Frank Lampard had what was surely the most surreal experience of his professional life today, scoring against the club where he played for 13 years, after making an unexpected loan move to Manchester City during the summer.

He didn’t celebrate his goal against former club Chelsea out of respect, which was much appreciated by the Blues fans.

Didier Drogba, with whom he won the Champions League and three league titles, was suitably impressed with Lamps’ professionalism in going out to do his job without being overcome by emotion, and wrote an Instagram post dedicated to the man he calls his idol.
