NIGERIAN SOLDIERS WHO LAUNCH COUP WILL DIE HORRIBLY!!!
(Remain Professional Soldiers OR Resign to Become Politicians)
--Attorney Patryk Utulu

Unpatriotic political losers have a habit of inviting military coups against those who bested them in our imperfect democratic system. But let there be no doubt: Any Nigerian soldier of any rank of any command who launches a coup will die horribly. That is a promise. Enough of this coup nonsense. The worst human right abuses happen under military regimes. HERE'S A COUP SCENARIO: They roll tanks onto our streets cheered by desperate masses. First, they suspend the constitution and make speeches. Then they issue new decrees for every issue that opportunistic politicians whisper into their ears. Daily they conduct photo sessions and from the back of armored vehicles they smile and wave at crowds like conquering heroes.

Three months later they discover a cold reality: nations cannot be governed like military barracks. They discover that civilians can't easily follow oral commands and that citizens argue and question instructions...and like a past-her-prime 40-year old prostitute who suddenly realized that her customers are getting drunker and older the military turns nasty. The finger pointing starts. Detention centers multiply. Jail populations swell. Enemy lists materialize. Treason allegations start flying around. Show trials begin. Those desperate masses and citizens who invited them get even more disillusioned because now, unlike under imperfect democracy, the masses dare not speak, dare not criticize, and definitely dare not take to the streets.

Politics involves winning and losing. Winners ought to be gracious but in Nigeria tend to celebrate too much. Others must learn to accept defeat gracefully like Ekiti State Governor Fayemi Kayode, who recently saved Nigeria violence. Instigating violence against winners makes you a bigger loser. A losing party should organize better and build larger coalitions to win. Trying to hijack a national tragedy involving kidnapped children for a larger political agenda of forcing an elected president out of office before the end of his term was wrong. Insisting that you cannot help to find solutions to rising nationwide insecurity unless a validly elected president disqualify himself from running for re-election is wrong. Neutrality is not passivity. Neutrality is freedom to call a spade a spade especially when the very existence of our nation is imperiled.

WARNING: Nigerian Military MUST remain a professional military. Officers who need something to do should go to Sambisa Forest and help rescue Chibok girls before Boko Haram completely train them into suicide bombers. Any soldier who wants to get into politics must resign their command immediately. A coup is an abomination against citizens' ongoing experiment at democratic self governance. Any soldier who attempts to remove a Nigerian President by force will die and die horribly.

That is a promise!!!
