When President Obama precipitously pulled all US troops out of Iraq, it left a power vacuum that has since been filled by radical Islamic jihadists.

They have taken control of a large swath of territory in both Iraq and Syria, declaring it a Caliphate, or Islamic State. Within this radical Islamic State, or Jihadistan, the radicals have instituted Sharia law, and are persecuting all non-radicalized Muslims, Christians, and Jews.
They are using this newly created stronghold to expand and push their brand of a global Islamic tyranny. Many of the radicals in this group, calling themselves ISIS, gained experience fighting as rebels against Assad’s regime in Syria. Yes, they are the same Syrian rebels that Obama has been arming and training. Virtually all of the major Syrian rebel groups have now declared allegiance to ISIS

But not everyone is just sitting back and watching as ISIS sweeps through Syria and Iraq. The Kurds in northern Iraq have fought back and stemmed their advance north. Iran is backing up the Shia Iraqis to the south, stopping ISIS just short of Baghdad. Now we learn from our friends at Mad World News that a Christian militia has risen up in opposition to the persecution and atrocities being committed by the ISIS fighters. The Christian minority in Iraq assembled 600 followers to take up arms against ISIS Jihadists, who have been terrorizing the Christian settlement of Bartella. The small army is led by Capt. Firaz Jacob, a Christian who refuses to idle any longer while their women and children are raped by Islamist militants.

“I stand here waiting for my destiny… We will stay here despite everything… All these armed groups we have seen, but nevertheless we will remain. We love our Christian way of life, we love our churches and we love our community.” Capt. Jacob, when asked what they will do if the militants attack again, told CBS News, “I don’t know, but maybe they’ll do what they’ve done
in other places and kill us.” The Iraqi army was supposed to have defended these Christians, but they threw down their weapons and fled in the face of ISIS advances, leaving the minority population to defend themselves. Unfortunately, Iraq is not the only place where Christians are being persecuted.
There are a number of other countries across the Muslim world that are doing the same, with much less fanfare or notice. Except that Senator Rand Paul has noticed, and is calling for an end to all foreign aid to countries where Christians and women are being persecuted.

The Christians in Iraq can blame Obama for the situation they now find themselves in. Obama’s meddling foreign policy led him to pull out of Iraq while simultaneously arming and supporting the rebels in Syria, which helped to create this new “global jihad stronghold” that Obama still wants to pour weapons and supplies into. We support the Christian Iraqis that are standing up for their inherent human right of self defense, and encourage them in their stand against the radical Islamic jihadists that are seeking to subjugate them under Islamic tyranny.
