genie is not just that I can sense liars but
also that I can hypnostise people or in
other terms compel them. I watched as
Damian's eyes slowly went blank and I knew
I had him.
"Now listen up Damian, you were wrong. The
lamp is a genie's lamp however the genie
who occupied it died a long time ago and the
lamp was then sold on as an ornament which
Mum purchased for me seeing as it looked
interesting. I am not a genie, there is
nothing supernatural about me at all. Mother
is not a genie, there is nothing supernatural
about her at all. You will drop any inquests
into my supernatural abilites and Mother's.
You will forget any of this ever happened,
you came in here to tell me off for..." I
trailed off as I thought.
Zane and crew walked in the library's other
entrance and looked at Damian and I
curiously.
"You came in here to tell me off because I
was talking with Zane and I told you that
you can't control me. We argued for a few
minutes then you strode to the door. You
will go find the others and you will tell them
about the lamp and order them to drop the
subject. Do you understand Damian?" I said
slowly.
"Yes," he said in a robotic voice.
I looked at him in an evaluating way as I
turned my eyes blue again then in one fluid
motion raised my hand, clicked it in front of
his face then held my hands behind my
back. Damian blinked and looked around him
for a second.
"I'm fed up of you never listening to me
Alexis," Damian thundered.
"I'm sorry, fine if it means that much to
you I'll stay away from Zane," I threw my
hands in the air dramatically.
"You never- your eyes. Your eyes are green.
But..." Damian's eyes widened and I knew he
was mulling over the idea of me being
supernatural.
"Knobstick," I cursed.
I let my purple eyes shine through and
watched as Damian slowly went blank again.
"A minute ago when my eyes were green it
was just a trick of the light. I am not a
supernatural or have any supernatural
abilites. Do you understand Damian?" I
sighed.
"Yes," Damian said the robotic voice.
I turned my eyes blue but this time made
sure they were blue. I clicked and yanked
my hands behind my back.
"What the hell are you on? Seriously you
need to stop taking them because you are on
a whole other world bro, maybe even on a
whole other alternative universe where
supernatural beings exist," I mocked him.
Damian shook his head and I knew he had a
killer headache, side effect.
"I'm sorry," he muttered before walking
out.

I watched him go then exhaled loudly.
"Ballsticks, that could have gone better," I
face palmed.
"What happened?" Zane piped up.
"They found my lamp, Damian confronted me
then threw genie dust all over. I was
screwed so a little compulsion was in
order," I shrugged.
My head pounded and I groaned quietly.
The headache side effect worked both
ways sadly, another reason I didn't do it
often. I sat down at my table and let my
forehead rest on the cool surface.
"Here," Zane called out.
I looked up in time to catch the packet of
tablets he threw at me. I checked the box
they came in and found that they helped
cure headaches. I swallowed two straight
up, I don't need water, then chucked them
back.
"Thanks," I forced a smile.
Zane just nodded and leant back in his seat
folding his arms. His eyes were watching me
intensely and there was a strange
expression on his face. I stared at him for
a moment then went to sleep on my desk.

CHAPTER NINE

I woke up and stretched my arms above my
head five seconds before a teacher walked
in.
"Detention is over, you can go," she waved
her hand dismissively.
Standing up I threw my bag over my
shoulder and sauntered out of detention. I
was on the steps outside the school building
when a large, warm hand caught onto my
arm. Turning I found Zane smirking down at
me and I cocked an eyebrow curiously.
"So....I was thinking and....you kind of owe
me don't you?" he said smugly.
"Why do I owe you?" I asked tiredly.
"For keeping quiet," he said simply.
"So what do you want Zane?" I folded my
arms and eyed him warily.
"Many things....but from you?
Nothing....yet....just keep in mind that you
owe me yeah? You may come in handy later
on," he said cryptically.
Shoving past me roughly he carried on down
the steps and headed over to his car.
"Weird," I mused.
I walked through the front door and heard
shouting from the games room. Curious I
crept down the hallway and peeked around
the partly open door. Darren, Douglas and
Kieran were on one team evidently by the
way they were sat and Sam and Damian
were on another....I have no idea where
Nathaniel was. By the looks of it Sam and
Damian were losing, I guessed because
Damian keeps swearing and Sam is growling
nonstop.
Moving silently into the room I watched
them play the game, it looked to be some
sort of fighting game but Damian and Sam
kept getting killed. Maybe I should try
and...bond...with my brothers.
"Can I play?" I asked quietly.
Their heads snapped towards me and I
forced a smile. Without a word Damian
tossed me a controller and patted the space
next to him on the red, leather couch. I
leapt over the back and landed perfectly
beside him earning a bemused look from
everyone.
"What do I do?" I looked at the controller
in confusion.
Damian pointed at the buttons telling me
their individual meanings and purpose to the
game.
"So I shoot like this," I pressed a button
and shot someone in the head.
Damian laughed and Darren cursed.
"Did I do it right?" I couldn't believe it, I
felt like a little kid seeking approval from
my big brother....what happened to defiance
and hatred?
"You did it right," Damian nudged me gently
with his shoulder in a friendly way making
me smile slightly.
"So I kill the guy in purple, the guy with
glasses and the guy with a skirt?" I
checked.

"It's a kilt," Kieran roared.
I killed his character.
“Okay next time Alexis is on my team,”
Darren announced.
“No way, first time on my team always on my
team,” Damian retorted.
I chuckled awkwardly and left the room,
heading to the kitchen. Opening the fridge
I took out a can of Pepsi and cracked it
open.
“Hey,” Nathaniel piped up.
I found him sitting at the table and I raised
an eyebrow curiously.
“What you doing in here?” I inquired
perching on a stool opposite him.
“I found my ma....” he cleared his throat.
“What?” I knew what he was going to say
but played along.
“I found my...uh...uh....mail had been
delivered to the wrong...uh...house and there
was this girl and she was really beautiful. I
really want to ask her out but she won’t talk
to me because she thinks I’m a player,”
Nathaniel covered up his mistake.
“Well...” I thought about it, “Give her a
reason to trust you. Doing something special
and sweet, she’ll grow to trust you. Don’t
even look at other girls, just focus on her
all the time. In fact, point her out on
Monday and I’ll throw in a good word for
you.”
I don’t mind Nathaniel; he’s a good guy, so
I’ll help him....it’ll give me something to do
while I scheme.
“Thanks Alexis,” he said gratefully.
I slid off the stool and walked out.
“I’m sorry,” Damian said reluctantly.
I turned to find him watching me from the
darkness of the hallway.
“What?” Damian just apologised? What
parallel universe did I just stumble into?
“I’ve been a bit of a dick since you arrived,”
he said dryly.
“A bit of a dick? You’ve been a...” I trailed
off at his angry glare, “sorry carry on.”
“I was just kind of angry and ashamed of
myself for not being there for you or Mum.
I just...I....” he rubbed his hand down his
face.
“It’s okay, it really is,” I said forcing a
smile.
He smiled at me and hugged me making me
tense. I’m not too good with physical
contact.
“You’re a good sister Alexis,” he murmured
into my hair before disappearing into the
front room.
For the first time since I arrived....I felt
guilty at what I was going to do.
I was dressed in my Saturday uniform of
grey sweats and a black tank top. I had
nothing on my feet and my hair was in a
messy ponytail. I jumped over the banister
and landed easily in a crouch position.
Silence was cloaking the house so I guessed
everyone had gone out, it was 1pm, I slept
for ages this morning.
I grabbed a box of cheerios from the shelf
and plonked down on the couch to eat them
dry straight out the packet. I was halfway
through the box when there was a knock on
the door. Groaning in frustration I threw
the cheerios all over the room, didn't
particularly think that move through seeing
as I'm going to have to clean them up, and
headed to the front door.
No sooner had I opened it then I was
yanked outside roughly and dragged down
my driveway. It took me a second to work
out it was Zane.
"Zane what are you doing you bitchtard," I
yelled.

"Bitchtard?" he threw me a disturbed look.
"Yes bitchtard," I said in anger, "where are
we going?"
"Remember that favour you owe me?" he said
slowly.
"Yes," I sighed.
"Well I'm cashing it in," he glanced back at
me before shoving me into his car.

CHAPTER TEN

I clicked my tongue against the roof of my
mouth and the sound echoed throughout the
silent car.
"Stop that," Zane shot me a glare and his
hands tightened on the steering wheel.
"Stop what?" I asked.
"Clicking your tongue against the roof of
your mouth," he replied angrily.
"Why should I?" I fired back rudely.
"Because it's irritating me," he snapped in
response to my taunt.
I rolled my eyes but shut up and stared out
the window at the passing trees. I sighed
and heard Zane growl.
"Can't you be quiet?" he said through
gritted teeth.
"What crawled up your butt and died?" I
glanced over at him with my eyebrows
pulled together in a frown.
Zane clenched his jaw and his knuckles went
white with the amount of pressure he was
putting on the wheel.
"You're going to break that," I pointed out.
Zane just growled lightly and I chuckled.
"Just be quiet," he ordered.
I snorted and looked out the window
fighting back the urge to click my tongue
against the roof of my mouth.
I jerked forward and a large, strong hand
grabbed my shoulder to stop me from
hitting something. I opened my eyes sleepily
and found the car had stopped. Zane was
grinning slightly as he held me away from
the suddenly all too close dashboard and I
looked down to find my belt unbuckled.
"You got tangled up so I undid it," Zane
winced as he thought about it, "bad idea
really."
"No shit," I rubbed my forehead and
noticed we were at a large house.
Zane climbed out and I tiredly copied him,
noticing it was now two pm. He walked up
the stone steps to the huge oak doors and I
watched him.
"Come on Alexis," he said with an
exasperated sigh.
I wrinkled my nose in annoyance, how did I
know to follow him? He's so moody today.
"I'm coming," I said.
I walked up the stairs and looked around
the wooden porch feeling a chill vibrate
through my body. I shuddered and rubbed
my hands along my bare arms to warm them.
I stroked my foot along the back of my
sweat pants and sighed as I remembered
that I was still bare foot.
"Why am I here?" I felt suddenly uneasy.
"You're like a little lie detector aren't you?"
Zane shot me a smirk and I narrowed my
eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"You're a genie; a perk of being a genie is
that you can mostly tell when someone is
lying. We have a rat in our midst and we've
narrowed it down but now you're going to
tell me who it is."
I stared him down and ran my tongue along
my gums.
"Let's get this over with," I sighed.
Zane led me into an office and I saw three
guys stood up in a line looking confused. His
crew were littered around them on couches
and Zane went to sit behind the desk. I
raised an eyebrow at Zane and he gestured
for me to talk to the guys.
"It's definitely Brett, why do we need her
to ask?" one of the brown haired guys said
sounding weird.
"Shut up," Zane waved him off and the guy
clenched his jaw tightly.
I stood in front of the tallest guy and
surveyed him silently. He had shaggy brown
hair and hard blue eyes with a scar
stretching from his right ear lobe to under
his shirt.

"How long have you been in the pack sir?" I
asked.
"Twelve years," he said gruffly.
"Are you completely...uh...loyal to this pack?
Would you risk your life for this pack? Do
nothing to...destroy this pack?" I inquired
watching him intensely.
"I would NEVER do anything to compromise
this pack, I will be loyal until my last
breath," he said furiously.
I moved along to a buff guy looking to be
about nineteen or so with tattoos on his
arms. He watched me with curious green
eyes and his lips formed a grim smile.
"Same questions," I said simply.
"My whole life and I was brought up here
and my family lives here. Why would I try to
destroy it? To do so would be to hurt my
family and friends," he said.
I stared him down and clicked my tongue
against the roof of my mouth. I came to the
last guy and he watched me with amused
eyes.
"Same questions?" he offered.
"Yup," I looked him over.
He had spiked blonde hair and seemed to
be about twenty one, probably a
heartbreaker.
"My whole life and the same as Brett, to
harm this park would be to destroy my
family and friends. I belong here, there's
no way I'm going to take down my only
home," he said.
"One of you is lying about your intentions," I
said, my eyes darting about the room.
Zane leant forward and let his chin rest on
his hands as he watched the guys with
narrowed eyes.
"Who?" Zane prodded.
"Quick question," I said with a forced
smile, "who is the Beta?"
A buff guy with black hair raised his hand
and I tilted my head.
"Who are you then?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"I'm Jared," he looked amused unlike Zane
who just seemed angry.
"What has this got to do with anything?"
Zane questioned.
"Third in charge?" I ignored him and asked
my own question.
"That would be me, I'm Ryan," a blond
haired guy watched me with calculating
eyes.
"Who are the rest of you then?" I looked at
the other two, one I haven't seen often at
school watching me with a sly look.
"I'm Mark, Jared's cousin," a red head
introduced himself.
"Jake, just a friend," the sly one said with a
cunning look towards me.
"Well Jake, just a friend, how long have you
been with the pack?" I asked.
Jake looked taken aback by my question and
Zane opened his mouth to speak before
shutting it quickly as he caught on.
"Five months," Jake looked slightly uneasy.
"Would you want to destroy the pack?" I
raised an eyebrow.
"No," he answered.
"In answer to your question Zane, the rat is
not one of your suspects but in fact...one of
your closest friends," I said solemnly.
"Zane you're not going to listen to her are
you?" Jake appealed to his friend.
Zane stared at him in distrust and Jared
stood slowly.

"You were a rogue; you admitted you were
part of the rogue rebellion group. The
rogues have been suddenly escaping yet only
we five know where the caught ones were
being held. The rogue rebellion group know
so much about us...stuff only us five know..."
Jared seethed; he was literally shaking with
anger now.
"How did you know it was him?" Mark asked
me.
"The way he immediately tried to put all
blame on Brett and got angry when Zane
decided to keep the investigation going.
The weird looks he gave me while I was
speaking and the creepy sly look in his
eyes," I said simply.
I watched as Jared and Ryan hauled Jake
out looking furious, they were going to beat
him down weren't they? Mark followed
quickly and the three suspects trailed after
them, scar guy looking like he wanted a
piece of the punch up about to follow. The
office door closed and I looked at Zane
who seemed to be having a hard time
keeping control of his wolf.
"Zane?" I said cautiously.
"I am...so close...to shifting..." he ground out
and I tensed.
"Uh...calm down?"
Zane's head snapped up and he glared
irately at me with pure black eyes.
"Bad suggestion?" I winced.
Zane growled at me and I scratched the
back of my neck.
"I might just...you know...head out...?" I
backed up to the door and my hand
searched for the handle as I stared warily
at Zane.
In a second he was in front of me and his
hands slammed down on the door on either
side of my head.
"Zane...I...have to go home," he's going to
kill me.
His head dipped and he dragged his nose
along my neck slowly.
"Your skin is so soft," he said roughly.
"Uh...thanks?" wtf?
His fiery hot tongue pressed against the
base of my neck and I shuttered
subconsciously.
"Zane..."
"Show me your eyes Alexis," he interrupted
me.
"I...uh..." it was hard to concentrate when he
was lapping at my neck like a dog laps at
water.
He trailed his tongue up to my jaw and I
glared down at him.
"Dude, PACK IT THE Bleep IN," I shoved
him but it was like shoving a wall and it just
seemed to irritate him.
"Alexis," he pushed his nose up against mine
and my eyes widened.
"Zane are you on your period?" I asked
brusquely.
Zane stared at me with glowing yellow eyes
and I glared at him. Suddenly his eyes went
back to their normal colour and he looked at
me seemingly in a daze.
"What just happened?" he inquired.
"You just tried to jump me," I said angrily.
Zane snickered and pushed me out the way
so he could leave the office.
"No apology?" I yelled after him.
"You liked it," he responded cockily.
He's such an asshole.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

I rubbed my eyes and walked out the office
with a sigh. I found Zane in the hallway
talking to one of his crew.
"Are you going to take me home now?" I
asked.
Zane looked at me with a devilish smirk on
his handsome face.
"For a kiss," he flirted shamelessly.
"I'd rather walk," I muttered trying to walk
past him.
"On the cheek then?" he offered.
Zane pulled me against my will to him and
smirked down at me. I gritted my teeth but
pushed myself onto my tiptoes to place a
chaste kiss to his tanned, stubble covered
cheek.
"You can do better than that," he said.
"Don't. Push. It," I snarled angrily as I
stalked out the door.
I heard Zane laughing before he followed
me and started the car.
"To say thank you for what you did Alexis,
how about I treat you to...a McDonalds?" he
offered.
"Wow you're really pushing the boat out
aren't you?" I said jokingly.
"Would you rather I took you to a fancy
restaurant? I think they would laugh at us,"
Zane observed humorously.
I glanced over myself and grimaced at the
slob outfit I was wearing. Zane didn't look
much better in some old jeans and t-shirt
with some scuffed trainers. His hair was
messy and his eyes had bags underneath.
"Not sleeping well?" I inquired nosily.
"Not since this rogue business started," he
said with a sigh.
We pulled up outside McDonalds and went
into the driveway.
"What do you want?" he asked.
I felt amused by this entire situation
honestly.
"Uh...cheeseburger and chips please...and a
coke...and ketchup...and a smartie mcflurry,"
I beamed at Zane and he just chuckled.
We pulled up at the window and he placed
the order.
"Okay, next window," the girl said twirling
her hair flirtatiously.
I don't know why but that pissed me off.
Zane didn't seem to notice my anger or the
girl's flirting and drove forward to the
next window. As he took the food my eyes
fell on the receipt where the fast food girl
had written her number in a messy scrawl.
I have no idea why I did it; you can ask me
as many times as you want and I'll never be
able to answer. I picked up the receipt and
shoved it in my pocket. I looked up and saw
Zane watching me with an amused yet
confused expression. He put the drinks in
the cup holders and parked the car in a
free space.

"You just took the receipt," Zane pointed
out.
"I didn't," I said straight faced.
Zane grinned at me and held out his hand.
"You took the receipt, give it to me," he
demanded.
"Why does it matter?" I shrugged
carelessly.
"It didn't but you took it so now I want it,"
he said simply.
"Well I took it because it had a coupon on
the back but now you want it I don't want to
give it up," I lied.
Zane looked at me for a moment then lunged
across the car effectively splattering ice
cream all over us both. I shrieked and did
the second stupidest thing ever; I stuffed
the receipt in my mouth and swallowed it.
Zane stared at me in surprise and then
burst out laughing. He pulled back into his
seat and shook his head.
"You are certainly one of a kind Alexis," he
said in amusement.
He glanced at me and frowned before
leaning over and scooping ice cream off my
face with his thumb. He put his thumb in his
mouth and sucked the ice cream off. I
found the whole scene strangely erotic
however not to be out done I scooped ice
cream off his neck. I held up my finger and
licked up it from the base. When I got to
the top I swirled round it with my tongue
then slowly took the finger into my mouth.
"Okay you win, that was hotter than mine,"
Zane opened the bag and took out a burger,
"that actually turned me on."
I blinked rapidly at his news then laughed
and ate my McDonalds.

We pulled up outside my house and I saw my
front door was still wide open.
"If we've been robbed," I said warningly as
I climbed out the car.
Zane just chuckled but I noticed he didn't
drive away just yet. I got to the door and
inhaled deeply to make sure. I caught the
scent of something that made my spine go
rigid and my eyes shine purple. Gulping, I
clenched the doorframe tightly as I masked
my eyes and looked pleadingly at Zane who
immediately got out the car.
"What's up?" Zane asked walking up beside
me.
His nostrils flared and his eyes narrowed.
In a move so quick I barely registered it he
pushed me behind him protectively and
growled. Slowly he began to move into the
house making sure to keep a hand on my arm
and stay in front of me.
"Rogues," Zane growled furiously.
I practically glued myself to his back in
terror, I'm badass but rogues terrify the
shit out of me. Most rogues are evil soulless
creatures that lost their human side and
they won't hesitate to kill you.
We moved slowly down the hallway and into
the kitchen where we found the back door
open. Zane pushed me to crouch underneath
the marble island and put his finger to his
lips. Without a word he was gone.

I stayed crouched in the same spot for
bordering on an hour feeling my heart thud
painfully fast. A pair of black booted feet
walked into the kitchen and I bit my lip so
hard I drew blood. They paused in the
doorway before moving steadily closer to
the island I was beneath. I put my hand
over my mouth and nose so I wouldn't make
a sound then silently moved further away
from the feet.
I saw the jean clad legs begin to bend and
panic rose within me. I let fire rise on my
palm and readied myself to throw it. The
man bent fully and the flames in my hand
disappeared. Zane. I crumpled to the floor
in relief and exhaustion and Zane reached
under the island. His hands hooked under
my armpits and he dragged me to him
gently. As soon as I was close he
encompassed me in his arms making me feel
like a little child with the fact that I was
tiny compared to him. I nuzzled my face into
his neck feeling uncharacteristically scared
and revelled in his warmth.

"Alexis I have a theory," Zane said slowly.
I hummed against his warm, smooth neck in
reply and he shuddered.
"Hear me out before you freak though," he
demanded.
I nodded and grasped his shirt in my tiny
hands.
"I've been feeling...weird where you're
concerned..." he started sounding
embarrassed, "I never seem to stop
thinking about you...I always want to be
around you..."
I frowned into his chest and pulled away
slightly to stare up at him. He had his jaw
clenched and his eyes shut tightly. What
surprised me were the two spots of red on
his tanned cheeks, aww he's blushing.
"Alexis I want to look into your eyes, your
proper eyes...because Alexis...I think you're
my mate," he said quietly.
His head rolled downwards and his eyes
opened. On instinct I snapped my eyes shut
and tried to pull away from him.
"Alexis, stop it, just let me look in your
eyes," Zane demanded.
I struggled even harder and Zane growled.
"Is it really so horrifying to be my mate?"
he sounded hurt and I momentarily felt bad.
"My brothers..."
"Oh screw them, you hate them anyway so
who cares," Zane interrupted me crossly.
"You're not used to getting turned down by
a girl are you?" I stopped struggling to
smirk at him with my eyes still closed.
"Shut it Matthews," he grunted in reply.
I heard the front door slam open and I
tensed.
"Please Alexis," Zane whispered.
Sighing I opened my eyes and stared deep
into his. Minor detail...I changed my eye
colour again so he wasn't looking into mine.
I'm scared of commitment and love okay? I
can't take more heartbreak and I don't
trust people. He stared down into my yellow
eyes and sighed.
My brothers came towards the kitchen and
Zane stood quickly yanking me up with him.
He released his hold on my arms and picked
me up placing me on top of the marble island
then moved away from me. My brothers
entered and froze when they saw Zane.
"Why are you here?" Damian glared
furiously at Zane.
"Why so hostile Dame?" I quirked an
eyebrow and he glowered at me.
"Why is he here?" Damian asked.
"I went out to the shop to get some peanut
butter, I came back to see the front door
open and Zane pulled up in his car. He
wanted to ask you something about...people
on your territory? I don't know he wouldn't
tell me much, but when he saw the door
open he did a creepy ass inhaling thing then
pushed me behind him. The back door was
open too and he made me sit under the
island while he 'looked for bad guys'
apparently," I even used the bunny ears to
emphasise my confusion and sarcasm.
Damian looked at Zane who nodded and
mouthed the word 'rogues.' At that they
left the room and I jumped from the island
to head upstairs. I closed my bedroom door
and locked it before zapping into my lamp. I
sat down on the couch and put my head in
my hands. I couldn't help it, my chest
tightened and my heart beat painfully fast.
"Mamá, por qué?" I sobbed.

I curled up on the couch and cried my heart
out.
"Mamá," I whimpered.
I wiped my eyes and got up to go into the
kitchen. Once in there I broke down again
and slid to the floor. I was crying so hard I
wasn't even making noise anymore, I
couldn't take all the memories of the lamp
so I flashed out and crashed down on my
bed. I put the lamp under my pillow and
tried to stop the tears falling.

I woke up and groaned; my whole body felt
as if it had been run over by a truck.
Getting up I walked into the bathroom and
grimaced. My eyes were swollen and my
face was blotchy. I washed my face with
cold water but it did nothing to soothe my
face. I headed back into the bedroom and
checked the time. 10pm.
There was a gentle thud and I spun to see a
guy in my bedroom by my open window. I
yelped and threw a ball of wind at him. His
masculine yell seemed familiar and I
watched him fall backwards then rebound
off the wall.
"Alexis, seriously?" he snapped.
"Zane what the hell are you doing?" I asked
angrily.
Before I could blink he had me by my
shoulders and he threw me roughly onto the
bed.
"You lied to me again, please just let me see
your- have you been crying?"
I looked away in shame and Zane turned my
face back towards him.
"Your Mum?" he inquired.
I nodded and he sighed. Zane stroked my
hair soothingly and rubbed my arm with his
other hand.
"Alexis..." he began.
"I know," I muttered.
I let the purple shine through the blue and
looked up into his eyes.

CHAPTER TWELVE

Before our eyes could meet the door
slammed open and my head snapped over to
see Nathaniel stood there. He narrowed his
eyes at his brother for a moment before
smirking.
"I knew there was something between you
two," he said with an arrogant grin.
"There's nothing between us," I hissed out
as Zane replied, "there's everything
between us."
My eyes turned back to blue as I glared
defensively up at Zane who was smirking.
"Get off me and get out," I ordered angrily.
He pushed himself off me leisurely and
walked to the open window.
"Later Alexis," he said with glinting eyes
before leaping out the window.
I sat up and scowled then turned to
Nathaniel.
"Keep your brother away from me," I said
angrily.
"That's not possible Lex, when he sees
something he wants he won't stop until he
gets it...and he obviously wants you,"
Nathaniel said in amusement.
He winked then walked out and shut the
door after him. Growling under my breath I
stood up and pulled my top off. My bra was
black with purple lace around the top of the
cups and straps and it matched my knickers
perfectly. I was about to drop my trousers
when I heard someone clear their throat.
Clasping my top to my chest to shield me I
spun around to see Zane leaning on my
window frame with a dangerous look in his
eyes.
"Zane..." I started, my tone low and
venomous.
"Alexis, eyes NOW," he demanded.
I sighed in exasperation and reluctantly let
the purple shine through the blue again. As
I stared into his eyes, with no boundaries
or shields between us as his silver eyes
became apparent, I felt weird explosions
happening inside of me that made me want
to fall to the floor.
"Well...well...well," he drawled.
"Am I....?"
He smirked and strode over to me. Zane
smashed his lips against mine and I gasped
allowing his tongue to find its way into my
mouth. My hands found his hard, muscular
chest and I shoved him backwards
immediately.
"Stop it," I said though my voice came out
raspy.
Zane rolled his eyes at me and folded his
muscular arms across his chest.
"Why? You're my mate," Zane didn't look
amused now and I wondered if I'd hurt his
feelings.
"But...but...but I barely know you...me being
your mate doesn't give us the go ahead to
make out when we hardly know each other,"
I said angrily.
Zane's lips twitched but he kept his face
serious although I knew he was finding my
reaction highly amusing.
"Alexis," Darren yelled.
"Go," I urged.
Zane chuckled and leant in to kiss my cheek
roughly.
"Zane..." I hissed out.
