Judges of the Federal High Courts in the country also gathered last week in Owerri, Imo State capital for their Legal Year Conference.

The conference comes less than three weeks after the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) held their 54th annual general conference in the state capital, tagged ‘NBA AGC Owerri 2014,’ which held 25 to 29 August.

According to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria (CJFHCN), Ibrahim Auta (a Justice), the Judges are in Imo State for the legal year conference, which is an annual event, and as well to commission the Federal High Court in Owerri.

Governor Rochas Okorocha, while welcoming the Federal High Court Judges disclosed that the state government has embarked on construction of a Judiciary complex, which would be named after late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, who was one time Chief Judge of Imo State.

Governor Okorocha commended the Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria for what he described as “the speedy delivery of Justice, especially in the cases relating to political disputes.”

The Imo governor described the Federal High Court as the foundation of Judiciary in Nigeria, and thanked the Federal Government for establishing a Federal High Court in Owerri.

He also described the Judiciary as not only the last hope of the common man, but also the last hope of the country’s democracy, and told the Judges that the nation appreciates the work they are doing in Justice delivery, urging them not to relent.

The best way to win your detractors is to keep on doing good. After what Charlie Boy did, Okorocha has still gone ahead to honour Justice Oputa.

I will expect the never mature old man Charley Boy to go and remove his father's name so the myopias in Igbo land can applaud him.
