CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

Zane'S POV
I stretched and cracked open my eyes
drowsily. My mind was at ease for once and
I felt pretty relaxed. I could feel the
warmth radiating from Alexis's body as she
slept peacefully beside me. Alexis....I
smirked to myself. She tasted incredible,
and her moans were the sexiest things I'd
ever heard. I rolled slightly to face her,
and smoothed some of her wild brown curls
out her face. My little mate didn't even stir,
continuing to sleep soundly. Climbing out of
the king sized bed with a smile, I changed
into a pair of black formal trousers and a
white button up shirt. I raked a hand
through my messy blond hair, smoothing it
down a little. I glanced once more at Alexis,
smirking at her cute little face wrinkled up
as she slept soundly all tangled in my black
duvet. Walking out the bedroom, I gently
shut the door behind me and grinned to
myself. I'm not gonna lie, I felt like I was
on top of the world...I felt cocky as hell. It
was a male ego thing.
"Good morning Zane," Jack greeted me as
he left the bathroom.
"It is indeed," I replied arrogantly.
Jack raised a blond eyebrow but I didn't
explain, I just breezed past him to head to
my office. I'd been neglecting my work a lot
since Alexis entered my life so explosively,
so I desperately needed to catch up. I flung
open the heavy door and entered, pausing
when I saw Damian already inside. The
arrogant Alpha was reclined comfortable in
one the plush black chairs opposite my
desk.
"Who let you in?" I demanded icily.
I strode around him and sat down in the big
black chair behind my mahogany desk.
"Just had to mention that I was here for
Alexis and the wolves parted like the red
sea," Damian said with an arrogant smirk,
tapping his chin thoughtfully.
I glowered at him.
"Why are you here?" I asked darkly.
"I want to make a sort of peace pact with
you. For our packs to quit the enemy status,"
Damian said, turning serious.
I narrowed my eyes on him and leant back in
my chair.
"Why?" I demanded, "got a fight on the
horizon so you want a pact to save your
pathetic pack?"
Damian's jaw clenched and his eyes
darkened.
"No, you're mated to my sister and I'm
mated to your cousin, Zane. The
continuation of a feud, which we don't even
know the reasoning behind, is pointless.
Futile. This way I see Alexis, you see Ella,
and the packs stop randomly brawling. It's
ridiculous having two neighbouring packs at
each other's throats."
As much as I hated to admit it, he had a
point. It was indeed ridiculous. The casualty
toll was increasing as our packs began to
fight more and more...and for what reason?
"I guess I can see a point to that," I mused.
"I do talk sense...sometimes," Damian said
with a careless shrug.
I had to crack a smile at that, though I
quickly hid it by rearranging my papers.
"So what do we do? Seeing as you're the
wolf with the plan," I said slightly
mockingly.
"Pack meetings to declare a truce...then...a
gathering of sorts?" Damian offered.
I pondered the idea for a moment,
swivelling my chair slightly.
"So a party?" I asked cautiously.
"More like a barbecue," Damian corrected
me.

Ella-Marie POV
I gazed out the window at the large
expanse of carefully maintained grass, my
chin resting on my hands, as I mused over
things. I'd been yo-yoing between my small
flat and the Matthew's residence since
Alexis brought her brother into my life.
Currently I was in the Matthew's library
where I'd been since Damian had whisked
me here this morning before disappearing.
"Ella," a deep voice rang out.
I snapped out of my daydream and looked
up to see Damian stood on the other end of
the library. I couldn't help the blush that
rose to my cheeks at the intense look in his
sparkling green eyes. A look that always
seemed to feature in his eyes.
"You're back," I commented softly.
I began to push myself from the high
window seat and in a flash Damian had
moved over to me. His large tanned hands
grabbed my hips and he helped me lower
down to the floor. Even though I was
perfectly capable of getting down myself, I
mean I got up there didn't I, I still
welcomed his helpful touch.
"I can get down myself," I mumbled shyly.
Damian chuckled huskily, "I know, I just
wanted to touch you. I like touching you."
My cheeks lit up like a firecracker making
Damian smirk at me. He slid his hand into my
smaller one and led me across the library.
My heart was thudding so fast that he must
be able to hear it.
"So why am I here?" I inquired curiously.
"I wanted to do something with you. Watch
a film maybe..." Damian answered calmly.
"Uh o...o...okay," I said, getting a little
tongue tied.
Damian smirked down at me, knowing full
well what happened.
"Alright there Ells?" he questioned smugly.
"Fine," I mumbled, "I don't understand why
you seem to want me around."
"I like being in your company," Damian
replied as if it was obvious.
It's like around him my cheeks natural
colour is red. Why does he insist on saying
such sweet things that get me flustered? I
mean, guys have hit on me before but never
have they been so charming...and never
were they like Damian Matthews. He was
the most ludicrously attractive male I'd
ever seen, let alone met...and he damn well
knew it too. The arrogant self-assured wolf.
Damian was more than that though. He was
funny, sarcastic, dominant, possessive,
protective, and so adorably sweet to me.
It's honestly like I'm his......
...mate. Oh my God.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Alexis POV

I stretched in the large comfy bed and
thought back to last night. Regret? Not in
the slightest. I was actually pretty pleased
with how last night turned out. Mostly I was
impressed with how Zane expected nothing
in return and just seemed to want to give
me pleasure.
"Morning sleepy head," Jerome sang out.
I looked up to see the younger boy
collected a file from Zane's desk, obviously
having been sent to retrieve it.
I'd run into Jerome while twirling along a
corridor...long story.
"Morning," I said with a yawn.
"Zane said to give you this."
Jerome handed me a neatly folded piece of
paper before scurrying out the room. I
unfolded the paper curiously.
'I enjoyed last night. How about a repeat
tonight? Zane xx'
I smirked and dropped the paper on the
bedside cabinet. Rolling out of the bed, I
landed clumsily on my feet and staggered
across the bedroom to the en suite
bathroom. I really needed a shower. I shed
my pyjamas and stepped into the shower
before turning it on. I'm just badass like
that.
"Alexis!" an annoyingly nasal voice yelled.
I groaned, what the hell did whoever it was
want? I didn't grace the person with an
answer, preferring to rub shampoo into my
long hair.
"Alexis!"
I took my time washing out the shampoo,
then stepped out the shower and wrapped a
towel around my spender body. I switched
the shower off and wound my hair into
another towel. Unlocking the bathroom
door, I peered into the bedroom to find a
female stood there. I stepped into the room
and her irritated brown eyes landed on me
then widened. I was amused by the way she
blatantly checked me out and her mouth
opened.
"I was showering," I stated.
"You're beautiful," she said in shock.
"Well thank you, you're beautiful too," I
replied in bemusement.
I wasn't lying. Dark blonde hair cascaded to
her shoulders and framed a sophisticated
milky white face. Dark chocolate brown
eyes gazed at me as she stood with one
slender hand on her cocked hip,
highlighting her curvy slim body. A light
brown and pale pink expensive looking dress
clung to her figure and gorgeous heels
propped her tall frame up higher. I couldn't
help but admire the expensive charms that
adorned her wrists.
"...but...you're...you're not supposed to be
this beautiful," she stuttered looking a little
panicked all of a sudden.
I fought the peal of laughter threatening to
escape my lips as I stared at her with my
eyebrows raised.
"So, who are you?" I inquired.
"Chastity Hick HYPHON Charles," she told
me.
I blinked, and refrained from snorting. I let
my hair loose so I could brush it.
"My Father runs an esteemed oil company.
My parents and Zane's parents are hoping
for a marriage between myself and Zane,"
Chastity informed me.
I mulled that over and realised something
worrying. I wanted Zane...not just sexually...
"Well I guess I'm the metaphorical spanner
in the works aren't I, Chastity Hick
HYPHON Charles," I said with a calm voice.
Chastity flipped her blonde hair and shot
me a snobby look.
"We'll see who gets him," she said snobbily.
"I'm his mate-"

"I was here first-"
"This isn't a first come forever married
scenario," I said with an amused smile.
"Look, Zane needs a sophisticated,
intelligent and attractive female. You only fit
one category sweetheart, I fit them all,"
she said snottily.
I arched a perfect brown eyebrow at her
and placed my brush on the side before I
threw it at her, just as Zane walked in.
"Alexis-"
Zane trailed off as he saw Chastity and she
bridled quite obviously. Slowly his eyes
moved to me and...well I win. Desire flashed
through his eyes and his lips curved up into
a dirty smirk.
"Chastity, your Father is in the kitchen-"
"I thought we could talk about-"
"No. Not right now."
Zane's eyes roamed my body and I teasingly
slid the corner of the towel away. Nothing
was bared but the promise of what was
underneath evidently got to Zane. He ran
his tongue along his full bottom lip and bit it
lustfully.
"Chastity out," Zane ordered without
removing his eyes from me.
Chastity huffed and stormed out, slamming
the door behind her.
"It would appear you was trying to seduce
me there," Zane said in bemusement, leaning
on the closed door and crossing his arms.
I shrugged non-commitedly and dragged my
hair into a bun.
"Was you trying to assert a sort of
dominance in front of Chastity?"
He knew the answer, he was just mocking
me now. I scowled.
"I'll take that as a yes. We're going to have
lunch with the Hicks today, dress nicely...or
to impress if you want to try assert
dominance over Chastity again," he said, he
was loving this.
"Hick HYPHON Charles," I corrected him
snootily.
Zane laughed and left the bedroom.

I dressed in a pretty light yellow sundress
that came to my knees and had lace from
the top of my breasts to my neck. Slipping
my feet into brown wedges, I spritzed
myself with some perfume and headed off
to find Zane. It didn't take me long to
locate him, and low and behold Chastity was
with him. Zach and Adam, members of
Zane's
crew, seemed annoyed at Chastity's obvious
intrusion.
"-the oil company is now worth billions,"
Chastity bragged.
I pretended to gag as I walked up which
didn't go unnoticed by Zach, earning me a
grin. Legitimately aiming to frustrate
Chastity, I dropped myself down onto
Zane's lap. Chastity's eyes darted to my
mate's face in hope of a negative reaction,
but luckily he just wrapped his arms around
my waist and pulled me further into him.
"We're heading out in an hour, babe," Zane
told me.
I realised it then. Zane was going to use
this time to be as couple-y as he could
manage because he knew I wouldn't
complain due to my incessant obsession with
rubbing Chastity's face in it. Well two can
play at that game.
"Alright sweetie," I said, kissing the tip of
his nose.
Zane rolled his eyes but smirked all the
same.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

ALEXIS POV

"I'll come in your car," rich bitch decided,
laying a possessive hand on Zane's arm.
"But, how will you get home later? With no
car of your own?" I said innocently.
"I'm staying here tonight actually," she
informed me smugly.
"Oh, have you been assigned a guest room?"
I asked, trying not to scowl.
"No, but I'm happy to pick my own. I saw an
empty one next to Zane's," Chastity said.
"Oh nonsense. I'll make sure that someone
sets up a room for you, make sure it's
perfect. I know a very luxurious room with
an en suite on the floor below," I said, my
eyes glinting.
Before Chastity could say anything, Ellie
appeared and came to the rescue.
"I'll set it up for her while I'm here," Ellie
chimed in.
Ellie winked at me before walking off
towards Zane's office with Zane in tow. I
smirked.
Alexis 1:0 Chastity

Sadly, Chastity did indeed travel in our car.
Thankfully, Zane exiled her to the back
seat and I rode up front in the passenger
seat. The whole ride, Chastity was talking
business to Zane...I literally understood
none of the conversation so I was forced to
just stare out the window silently.
Alexis 1:1 Chastity

The car pulled to a stop and Zane came
around to my side of the car to help me out.
His left hand took my purse and his right
hand laid gently on my lower back to guide
me to the restaurant. I heard Chastity huff
as she slammed the car door and walked
after us. The restaurant looked incredibly
expensive and posh, I felt a little out of
place. We climbed the steps and Zane
pushed open the glass door to allow our
group to enter. I walked in first then
hovered near the door to wait for my mate,
mainly so Chastity couldn't get to him.
Zane's Beta, Jake, followed Chastity in and
stood in the way of her route to Zane. Jake
threw me a wink and I fought to hide a grin.
Zane placed a hand on my lower back and
guided me towards the front desk. I only
half listened as he sorted out the
reservations, and then he was guiding me
again. I couldn't help but look over Zane
admiringly. His normally messy blond hair
was neatly combed back and his suit made
him look unbearably handsome. I could smell
hints of a new cologne on him and boy, it
smelled very alluring.
"What's that cologne?" I asked quietly.
"My cologne? Why, do you like it?" he
retorted in confusion.
"Yeah, it's...it's really nice to be entirely
honest," I admitted.
Zane smirked proudly and seemed to stand
straighter as he walked. My eyes widened.
His wolf was literally proud that I had
complimented him and that I liked his
cologne. Wow. The waiter led us to a large
table at the back and we were all seated. To
my chagrin, Chastity was on the left of Zane
but at least I had his right. Everything
about the dinner was great...except my mate
constantly talking bizarre business to the
man-stealer. I spoke to Jake mostly, but he
could evidently see my rising unease and
irritation. I practically stabbed my lamb
when it arrived, highly worked up. The only
reason I didn't attack Chastity? The lamb
calmed me down. Damn, it was like heaven.
It seemed to just fall apart in my mouth and
it was absolutely delicious. I very nearly
moaned. After dinner, I excused myself to
the ladies and gazed at myself in the mirror
after I was finished with my business.
"You're hot, Alexis. Hotter than the she-
bitch. You can take her. Show her who's
boss," I gave myself a little prep talk.
It didn't help. Chastity and Zane continued
their confusing talk and I remained left out.
Pudding arrived and I wordlessly began to
dig into the vanilla cheesecake.

"God, this is beautiful," Chastity
complimented the chocolate cake she'd
gotten simply because Zane had ordered it.
I saw my chance to even the playing fields.
Zane's attention was as good as mine.
"It can't be as good as the cheesecake.
Here," I scooped some onto the fork and
held it up for Zane, "try some, honey."
His eyes glinted knowingly and he bent his
head to wrap his lips around my fork.
Everything about the way he took the
cheesecake and ate it seemed seductive,
and damn I was mesmerised. I'm beginning
to think I might have feelings for the
arrogant son of a wolf.
"Mm, that's absolutely delicious," he
acknowledged, "try some of mine."
Copying Zane's movements, I closed my lips
around his offered fork and slid them back
to take the chocolate cake piece. I ate it
slowly then licked over my lips to remove
the chocolate. Zane looked entranced.
"You have a little bit..."
He reached up and brushed his thumb over
my bottom lip. When he removed his thumb
and sucked the smudge of chocolate off, I
nearly lost it. Our eyes stayed locked
together, heat flaring. Chastity cleared her
throat loudly but Zane didn't look away.
Instead, he leant forward and pecked me on
the lips.
I welcomed the short kiss then smiled
angelically at Chastity.
"I'm sorry, you two were talking," I said
innocently.
"We was-"
"It doesn't matter. It's not dinner talk
anyway. I never asked, how was your lamb?"
Zane asked me.
"It was amazing. This place is fantastic," I
said.
"My parents come here a lot. I'll have to
bring you more often...maybe just us two
next time," he offered huskily.
"I'd like that," I replied, and the answer
wasn't for Chastity's benefit that time.
Man, I like him...I'm so screwed.

I yawned as we exited the restaurant and
Zane wrapped his arm tighter around my
slender waist. Chastity looked extremely put
out, seeing as Zane spent the remainder of
the evening attending to me rather than
her. We were part of the way to the car
when Zane stopped.
"Chastity, you can ride with Jake," Zane
informed her.
"Hold on-"
"I need to take my mate somewhere alone."
I smiled smugly at Chastity who looked
suitable angered. Zane led me to the car and
helped me in then got in his side. As he
started the car, I glanced to Chastity to see
her glaring at a bemused Jake as he didn't
open the passenger door for her like a
gentleman would have. Zane drove us in the
opposite direction of home but I didn't ask,
leaving him to it. When he pulled up, we
were near a railing that appeared to
overlook the cliff.
"Was all of that for Chastity's benefit?" he
immediately asked.
"Huh?"
"Alexis," Zane said sternly, and I noticed a
flash in his eyes.
His wolf was near the surface, eager for
the response.
"Truthfully? It started out that way...but by
the end it wasn't an act. Somehow, I've
developed feelings for you Zane. I don't
know when or how, but I did," I confessed.

"Now we're at the same stage then," he
said with a crooked smile.
"You have feelings for me?" I asked in
shock.
"I don't hide them, Alexis," he said simply.
I let Zane wrap an arm around me and hug
me sideways. I relaxed. My head lay
partially on his chest and my eyes slowly
closed.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

I blew my nose and scowled, damn you
hay fever. Sighing, I stretched my legs out
in the grass and tilted my head towards the
sun. My eyes closed and I let the warmth of
the sun heat me up. I had no idea where my
unruly mate was, but I wasn't worried
seeing as bitchzilla was gone. She'd packed
up and booked it out of here early in the
morning. Guess she realized that she wasn't
going to get between me and Zane.
"You seem nicely relaxed," Lea commented.
I moved around to face the pretty girl and
grinned.
"Long time no see, baby doll," I said
sarcastically.
Lea chuckled and dropped down beside me
on the grass. She rolled onto her front and
carefully plucked a daisy.
"How's mated life?" I asked.
Lea shot me an unamused look and rolled
onto her back. She began to thread daisies
together to make a pretty chain which made
me roll my eyes.
"He wants us to move in together," she told
me.
I whistled under my breath and joined her
in laying down on the warm grass. I
immediately regretted the decision as I
began to sneeze uncontrollably. My eyes
were watering when I finished and I
groaned. Lea just laughed.
"So...are you moving in with him?" I inquired.
"Man, I don't know," Lea grumbled,
"I..uh...I'm not sure."
"Come on Lea, don't you want to live with
him?" I said with a chuckle.
"Well..." she pulled a face and ny eyes
widened.
"Lea!" I exclaimed.
Lea rolled onto her side so she was facing
me and gave me a serious look.
"It's moving pretty fast Alexis," she
murmured.
"Dude, I'm already living with Zane," I said
in disbelief.
Lea had to laugh at that, and scratched the
back of her neck.
"Good point."
I smirked and closed my eyes again.

I washed my hands in the sink, and couldn't
help but glance up into the mirror. My
brown curls were messily tied up with red
ribbon as a headband, and my eyes were
shining purple.
"Hey, babe," Zane greeted me.
I looked up at him and moved to dry my
hands. My mate was leaning on the
door frame wearing an outfit that I'd never
seen on him before. It made him look
downright hot though. Black army trousers
tucked into black combat boots, along with a
black vest covered by a bullet proof vest.
"What..."
Zane chuckled and brushed his blond hair
back out his eyes.
"Hunters spotted in the area, so I'm leading
a hunt through the forests," he informed
me.
"You look..." I trailed off but Zane caught
the message.
"Hot? You want me to wear this in bed?" a
dirty smirk tugged at his lips and his eyes
twinkled mischievously.
With a flick of his heel, Zane had slammed
the bathroom door closed and I backed up
a step. Zane stepped towards me and
backed me up against the wall of the
bathroom.
"You can be the naughty rogue," he
promised me in a low voice, "that the Alpha
has caught on his land. Now you need to be
a good girl and beg for me to have mercy."
I couldn't help it, the mating bond
attraction was too strong.

anything you want," I said in a seductive but
innocent voice.
Zane's eyes glinted in desire and he placed
one hand beside my head on the cold tiled
wall.
"Anything, little rogue?" he asked.
"Anything," I purred.
"Well maybe, I need you to...be my little
slave," Zane said in a rough voice.
"Yes master," I replied obediently.
Zane slammed his lips down on mine and his
hands grabbed my thighs. He yanked me up
into his arms and my legs immediately
wrapped around his hard body.
"You'll be the death of me, Alexis," he
warned.
"You started it," I commented.
Our tongues battled for control and one of
Zane's hands reached up to grip my hair. I
moaned and took more control of kiss,
making it fiercer and more passionate.
"I really need to go," Zane said reluctantly.
We detangled out bodies and I straightened
out my dishevelled clothes. Zane kissed my
forehead gently then disappeared out the
bathroom. Holy crap. That escalated quickly.

Ella POV
I swung round in Damian's office chair,
kind of bored. What to do with my life right
now? The office door opened and I
watched as Lea dramatically flounced inside.
"Still can't decide on moving in with
Darren?" I asked.
"No," she groaned.
Lea dropped and I leant over the desk to
find her laid awkwardly on the floor.
"Lea?"
She grunted in response and kept her eyes
closed. I giggled.
"Lea pretending to be dead won't solve
anything," I pointed out.
"Darren can't ask me to move in with him if
I'm dead," she retorted.
"You practically live here anyway? What
would change?" I questioned in disbelief.
Lea sighed and rubbed her eyes tiredly
before sitting up.
"I don't know, it's just such a huge step,"
Lea murmured.
"Extra time for...uh...sexual intercourse?" I
offered as a solution to moving in with him.
Lea's eyebrows furrowed as she thought it
over then suddenly her eyes went wide and
she shot up. She pointed at me, her facial
expression turning weird.
"Good point," she said.
That said, Lea was gone. I laughed and went
back to spinning in the chair.
"Did I just see Lea running away from here
like she commited a crime?" Damian asked.
I spun the chair round so that I could see
him over the mahogany desk.
"I think she's off to tell Darren that she'll
move in here with him," I explained with a
shrug.
"I thought she said it was too fast?" Damian
asked as he slowly walked over to the chair.
He lifted me up and settled me in his lap.
"I mentioned extra time for coitus."
Damian threw his head back and laughed.
"Nicely done, they're like the energiser
bunnies!" he exclaimed.

I giggled and looked up at Damian, our eyes
meeting. Slowly, he leant in and our lips met.
The kiss was sweet and when I pulled back,
I let our foreheads rest against each
others.
"You're so beautiful," Damian whispered.
"You're so handsome," I replied.
"I couldn't ask for a better mate," Damian
added.
"I could...one that puts the toilet seat down!"
I said teasingly, flicking his nose.
"Hey!" Damian laughed and began to tickle
my sides.
I squealed.

Lea POV

I slammed through the door into the games
room and found Darren playing one his many
car video games.
"Darren!" I greeted him.
Immediately, Darren discarded his
controller and turned his attention to me.
"You decided?" he inquired.
"We'd have more time for sex!" I stated.
"I know! Why did you think I asked you to
move in?" Darren retorted, his eyes wide.
"Because you love me?"
"That too!" Darren waved me off then
opened his arms.
I grinned and bounced over then jumped
into his arms.
"So are we doing this?" he asked.
"Totally!" I agreed, "I'll get the rest of my
stuff tomorrow. I practically live here
anyway!"
Darren cheered loudly then smashed his
lips down on mine. Like usual, the kissing
escalated and I felt Darren spin our bodies
round so I was pressed into the blue
beanbag. Our tongues wound round each
other and his large hands slowly slid
beneath my top. My smaller hands grapped
his wide hips then moed to unzip his pants.
"Energiser bunnies! Not in the game room!"
