Osun 2014: Students Deny Endorsing Aregbesola by myspnigeria: 1:29am On Aug 02, 2014
The Coalition of Osun State Students’ Movement has denounced the endorsement of Governor Rauf Aregbesola for a second term by the National Association of Osun State Students and the Joint Campus Committee, saying they did not reflect the views of the students in the state. Leaders of the group, who addressed a press conference in Osogbo, said it was unfortunate that the NAOSS and the JCC, that had earlier organised solidarity protest in support of the striking lecturers of Osun State-owned tertiary institutions, would endorse the governor while the workers were still on strike. Speaking on behalf of the group at a news conference tagged, ‘No to unholy second term endorsement of Aregbesola,’ the President, Osun State Students’ Union, Mr. Omisakin Waheed, told journalists that the governor had destroyed the state’s education sector and should not be seen as enjoying the support of students in the state. He said, “We of the coalition of Osun State Students’ bodies condemn in strong terms the ‘sponsored’ solidarity rally carried out by the Joint Campus Committee, Osun State, few weeks ago in support of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s re-election bid and also the press statement issued by the leadership of the National Association of Osun State Students’ national secretariat to endorse the governor for a second term.” Also in a statement jointly signed by the Students’ Union President of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Bashir Saheed; Students’ Union President, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Adetunji Peter; Students’ Union President, Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun, Abiodun Saheed; and Coordinator, Coalition of Osun State Students’ Movement, Momodu Munir, the group said there was no justification for any group of students to support the governor’s second term bid.

Who are Osun state students association please?, people we dont know they exist, people that cant fight for us on school management oppressions and troubles. Aregbesola is constructing a new road from Ibokun road to our school gate. We are going to Abandon the former jagajaga road next session. Aregbesola, LEEKAN SI. one good term deserves another. Wa gbayi padi ti o common. You are from the street, majority on the street, we on the strret is at your back. Please I cant afford #200,000 school fee. Do it again, lets uniosun students continue paying 50% of the fees fixed by PDP who said uniosun is not for the poor so we should be paying #200,000 in government school. Aregbesola, we are behind you.
