A 60-year-old woman, Deborah Lawani, has committed suicide by hanging at No 56, Araromi Street, Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Sources said the incident occurred by midnight on Thursday when the deceased secretly left her husband in bed to hang herself with a rope tied to the staircase of a storey-building.The woman was said to have divorced her husband, Olabangbe Lawani, 20 years ago.

she returned to her husband about two weeks ago after a reconciliation process initiated by one of their children. No reason was given why late Olabangbe took her life, but a source told to our correspondent that the deceased once complained that all her children had abandoned her.

The source added that the late woman’s widower was insane and that members of his family were accusing the deceased of bewitching him.
