When photos of Desmond ‘Oluwashola” Eliot’s campaign posters and details of his platform, under APC, the leading political party in Lagos State, found their way to the internet last night, some of his fans began mocking him for the sudden adoption of the name “Oluwashola”.

“Very sad. Like Jonna, who added Ebele to his name in other to full the Igbos, this one has also added Yoruba name to his name, just to get the votes of the ignorant people that will be carried away by his fame and vote”, one Blessing Efam wrote on twitter.

An Instagram user MzEloh wrote “and ‘olusola’ comes out. I thought he was from Delta state? Desmond choose one, actor, filmmaker or politician”.

While a certain Azeez Oluwaseun wrote on facebook

“Olusola…Laughable! Well, let the best man win. If he has anything tangible to contribute, then he should be given a chance.The new name he added though, is laughable. Is that supposed to garner more votes for him or what? LOL! Are we Yorubas mediocres or are we short of intelligent Yorubas who can vote for office? Why the new name?”
