Ondo Orders Schools To Resume Sept. 22nd 

The Ondo state Government has directed that all public and private schools in the state should resume on Monday 22nd for the 2014/2015 academic session in line with the Federal Government directive.

According to a statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, government has made necessary provision for the safe return of pupils and students to their schools,adding that necessary steps  have been taken to address the current challenges resulting from the fear  of the Ebola Virus disease .

He said the state has already lined up activities to sensitize the public, Principal and Head teachers of schools on how to mitigate on the prevention of the Ebola Virus Disease.

The statement said Scanners will be distributed among schools in the state for early detection in the case of the Ebola virus or other contagious diseases.

Government said it is satisfied that reasonable measure have been put in place to ensure safety of pupils and students adding that Principals and Head teachers have been directed to provide water and soap in the schools especially in areas close to the toilet.  

The statement said meeting and sensitization are on-going among  education and health Ministry officials  as well as stakeholders in primary and secondary education system in the state adding that government has also brought in a disinfection expert from the United Kingdom to train in the prevention of the  disease.

Government has also engaged in aggressive sensitisation of our coastal areas where our people meet with nationals of other West African nations who engage in fishing.

The statement mentioned that government has directed the Ministry of Education to communicate its directive regarding the required preventive guidelines for resumption to owners of private schools in the state and ensure compliance with the directive before the resumption date.
