Hello my fellow Nlanders, I just thought about it today and decided to hear from my respected fellows here 'cos I haven't really met a military or remember meeting a core Yoruba military man or seen one before.

So I just want to ask/ discuss if there's any reason why there's limited Yoruba men in the military? Am all ears to be corrected if am wrong pls. Cheers

OP, you have not seen because you have not looked hard enough. There are plenty of them in every cadre of the military.

and to add to this, majority of the few ones that do apply never get short-listed, no thanks to quota system.. or so i thought

This was the perceived conception in the 50's and 60's, it's no longer obtainable today. Visit the various recruitment camps and you would re-appraise and re-position your belief.

Compared to other tribes, the ratio is low perhaps because Yorubas strive to be educated and prefer to sit in the comfort of an ACed office.

The insignificant ratio of the yorubas in the force however do more of administrative work and less of infantry I think as many of the tribe that has the highest percentage joined with O'level.

No offence to any tribe, simply my opinion!

OP,I think u should b more concerned on why we have more Northerners in d military in relative to oda regions...

because we the omoluabi Omo oduduwa are the ones who fought Biafra war and kept this country together...

Yorubas have sense,yes,they are not many in the army,who wants to slave away and get meagre salary at the end of the month anyways??check the navy and airforce,Yorubas dominate those two forces,even the current chief of air staff is yoruba

The only reason why I'm posting on this thread is because u claim to be Yoruba...if truly u are Yoruba,then its because of illiterate urchins like you that ignorant goblins like the op say crap about other peoples tribes.

If you and d op are actually interested in knowledge, then you should learn the proper way to seek for it.

Go to a recruitment centre and u'll realise that the army,navy and air force select equal number of candidates for each state,every year. The funniest thing is that candidates from SW & SE usually score higher and are usually more qualified than candidates from northern states,but because of the quota system,equal numbers must be selected from each state regardless of performance.

NDA graduates scholars with B.Sc too,in addition to military training.
