It is impossible to target an aircraft at 10,000m altitude without a TAR. A TAR sends out a wave of electrostatic radio signal which is immediately received by any counter radar focused in it's region. The only other way to target an aircraft with a BUK platform would be to have a homing signal within the craft.
To go through all the work to pull of the caper without prefabricated evidence (such as what the SBU has presented so far) would be self defeatist.

The missile system firing could be picked up with satellite or aerial surveillance though. There were clouds and moderate rain in the region at the time so line of sight fire was impossible.

This was done by the Ukrainians and not the rebels or Russians.

Why did Ukranian authorities divert a civilian plane over restricted airspace in a warzone - that was intentionally making that plane a target. False flag either way, eastern rebels still get blamed, NATO and it's shillbag still push their same lie. It ultimately makes no difference.

Why would the Ukrainian Civil Navigation authority clear a civilian aircraft path to a war zone in the east bordering Russia where the Russians have already shut down their border airspace with Ukraine in response to deployment of BUK missile launch pads by the Ukrainian government forces?

The Pic below are the flight paths for Malaysian Flight MH17.

As can be seen the flight had for the past 3 days leading to yesterday had been continually diverted off it's normal flight path.

Japanese and Korean airlines, which all had European routes that flies over Ukraine, had rerouted away from Ukraine once the conflicts with the rebels escalated.

Malaysia Airlines didn't because doing so would increase the flight time and fuel burned.

The flight had been targeted for elimination
