Ikengawo: The ignorance of this man is so steep that it's hard to gauge. 1. Is your population the reason why your leaders for decades with hundreds of billions of dollars and since independence failed to provide electricity and common basic necessities? 2. Is your population the reason why you have decayed, rotten and worthless infrastructure? 3. Is your population the reason why your corrupt and incompetent leaders spends %80 of the country's wealth on themselves with nothing left for capital projects? 4. Is population the reason why your president commands 10 jets and still trying to buy one more to make it eleven? 5. Is population the reason why your leaders prefer for you to have power generators and fuel burden instead of stable electricity even though they've swindled tens of billions worth of lies and promises to give your stable power? 6. Is population the reason why your leaders killed your refineries and prefer for your oil to be sent abroad to be refined and return back to you at many times the cost? Population and lousy leadership have nothing in common, population doesn't prevent you from doing the right thing... You are the slowpoke here.. 14 Likes |

Of what benefit is the so called "inspiring speech" to the residents of Ejigbo who have gotten neither "stomach infrastructure" nor BASIC developmental infrastructure from Tinubu's party in the last 14 years? https://www.nairaland.com/1852378/sorry-state-roads-ejigbo-community 8 Likes |

Where I have issue with this speech is Fashola should have be man enough to tell his Arab friend that he , Fashola has been governor of Lagos for about 8 years and he has borrowed nearly 1 trillion naira and has collected more than 2 trillion naira in revenue and that his budget performance has been well over 100%. He should have used his effort in Lagos as governor as a yardstick to proof that the Lagos he governs is now the Dubai of Nigeria. 6 Likes |

Jealousy no good o. Why must fashola be this bitter. I read somewhere in the article that the only 2 states providing alternative transport system (rail transport) were APC states, like the PH rail project started last year when Amaechi jumped ship. Contrary to what he says, to me, both parties are same. Only the individuals are different. 3 Likes |

Fashola, do not worry the EFCC will be visiting Lagos sometime from September to review how you have been looting tax payers and local government funds. Let them finish with Lamido first, their next investigation is in Lagos. It is called VALUE FOR MONEY (INVESTIGATION) AUDIT. Do not forget that Ribadu is now to mentor EFCC the OBJ-style. Shey you want to be VP that is why you now rant? Goodluck to you and Tinubu! 2 Likes |

Great speech by Mr Fashola. The problem with our politicians is not lack of knowledge; it is the purposeful and malicious de-democratization of the polity by bringing in ethnic, regional and religious sentiments in order to sway the voters. Personally, I would have preferred this speech without reference to apc or pdp. Merely bringing the comparison on board belittles the message; turns it from one people should reflect on to one people would begin to take sides on. There is grace in subtlety. He didn't have to be explicit. Atimes you communicate the message and allow the listener/reader to reflect. You achieve more with this than explicitly stating "facts". Great speech though. God bless Nigeria. 1 Like |

gymer: Fashola is also a failure in Lagos state na. No portable water, bad roads all over the places, poor drainage system, armed robbers and touts on the increase, etc. why can't he faces the business of governing Lagos instead of always looking for platform to attack the FG? Despite the huge burden of multiple taxes we are facing in Lagos, we don't feel any government presence, yet the man in the helm of affair is running his mouth everywhere. Attacking the FG is not what I voted him for. Errr Sir, I disagree with you and know you have the right to your own opinion.....right or wrong. Just a few points; 1. You did not know Lagos Pre1999 2. Are you sure you reside in Lagos or neighbouring states? tell me your area and I will list out the lasg projects there Security is the work of FG not the state but despite the inability of the FGN to provide security LASg has taken bold steps with the Security trust fund. Google is your bro 3.He is simply stating the facts and which one of these do you disagree with. |

boladez: Thank you for your civil response. I I know Lagos pre 1999. I voted Fashola in 2007. Due to his performance in 2007, myself and family voted him in 2011. But since he started his second term, he has not live up to my expectations. I live in the mainland. Kosofe LGA. I am telling you that a city like Lagos should not have problem with the provision of portable water in any of its part. But in today's Lagos, that is a big task. There are no good roads in Lagos. Don't forget that Lagos is not just Island, VI, Ikoyi and Lekki. Even the so called VI and Ikoyi, they don't have good drainage system. When it rains, the whole place will turn to a lagoon. Am saying we have a lot to be done in Lagos. I do not belong to any political party though I voted for AD and ACN in the previous election. I want Fashola whom I voted for in the last election to tackle the problem of infrastructural deficit in Lagos instead of dinning with ex PDP thieves. 2 Likes |

gymer: I agree with you that in terms of roads in Kosofe, yes LASG should do more but within Kosofe let me draw your attention to the following roads that the Fashola administration has fixed and repaired....I confirm I use these roads. .Remember how that Agiliti (Opposite Mile 12 market) used to be . A huge refuse dump inhabited by criminals ...see what it is today .remember how it took almost an hour to pass through the mile 12 market those days with traders selling on the medians and road check out how it is today .remember all the side roads around Ketu bus stop were unmotor-able and now motor-able all the way to oladogba street, eleha and even the resurfacing of CMD avenue. remember the resurfacing of Oluwakemi street and most of the adjoining streets. That is the major road that turns off at alapere the ketu busstop has been transformed Ogudu road and Ogudu ori oke road are there for all to see Ketu toll gate road and many adjoining streets On the issue of security , this is the work of the FGn and unfortunately Lagos state can only do so much. Can you believe that Ketu station has just 1 (yes ONE) patrol vehicle? and guess what , that is the vehicle given to them by LASG. Water flows on the Ojota side of Ketu all the way to Magodo... the problem with the other side is the dense population and the extreme difficulties on running the water lines without major damage to property....again, these pipes are being hit by our people just for them to fetch water. My personal opinion is that portable water is one of our nice to haves in lagos. Almost every house has a borehole. Water is important but when we solve the issues of roads, power , security them we can tackle the wahala of pipebone water. With the foregoing , fashola may be called upon to do more but cannot be said to be a failure. Which ever way you look at it APC is well ahead of PDP in terms of real development I only pray things get better but its important for us all to register and vote for the right candidates in 2015. 2 Likes |

boladez: Thank you for your detail response. My concern for Fashola is to stop associating himself with failed PDP politicians. He should face the task of delivering dividend of democracy to his supporters. Sincerely, I am not impress with his second term performance so far. Tell me, what stopped the street light projects on Ikorodu road beyond independent tunnel down to Ojota? He promised to take it down Ketu almost a year ago. He should leave the FG alone and face his business of working for Lagos. I voted for him twice in 2007 and 2011. Hence my high expectations from him. 2 Likes |

boladez: You have really tried in your attempt at justifying Fashola's FAILURE. However it remains an attempt and a very poor attempt for that matter. On the issue of security, you are looking simply at the SYMPTOM, rather than looking at the CAUSE, which is rampant UNEMPLOYMENT and even for those employed their INSUFFICIENT wages based on the miserable N18,000 minimum salary. Fashola and his LGAs are mostly responsible for the cause of insecurity in the state. If & when he employs PROFESSIONAL teachers, doctors, nurses, school/clinic/hospital cleaners, administrators and pays them a COMPARABLE wage with all those political jobbers in the SAME employment of the LASG, including himself, Speaker Kuforiji, other legisLOOTERS etc, you will see insecurity reduce as it is in all those oyinbo places where Fashola's FAILURE along with Thief'nubu in the past 15 years have chased many able-bodied & intelligent Lagosians to hide It is very sad that you will say that installing pipes for TAP water provision will damage properties and roads YET you go on to say that the same roads should be done first before your smooth talking governor deals with a very BASIC and FUNDAMENTAL utility as TAP water Why are you so confused Then when you excuse him because of population density, you forget that is the basis of collecting plenty Niger Delta oil revenue national cake every month from Abuja like some god-forsaken almajiri While this is not about comparing APC with PDP, just to indulge you why not check out what is going on in Akwa Ibom and Enugu state. |

anonimi: Sir, Pls also compare the Revenue, land mass, population and topography of the states. I maintain that the LASG should do more but its quite unreasonable, wrong , biased or totally uninformed to call Fashola a failure. the areas of improvement as mentioned by the other poster includes The lighting of the ketu to ojota axis 4th mainland bridge speedy completion of projects - Mile 2 badagry, light rail, ikorodu to ketu etc etc value for money on projects the stealing is too much. |

boladez: Again you show plenty of CONFUSION in your post, which I will try to address a few salient ones. In the past when wages were low, how much were the political office holders & appointees like governor, LGA Chairman, state legislators and LGA Councillors receiving as their own pay. If you do not know go and find out then compare with the situation in Nigeria today. What I am talikng about here is not just increasing minimum wage for workers. No! I am talking about having COMPARATIVE wages for expected productivity and relative value creation by all CATEGORIES of workers for the SAME government, whether they are civil servants or political office holders. If you still do not understand what I am talking about go and find out the minimum wage in the US and the salary of a Senator and Congressman compared to Nigeria's N18,000 vis-a-vis N29 million You must be really shallow in your thoughts to give example of people sorting out refuse and "hustling" for hard work yet you talk about absence of values in the society. What kind of "hustle" do you think those guys are doing? - borderline crimes Such that they are willing tools for political THUGGERY and murder when needed for some crumbs out of their own cake thrown at them by the likes of Fashola and his party's "field agents" Please tell us why any RATIONAL person will want to go to university pay Fashola's 250k tuition fees for four years to start "hustling" on Olusosun refuse dump when he can be a party "field agent" till he becomes LGA Councillor with almost 300k salary guaranteed for contributing absolutely NOTHING of value to our society's well-being. In case you do not know the eligibility requirement to be a LGA Councillor is "attended Secondary school" and 25 years of age. No more! No less!! So you see where the problem is Where did I say LASG should give everyone work? Again displaying shallowness of your thoughts. Go read what I wote here and elsewhere again and quote where I said government should give EVERYONE work. I go dey wait oh Do you understand the meaning of the word MINIMUM Is LASG a minimum income GENERATING state? If not why should it stick to the minimum wage RECOMMENDED by the federal government based on the legislative work of senators and representatives, including those from Fashola's party 1. Public Water supply is not piped with the domestic pvc pipes you see in your home they require planned major supply lines that will go into major areas for distribution. And those buildings are invisible and have been so invisible for the past 15 years plus that Thief'nubu & Fashola have been in continuous charge of "their progreTHIEF" administrations? LASG obviously has not EMPLOYED enough Town Planning monitors to ensure adherence to ITS own laws. Don't you think so Let me throw your advise back to you and ask to google how the old town areas of European big cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt were fitted out with TAP water despite being heavily built up like Ketu. Meanwhile your idol realises his COLOSSAL FAILURE on this count hence he his TALKING about water provision to ALL Lagosians by 2020 i.e. five whole years after he has packed out of Alausa House https://www.nairaland.com/1865253/fashola-inspects-70-million-per He must really think we are all MUGUS like you taking excuses and collecting priviledge CRUMBS rather than asking that our BASIC RIGHTS be dealt with first. |

Lagosians have never been inspired and dazzled under any leadership like they do with the incumbent governor. No doubt, he possesses the charisma, the charm and the energy that the modern day Nigerian youths need to be aspire.
