THE OLD ANTHEM... Nigeria we hail thee Our own dear native land Though tribe and tongue may differ In brotherhood we stand Nigerians all and proud to serve Our sovereign motherland Our flag shall be a symbol That truth and justice reign In peace or battle honour And this we count as gain To pass unto our children A banner without stain O God of all creation Grant this our one request Help us to build a nation Where no man is oppressed And so with peace and plenty Nigeria may be blessed THE NEW ANTHEM Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria's call obey To serve our fatherland With love and strength and faith The labor of our heroes past Shall never be in vain To serve with heart and might One nation bound in freedom, peace, and unity. Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause Guide our leaders right Help our youth and truth to know In love and honesty to grow And living just and true Great lofty heights attain To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign. 2 Likes |

Wellbeloved2014:yeah right, but I prefer the NEW anyway. The problem is not the lyrics of an Anthem, the problem is from the actions of government to the citizenry. |

marioking:People like Shekau and his gang of bastards are first and foremost victims of the society and bad governance like everyone of us(excluding relatives and friends of corrupt system). Unfortunately, the Shekau and group choose a wicked path to vent their frustration and displeasure. Though I don't sympathise with them because they cause more damage to innocent people, I feel that the government must do more to make their evil struggle unattractive to Nigeria Youths by putting things in place to attend to their basic needs. |

I prefer the old one. And shekau didn't arise cos of bad leadership. Boko haram is strictly more of islamic agenda though some politicians highjacked them, that's why tracing the origin a lot of northern leaders would be mentioned but they grew into something else. Are we going to say that ISIS is also as a result of bad leadership? If we claim that boko haram was as a result of bad leadership, then what will we say about the Niger Delta militants? The militants fought against bad leadership and when they were called to settle they came. But boko boys have been called and yet they refused. And please before any insults, my opinion isn't about PDP or APC it is about the fact that this notion is why we keep celebrating boko haram indirectly by always helping them spread news of their victories and condemn or doubt the Army's victories. 1 Like |
