Some people use "my name is while some use my name's are". Please friends which 1 is correct

I want to believe that its d way the question is asked that will determine your reply..for example,If u were asked- what are your names,then I think your answer should be-My names are Lagbaja omobaba mukomuko..And if otherwise..like what is your name,then answer should be- my name is Peter..If u were asked to introduce yourself..its best you give your full names,using the 1st example..

That is what uniquely identifies you. What confuses people is the fact that we tend to have names to fulfil certain things e.g culture So most nigerians have an added name that reflect their ethnicity. The bottomline remains...whether u have 2,3 or 4 different entities,they all (put together) constitute ur name as such the use of 'are' is wrong as u cant have 2 different names. Afterall if u use a toyota camry ce and u were asked the name of ur car, u wouldnt say 'my cars' names are Toyota Camry CE. cuz its the totality that identifies the car u drive.....#MyTake

You only have one name which is the identity by which you are known. It usually consists of a combination of your first name, middle name and last name although you can decide to provide any one of this information for ease of remembrance, as is mostly done within social circles.

It would be absurd to answer the question "what IS your name?" by beginning with "my names ARE...". It would certainly be more logical for the question in that case to have been "what ARE your names?"

Very wrong, Sir. The rule you gave is a Nigerian one. It is not standard.

There is nothing like 'My names are...' except maybe in Nigeria and some Anglophone African countries.

The number of your names included does not matter as long as they refer to one person. And as long as they refer to one person, they are to be treated as a unit (in the singular) not units.

Example, My name is Paul

My name is Ade Dojo Paul

The correct phrase is " my name is", u don't say " my names are".

'My names are' is a blunder not correct. You are singular even if u have a 100 names u address urself by ' my name is'
