W̶̲̥̅̊є̲̣̣̣̥ had a little argument this morning in the office on the above subject matter. Kindly share ϔ☺ΰя̩̥̊ opinion on who is Greater. A̶̲̥̅♏ of the opinion that the Governor is more powerful being the number 1 citizen of the state which has at least 3 of its citizens in the senate but A̶̲̥̅♏ suprised to hear that some people think otherwise. Kindly correct ♍ƺ if A̶̲̥̅♏ wrong.

It depends on what you mean by powerful .........................

a governor rule a state
a senator represent some region or constituency of a state .............

powerful to carry heavy stone or what. If u are talking about influential, in which way or area

even though ur topic is not well stated. A Governor wield more power than the senator, in that the individual political decision of a Governor affects the senator but that of the later does not affect the Governor. A Governor can mobilize for the recall of a senator. that is why when a Governor defects to another party the senators from his state defects with him just to be in his good books

The Governor is more powerful and More Influential than a Senator-even more than a Senate President. The President, The Political Party and even elders do not take Governors' lightly. Even the constitution grants the Governor membership of influential organ of government like the Council of State. The Governor possess executive powers and the well-being of his state depends on the actions or inactions of him.

The Senator is just a representative of a district from the state. He enjoys little or no "political power" in its real sense and can be rendered politically irrelevant by the Governor at any time.

But in d years to come we would start seeing Senators more powerful than Governors. The reason being many former Governors are going to d Senater therby leaving their stooges to run their states. For example now would anyone of u say Governor Abdul fatah of Kwara State is stronger & more powerful than Bukola Saraki.
