ENLC (Emerging Nigerian Leaders Conference) is an integrated youth ethics, excellence in leadership and development mentoring programme. Once selected, participants remain in the programme for three years. ENLC is free for selected youths. It is organized by CSAAE INC.(Centre For Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics Inc.)

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 40% of Nigerians are unemployed and about 100 million (out of 160 million) Nigerians live in extreme poverty. Extreme poverty means not having enough food and water as well as lacking adequate shelter, healthcare and education.

Ironically, Nigeria is the most populous black nation in the world. Across the globe, we have more graduates than most countries of the world. Nigeria is also one of the richest countries in crude oil and one of the fastest growing economies in the world. What then is the problem with Nigeria?

“The problem with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership. There is nothing basically wrong with the Nigerian land or climate or water or air or anything else. The Nigerian problem is the unwillingness or inability of its leaders to rise to the responsibility, to the challenge of personal example which are the hallmarks of true leadership” (Achebe).

To this end, our goal is to inspire leaders with the competence, capacity and character to build a new Nigeria where all can find support and encouragement to work hard, live with dignity and feel proud to be Nigerians.

Certainly, this will not happen in a hurry and to many, particularly those who have been forced by circumstances to give up hope, such a dream sounds like madness and to such people, trying to clean up the country is like attempting to climb a mountain on high-heeled shoes – a mere waste of time and energy! Nonetheless, we remain chronically optimistic that the emergence of a new Nigeria is still a great possibility.

CSAAE adopts a tripod approach towards fixing Nigerian ethical leadership failure:

(1) Our “Emerging Nigerian Leaders Conference” has been designed to begin healing Nigerian leadership failure from the root through integrated youth ethics, excellence in leadership and development mentoring programme. Through a combination of seminars, skill set workshops, one-on-one mentoring, periodic advising, directed readings, professional networking, internships, leadership-building experiences, community services and ethical reorientation, Emerging Nigerian Leaders gain the knowledge, expertise and ethical base to become leaders of positive change.

(2) Our “Established Nigerian Leaders Conference” sensitizes present politicians, professionals, business executives and church leaders to treat Nigerians with respect, empathy and fairness.

(3) Our “Advocacy Programme” creates social awareness, advocates for the rule of good law and best ethical practices at all levels.

Through these programs we re-awaken the Nigerian social conscience, revive the Nigerian spirit of entrepreneurship and nurture morally responsible leaders of social change. CSAAE was founded in 2010 as a registered non profit centre in Nigeria. Together we can make Nigeria a better place for all of us!
