Nigerians should demand a breakdown on how the budget on Security are being spent. As we are today the Army does not have ANY new set of hardware or weaponry.

The Airforce can only boast of just ONE serviceable fighter jet. We have more Presidential Jets, more private jets by Governors and contractors than we have a jet to defend our homeland. During one of the operations in Borno. Terrorists attacked our soldiers, they could not call for Air Support, young men and 11 female medical support staff fought and gave up to the superior fire power of the terrorists, they are Nigerians from every tribe.

Boko Harram slaughtered them and we have a defence spokesperson and Chief of Defence who would not present our terrible situation to the Commander in Chief
Do not blame military men who flee and do not blame those who earlier today made for Cameroon. It is not Cowardice. You do not fight terrorists with your obsolete weapons and see Commanders do nothing but remain contractors in our Nations capital.

Corruption is killing Nigeria but it is killing our military more. We are all in the mess together, as you make fun of our brave men and women for 'running away' from battle, you are poking fun at yourself!

The Nigeria president should get a nobel price for being so dumb. The guy is just too daft to do anything. You have to feel sorry for those poor soldiers when all their bosses are glorified morons. How can you send those guys to war with inadequate weapons, how can the soldiers that are putting their lives on the line have to be begging the government for armours and weapons. Over 200 girls have been missing from this country for over 4 months now and our president is busy celebrating with the governor of Osun state over their election victory with over 5000 soldiers guarding them. This country is just a joke.

But the Ibos refuse to fight and are some of the biggest deserters. Remember the Ibo police chief from Abia that fainted and upon revival promptly resigned after finding out he was posted to Borno? Would you trust such a fella with your war effort?

Is Gwoza Local Government not in the complete control of Boko Haram with all the military formations therein dislodged? What is stopping the NA from carrying out an Air Raid over Gwoza that has been in the control of Boko Haram for the past two weeks?

I do.

Its a question of the type of assets you have, precision weaponry with connectivity will see APC's, IFV's direct air assets after laser painting targets for precision bombs to be guided.

In addition if you have attack helicopters (which we should really have at least 40) with thermal imaging you can literally pin point enemy combatants on the ground collectively and individually.

The reality is YOU DON'T so your exposing your complete lack of knowledge in this regard.

So you never heard of instances of muslim pilots who refused to discharge their bombs because they saw BH praying

Or

Did they tell you that muslims do not exist in the airforce

Don't be surprised if muslim pilots who are pro-BH intentionally missed targets.

Re: Yes Nigerian Soldiers Escaped To Cameroon (photo Inside) by atlwireles: 6:51pm On Aug 28, 2014
THE greatest threat facing the nation’s war against the Boko Haram and other Islamist insurgents has to do with the unprecedented acts of sabotage that the national assignment is facing. Never at any other time in the history of Nigeria had the army been so bedeviled by internal and external undermining of efforts to rid the country of terrorists and other enemies of her unity and progress.
The sabotage comes in so many forms. It is both within and outside the confines of the armed forces. According to media reports, some military officers with sympathy for the cause of the insurgents sometimes reportedly divulge critical information about the plans of the military to undertake campaigns or even funnel military equipment to their partisans in the enemy camp. This, we learnt, has led to the unceremonious cancellation of such campaigns to avoid putting officers and men in danger of running into ambushes.
One of the greatest forms of the sabotage is misinformation. Many sympathisers of Boko Haram are very eager to approach, mainly, the foreign media to say uncomplimentary things about our armed forces . They create an impression of Boko Haram as an invincible force and Sambisa, their chosen camp, as an impregnable fortress. It is this misinformation and the subsequent avoidable losses in men and military material that give rise to the tales of real or imagined “mutinies” and protests among our men under arms.
The military high command, as well as their supervisory political authorities, must take firm steps to discourage acts of sabotage against our men and women confronting the terrorists. We are fully in support of the assurance by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Kenneth Minimah, that the army will henceforth go tough on saboteurs and visit them with the strictest dictates of the law when nabbed and convicted of the crime.
We are also gratified to note that army is on the verge of taking delivery of sophisticated equipment. It will surely boost morale among the troops and spur them to greater effort to flush the terrorists out of Nigeria.
We call on the mass media to redouble their efforts and throw their full support for the armed forces. More efforts should be made to de-emphasise the dissemination of sensational and unsubstantiated information because we may be unwittingly playing into the hands of the terrorists. It is important for media houses to take a closer hold of their online editions and minimise their use by the terrorists and their supporters to achieve their evil purposes.
The war on terror is not for the army, security agencies or the federal government alone. It is a collective effort. We must report suspected saboteurs to the appropriate authorities and keep our communities safe.

We’re now looking at a military force that’s, quite frankly, becoming afraid to even engage, said Alice Friend, the Pentagon’s principal director for African affairs. The Nigerian military has the same challenges with corruption that every other institution in Nigeria does. Much of the funding that goes to the Nigerian military is skimmed off the top, if you will.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/16/world/africa/nigerian-military-schoolgirl-hunt.html?_r=0

Same old story..

Sadly, the Nigerian military today is a crippled and bastardized organization with no fighting spirit or equipped to perform the most basic military function..

We all know how we arrived at this deplorable situation where our once proud, courageous and fighting military can no longer protect Nigerians, they can not even protect common 3 out of states, we are losing portions of Nigeria to some rag tag terrorists, our national map is completely distorted with terrorists doing the readjustment daily and unchallenged with ease. We have a military organization surrendering their military bases and weapons to terrorists everyday.

Bottomline, the fact that the military chiefs are still on the job and getting paid by the taxpayers means they are either grossly incompetent, lazy and corrupt or playing the script and design put together by the President...else, how hard is it to buy and give common bullets to our men in uniform? How hard is it to have helicopter gunships to detect and destroy terrorists convoy before they enter any town and village? Why must our military always MIA while terrorists loot, kill and burn down towns and villages for 12 hours ?

All while our president carry on unconcerned and carelessly as if he's not the president and this country doesn't belong to him.

HOw do you as the president of Nigeria go to bed at night knowing terrorists are still holding on to your hundreds of your school girls? How do you go to bed at night while losing portions of your country to terrorists everyday? The same country you swore to defend and protect under oath?

Something is wrong....
