The first All Progressives Congress South-West Assembly was held in Ibadan on Thursday, where leaders of the party castigated Peoples Democratic Party for drawing the region backwards during the periods the party ruled in the zone.
Governors Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; National Vice -Chairman in the zone, Chief Pius Akinyelure, and the.party’s chairmen in the South-West were present at the meeting.
Also present were Senator Ganiyu Solomon from Lagos State, Senator Ajayi Boroffice from Ondo State, Senator Ayo Fasanmi. They were all unanimous in declaring that there was still hope for revival.
In a 12-point communiqué signed by Akinyelure and released to the media after deliberations, the PDP was described as lacking the political will to help Nigeria move forward.
It read in part, “The PDP does not have the capacity or the political will to salvage the awful situation of the country and lacks the vision to deal with the pitfalls the party has created.
Leadership is not about taking people to where they want to go, but taking them to where they should be.
The party said the 2015 general elections would be given all that was legally necessary in order to ensure the APC unseats the PDP in states and at the federal level. It warned that Nigerians should beware of those ruling them as they were full of tricks.
“Since the PDP has turned ruthless and ready to snatch power through a civilian coup, we must work more with the people and discontinue everything that will be against them. All programmes, policies and campaigns must be driven by the interest of the people,” said the communiqué.

Even if I don't know anybody there at least I am quite familiar with the extravagant and rapacious lifestyle of Chief Pius Akinyelure, a man who can use N250,000 to drink alcohol monthly, who can spend N10,000,000 monthly on his numerous girlfriends and mistresses....the last time I checked it was a PDP-led government by Obasanjo that paid off our debt, the most indebted States in Nigeria today are largely APC-controlled...so what are these clowns saying
