It's not really true, they might call the pet name when they are still learning how to talk but picks daddy before they are 2yrs.

Everyone should call their spouses whatever they are comfy with. We've never been comfy with pet names. It just didn't come naturally to us.

I still call hubby what I used to call him years ago when we were just friends. Ranging from his first name to O'boy, guy etal . He in turn calls me by my name. I hope the kids (when we do have them) don't take after us.
