EFF threatens to ‘remove’ Israeli ambassador

If the Israeli ambassador to SA does not leave the country, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will remove him.

EFF Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema said this while speaking to thousands gathered in front of the Israeli embassy in Pretoria on Friday.

“Today we are firing wearing shots. If he (Arthur Lenk) does not leave we will come here in our numbers to remove him physically,” said Malema.

Friday marked the 18th day of the deadliest violence in the area in five years.

French news agency AFP reported that more than 650 Palestinians and 31 Israelis had been killed so far.

Earlier this week President Jacob Zuma announced that he will be sending a special team to Isreal and Palestine to relay the country’s concerns over the increasing violence in the conflict but Malema said that was not enough. He accused the ANC of not being hard enough on Isreal. He said they condemn Israel’s action but at night have dinner with the ambassador.

Malema also said the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) members should suspend business relations with Israel.

“We are not fighting Jews, we are fighting Zionism” said Malema.
