Hello Doc,
Please I have a slight tender swelling at the lower side of my left cheek just a bit lower than my ear. I don't know if it has to do with oral or dental health.
I will give you a brief history of my oral and dental health.
I am ashamed to say I have never been to a dentist even thought I have had off and on bleeding gum since childhood. In fact it persisted till I was introduced to sensodyne. In fact it usually comes back if I should off it, before then, I am usually very careful when brushing cos the pain is usually excruciating whenever the brush mistakenly touch that end of molars and gum. Even chewing on that side of the cheek is painful till I started forcing myself to chew gum with side to exercise it.
Please I need your advice on the right doctor to consult.
And is there any test I can undergo that will not have any adverse effect on the baby as I'm pregnant. I'm so concerned cos it seems the swelling has worsened with the pregnancy.

Please I just discovered two small stone like mass under my right cheek jaw, I started searching after I read something like salivary stone and blockage and the parotid gland blockage. Which is the right doctor for me to consult? Do you also specialize in oral health too?. Please reply ASAP.

Madam am not a dentist but from the little I know and since you are preggy, I will advise you to visit your nearest dental clinic for consultation, please do this asap as dental issues only get worse as time goes by, it's like a ticking time bomb waiting to unleash it's danger. However let me ask, can you sleep peacefully without pains from the gum/tooth?

Yes I do sleep very well, the pain is more so occasional ache which is becoming frequent under the right side of my jaw.
Planning to do that but was hoping I could talk to the dentist here since he works at Luth and see if I could come see him.

Okay, Luth is very good place to go but going soon will mean sooner treatment depending on the situation of the tooth as some dentists do give several appointments. The fact that you can still sleep can mean the tooth infection hasn't gotten to the root. Is there any cavity in the tooth of which the pain seems to come from.?

I will visit Monday or Tuesday but frankly I wouldn't know if there is cavity in the tooth as I don't even understand all that. I think it has to do with gum and side of the cheek which i am suspecting salivary or parotid gland blockage or stone.

okay, a cavity is a hole which is sometimes the cause of such pains but whichever way I believe you will get to know what's wrong by Monday.

bad breath is caused by a variety of causes ranging from internal to external factors. So the basis of treating the bad breath is to treat the underlying cause. So i will recommend u to come over to luth for specialist care.

the internal cause can be from various tins ranging from git problems like ulcer to respiratory issues to even sinusitis. Well,i cant say the exact cause cos im not a magician,the cause can only be identified after tests have been carried out.

in luth,before a general cleansing,a thorough examination has to be done .to do dat u need to register cos ure a new patient nd dat is 1k,if during d examination,u need to take radiographs,dats 400 per one,the cleansing itself is 1k ,so i would advise u budget maybe 3 to 4k.

yes sir,i av earlier,please check the previous pages. Its effective so far ure a suitable patient. in luth,d bleaching cost around 20k or so,but before that u might need to do some examinations,treatments,so just budget 20 to 25k. In private hospitals,its a lot higher,maybe times 2 or 3.

doctor this is my story................. i have a hole in one of my premolar and its giving me the pain of my life (my life) i attempt removing it myself ignorantly with a curved thin needle-like iron,i already know this will surely cause pain and i take 4 paracetamol before starting my self operation.that night nobody sleep in my house,i was like where are those paracetamol i took ? I attempt taking additional two and they stopped me but i took 3 for stopping me because if they were in my shoe they will have swallowed the whole sachet of the paracetamol..nothing helps that night as the affected part of my jaw was producing heat,i was shouting and it was helping than just staying silent though i dont talk but i do eeeeeeee uuuuuuuu kliklklikli by network ,one eye red and you will have seen the affected part swollen,i swear to GOD one thing that help by miracle is carrying a bucket of water as i ve tried crazy things like doing headstand,jugging,cry-dancing etc but carrying a bucket of water on my head helps.for like 2 hours i was standing sweating with loads on my head looking like a thief ,,,na me first reach adeoyo general hospital but the woman is wicked or even a witch .she jokingly said i'm pregnant on my jaw and she said i should have go to the labour room i told her crying 'doctor,and you get pikin 4 house'

ur story is quite funny. hope uve learnt ur lesson never to try that again.if u av any dental problem,go to ur dentist asap. Btw,av u removed the tooth now and how is that side of ur jaw,is it still swollen ?.

it has not been removed but no pain like before bacause i ve stop eating with that side for like a year and i dont have to think before eating cuz the food knows where to go without another wahala,,pls how much will it cost me to get it removed from the ROOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT ? And hope no pain ? If there will be pain ,how much does sleeping peel that last for 2days cost too ? Sorry for the question as i have my reasons

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lukupemidasha,,,,i dont know how to describe it,e pay me make i dey kirikiri prison than toothache,,,,i'm even confused if thats pain (my own o) if its truly a pain too it must be heavily pain,,,one hidden secret about me is show me chewing gum i wnt run but tear the nylon,bring it out and point it towards me then i will run for my life

Good afternoon Doc and thanks for all your insights. What could be the issue if one is experiencing intermittent tooth ache, sometimes as if the teeth is mildly frozen or shocked? Sometimes pain could be excruciating. Is this what is called "sensitive teeth"? Any quick home remedy or first aid as I am not in a location where I would love to access a Dentist for now.
