Police authority in my part of the world use to hire me every week to do certain job for them with their computer. I normaly charge them 2000 naira each time, unknown to me that the man paying me has been reporting a higher amount (3000 naira) being paid for the job. The man's superiors finally decided to investigate the matter yesterday. Police Hilux van with escort officers pulled up infront of my office around 9am on that fateful day. In company of that officer that use to pay me, the superior officer walked into my office, asked for me and said 'how much do you colect for this job you always do for us?'. Before i could answer him, that man hurriedly replied the boss saying 'it's 3000 naira sir'. The superior officer then foamed, saying 'that's too exhorbitant, we won't hire you again'. I'm supposed to have contradicted the lie but i didnt want a situation whereby the lives of a man with a wife and 3 children will be in danger because the man is their bread winner. As a self employed university graduate, i seem to have lost their patronage. Since i was not giving them receipt, the man may even say i'm lying -- which may trigger a setup to victimize me.
