Why Is This Thread In The Politics Section And On The FP While ... by arresa: 7:45pm On Sep 25, 2014
Why is this thread allowed and still in politics section and on the FP and similar thread about Lagos was moved to the Travel section and yet to be moved back?

Why is it and others like it not in the Travel section just like the Lagos thread?

Anambra

https://www.nairaland.com/1919829/welcome-anambra-state-thread-light

Lagos

https://www.nairaland.com/1894158/lagos-state-pride-south-west

Considering the fact that there's Enugu thread still on the FP on top of the Anambra thread.

What's the problem really? What's wrong with Lagos and Lagos threads?

Don't underrate the power of PDP.

Anything to improve the rating of APC states has no place in the politics section.

Nairaland is an online NTA.

I don't even get the rational behind it apart from the fact that it was intentional bias.

Till this very second, they still can not come up with any rational explanation for their this travesty and blatant bias..

What do you expect when you have a mass of ibos littering the section as moderators? They bring in their mediocrity and dishonesty, and spoil things for every other people.

The Anambra thread should be moved to where the Lagos thread is. The Enugu thread should be left there because it came before the decision to move similar thread. No retroactive laws here.

The way I see it, they can have their Enugu thread, Anambra thread and Akwa Ibom thread, but don't blatantly exclude other regions.. This is not the only region in Nigeria.

Btw, they have at least 2 Imo threads too and there's another one talking about Igbo economic power or something like that ...all in the same politics section while they moved and relegated Lagos state thread to the travel section.

Tell, what's a thread about schools, classrooms and hospitals doing in the travel section? Do tourists travel to classrooms and hospitals in Lagos state. It makes no sense. It was sent there to be buried for obvious bias reason...

As for the thread meant to showcase Lagos, it was
moved to the Travel section because after the last
state picture posting controversy we agreed that all
threads showcasing pictures of states either for the
sake of criticism or for praise should be moved to the
Travel section.
Re: Why Is This Thread In The Politics Section And On The FP While ... by arresa: 9:52pm On Sep 25, 2014
^^ Obviously, that decision applies only to the Lagos thread since all the other thread especially the ones from that same region are still in the politics section and on the front page with many more showing up and staying everyday..

This is my response, Seun take note.
Sincerely the Lagos thread belong to the travel section. We as Nigerians can only use it and Abuja to rival neigbouring african capitals. Why must you tag a federal state as Lagos pride of the S/West. Even before these fake cries, many of us know what you intend posting as pictures in the Lagos thread. Federal edifice like the Tafawa Balewa square, Third Mainland bridge, Tin Can ports, MMI airports and the numerous national monuments of post/pre colonial Nigeria. What happened to Ibadan, Abeokuta, Akure and other capitals. What is the shame in it, if you tag one of these capitals as pride of the S/West. Borrow a leaf from our northern folks from Kano who only show you the beauty of their state. They and the people of the N/Central have been diplomatic enough by not toeing your line. You can never see a thread with the headline ' Abuja pride of the North'. If Uyo - a minority capital can have it's thread still trailing in the politics section , I see no reason why you shouldn't do likewise. Seun is smart enough to know the antics of those clamouring for the Lagos thread to be in the politics section. These whiners should revive the Ibadan thread and show us the beauty of your capital - the seat of government of the Western region. Sophistication indeed!

Stop the whining and revive the Ibadan thread. Or better still create a new thread and tag it "Ibadan pride of the South West. Just like your nothern and Eastern counterparts. We have seen Kaduna, Kano, Enugu, Imo and Uyo. What stops you from bringing up a thread on Abeokuta or Akure since you are ashamed of reviving the Ibadan thread. What a shame.

You mean Lagos pride of the SW is not allowed, but Ibadan pride of the SW is allowed. Is the policy pride of anywhere is OK as long as it's not Lagos?

Everything in that thread was done in Fashola's administration so what's the rubbish about federal projects like federal bridges?

And Lagos is a Federal state? You lack common sense and you sound unintelligent..

Am not being biased but frank with you. Anything that has to do with Lagos and Abuja should be tagged as PRIDE OF NIGERIA. A melting pot of the nations growth and unity. Anything that goes contrary to that becomes a mockery to not just Nigerians but also in the eyes of those who want our downfall. The same way you wouldn't tag 'Abuja the pride of the North', that is the Same way you dare not tag Lagos the pride of the S/West. Lagos Pride of Naija is a better alternative that can be used. You can list Fashola's inputs and achievements and you will be shocked to see the good comments and praises that Lagosians of every tribe, creed and religion will usher on that wonderful man. The development that Lagos has witnessed is enormous and will need much hands to post pictures of both Fashola, Tinubu and previous military and civilian government's achievement's in the state - Buba Marwa inclusive. If Seun had allowed the slogan Lagos pride of the S/West, I doubt if it will get to 5 pages before it get's thrown into the ethnic/sectarian section, or get banned completely. Of course the tribalists will invade it and make a mess of it. Any thread that has to do with Lagos is essentially a medium for uniting the country. Unless you are opening a purely political and sectional thread which you can tag maybe 'The Politics of Lagos '. In addition, any thread of such purpose should be opened by a true non-partisan Lagosian who hasn't soiled his hands in nairaland's ethnic politics. Someone who understands developments on a wider scale. From the Egun floating school of Makoko, to the husling of Hausa/Kanuri traders in Idi araba - who out of bravery strove to bring farm goods to Lagos despite Boko Haram onslaught; to the turn around of swampy Alaba by Igbo traders to a modernized commercial nerve that yields Lagos huge internal revenue'. Don't be suprised that when such thread is opened it will break nairaland's record for the heighest numbers of pages in a thread. But for me, however, I think you are not in the right position to open such thread because the word ethnic champion is written all over your face. And again, Seun can approve such thread in the politics section only when it meets it's objective of unity and progress. My two cents.

Let me even for the sake of argument go with your pride of Nigerian sentiments. If Lagos is the pride of Nigeria which it really is just like the other 35 states in Nigeria, then why hide and bury your pride where people can not see it? Shouldn't your pride be in the forefront for the world to see?

If NL is really a place where people love and cherish their pride like your so called Lagos the pride of Nigeria, shouldn't it be on the front page for the world to see and admire? Shouldn't you be advocating for it to be on that front page for the world to see?

What is a mockery is you/Nigerians burying and hiding their own pride for reasons best known to them..

It makes no sense to label something your pride then turn around and hide it away.

This thread about the Oba of Lagos welcoming the Emir of Kano was quickly moved to the culture section

But another thread where the same Oba said something negative against his fellow Yoruba traditional rulers remains in the politics section, not moved to the culture section..
