This actually is my first piece. So plz be mild with your criticism cheesy, i'm not exactly a poet/writer.. This was just inspired.

Constructive criticism is welcomed, especially from seasoned pros.

*****************************
North of the Equator, A nation is dying.
Her people are crying.

Who will save us from this dilemma?
I weep for the country that is Nigeria.

Young men, women and children full of life
Have all become victims of the bomb man's strife.

Yonder that hill, a mother unconsolably weeps for her dead son.
The shine long gone from her sun.

Down this valley, a clan is gone
Callously wiped out in a split second.

Yonder there lies in ruins and desolation
Devoid of even the bleat of goats and sheep; nothing to offer a consolation.

Over here, a cluster of families mourn unitedly in honest grief
for their little girls abducted in school.

The land lies in filth. And reeks of innocent blood.
Where's the love?

How did a nation become a dilemma?
I weep for the country that is Nigeria.

There's blood in the land, Blood everywhere
From Chibok to Nyanya the blood flows, it flows into our unblinking eyes.
The mind asks many questions, beginning with the ''whys''.

The leaders continue to get drunk,
seemingly oblivious of d chaos.
A nation has become a victim of her choice.

Doubts linger, people have lost faith.
Having being dealt cruel blows by fate.

Many questions, who'll pay them attention?

Where's the bulwark against extremism?
How did we become a people plagued by terrorism?

Nigeria, how did we get here?
To this point of burgeoning tears and fear?

To this point of senseless killings and brutal murder.
To this point of witnessing the unsavoury separation of child from mother.

To this point where sitting in the church pews is a frightening moment
Knowing the bomb man is lurking, preparing to inflict torment.

Really, who will save us from this dilemma?
Say a prayer for the country that is Nigeria.

Up North and Down South
On the hills of the West, and valleys of the East
Remember always, to say a prayer for Nigeria.
God bless sons and daughters of the country that is Nigeria.
