THE SUDDEN LOVE FOR ATIKU, AND ANTI BUHARI RANTS BY GEJ SUPPORTERS:IT’S ALL A GAME

The Yorubas have a saying, “ ta laa na, ta laraa n ro’.’ELekun sukun, Laaroye n sun eje’ When a fellow begins to weep more than the bereaved, one must check out critically the hidden precepts behind such crocodile tears. Such is my view with the rabid rantings of some who have been shouting their voices hoarse over GMB declaration on Wednesday.

One of them, a so-called lawyer based in the US had said publicly on FFK’s wall after the Osun elections, he was going to work with him ‘FFK’, even though he was Pro- Aregbesola in Osun Decides, being from the same Ijesha as him.

The required homework of the anti-Buhari rabble rousers has been hammering on his speech, citing his non-elucidation of points, the blue-print for Nigeria which he hasn’t presented, and citing it as enough reason why he isn’t ready to rule the country. They compare him to Atiku, citing his own prepared document of how to take the country away from the economic doldrum we are currently in.

Buhari has been accused , is accused and will still be accused of so many offences, if its not ‘building bridges of friendship’, its been an ‘ethnic jingoist’, or been a ‘northern irrendentist’ ,bla-bla bla, Atiku to them however, is a pan-Nigerian, the better prepared candidate who the APC must present to face the clueless Otuokean.

What puzzles me however is that many of those posturing for Atiku online are neither clear APC supporters, nor card-carrying members of the party. Indeed, what I’ve noticed is that very many of them support GEJ to continue even if the ship of the nation continues to sink irretrievably.
The fact is that, no politician on his own has ever drafted all his proposals for making the country better on his own. The only politician who had a clear idea of how to make the country better,Chief Obafemi Awolowo, had policy papers drafted for him also, even if it was debated at the party caucus and he understood clearly, how to champion it, and where funds to prosecute it were going to come about.

An example is the Free education Programme, which remains Awo’s long lasting legacy. It was drafted by Professor Hezekiah Oluwasanmi, and Chief Adekunle Ajasin, . Awo proposed to name it, ‘Free and Compulsory Education’. The “Compulsory’ aspect was dropped after stringent opposition by the NCNC, which went to town to raise apprehension about Awo snatching masses kids from them in the guise of education.

What the TAN alatenujes, the ‘sudden Atiku lovers’ don’t tell you, is that presenting Atiku to face GEJ, will make their task the easiest. That means the opposition has lost the only currency with which it uses to present itself as a viable alternative to the FEEDEEFEE. Which is its stance on anti-corruption. The same fellows will come up tomorrow and shout. Even though, GEJ is corrupt, is Atiku better?. Why chase out a thief only to bring in an armed robber?. And the simplistic arguments about the devil you know being better than the angel you don’t yada-yada will start.

Buhari did not bring in any ‘blue-print’ when he paid off the nations’ debt acquired by the spend-thrift NPN government of Shehu Shagari, he didn’t sell any blue-print when he constructed 2 major refineries within 2 years, he didn’t sell any blue-print when his administration for the first time since Muritala Muhammed showed discipline could really be enforced in the Nigerian psyche.

The sudden Atiku lovers know BUHARI’s name sells, as can be attested to by the huge crowd of unpaid people who attended his rally, and assueredly decide to smear his name as they always do. Is it not Abati who is whining that Ezekwesili , the lead campaigner of ‪#‎Bringbackourgirls‬, was present, and so, by implication, the whole campaign was a ruse by the opposition to bring down his boss’ Government.

It was this same sudden ATIKU lovers, who have at various times pooh-poohed the APC as being incapabale of mounting sustained challenge to the FEEDEEDEE, who are mortified at the prospect of the genuine chance Buhari has to upseat them from the chokehold which they’ve held Nigerians for the past 16 years.

Isn’t it this same Buhari with a less than 7 month old party, who was successful in garnering 12 million votes in 2011?. What stops him now with the Pan-Nigerian rainbow coalition to send PDP packing from Aso Rock in 2015.
These same class of people are those who are mounting a sustained ‘opposition’ to the candidacy of Raji Fashola now and Asiwaju Tinubu before as Vice Presidential candidates to Buhari, raising the issue of ‘Muslim-Muslim’ candidacy. And what a cunning but stupid observation they’ve raised.
The most prominent campaigner against the said option, Femi-Fani Kayode who has now moved to his natural habitat, the PDP, conveniently forgot that in 2003, in his state,Osun, the people voted out, Chief Abdul Kareem Adebisi Akande, and voted in PRINCE OLAGUNSOYE OYINLOLA,and ERELU OLUSOLA OBADA (BOTH CHRISTIANS) , in an arguably, higher muslim populated state!!.

He hasn’t also mentioned that in 1979, the UPN fielded Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, and Chief Sesan Soluade as its candidates for the Gubernatorial election in Ogun state and won!. It also did so in Oyo fielding, Chief Bola Ige,and Chief Sunday Afolabi in a then muslim populated state like Oyo and won!
The same fellow has also conveniently declined to ever mention that currently, in Ekiti, his party chose Ayo Fayose , and Dr Kolapo Olubunmi Olusola, both Christians as its candidate in the June 21 elections with muslims amounting to up to 25% of the population and the sky didn’t fall.
And what is this obsession with Muslim-Muslim candidate anyway. Wasn’t it in this same country that the evidently cerebral Awolowo, and a Baba Ijo in the Anglican Church instigated the AG parliament to remove, a ‘SAMUEL’ Ladoke Akintola
, a BAPTIST, and a trained lawyer, and replaced him with a stark illiterate muslim, Alhaji DAUD ‘ DAUDA’ SOroye Adegbenro, even if short-lived, and was it not , another Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa who masterminded Alhaji Adegbenro’s (house arrest) detention in Osogbo, and re-installed Samuel Akintola as Premier of Western Region?

It is in this same Nigeria, that a muslim, Alhaji Lamidi (Abdul Hamid) Adedibu pulled out all stops with Alhaji Lati (Abdul-Lateef) Eleweomo and ‘impissed”, Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja, so Chief CHRISTOPHER, Adebayo Alao-Akala, could be Governor.
It is in this same Nigeria, that OTUNBA JUSTUS OLUGBENGA DANIEL, staked his political career, against General Adetunji Olurin( a Christian like him), and rooted for Gboyega ‘NASIR” Isiaka as the best gubernatorial material.
It’s in this same Nigeria that BABA OLOYE, Alhaji Olusola Saraki in 1982/1983 mobilized against a fellow muslim, ALhaji Adamu Attah, to ensure the success of Chief Cornelius Adebayo, a Christian, in a muslim dominated state like Kwara!
‘Sebi’, it was this same Nigeria, when Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, with all his pretences of chanting ‘insha Allah’ everytime, refused to hand over to a Muslim Chief MOSHOOD Kashimawo Abiola, and instead stepped aside for an Anglican,Chief ERNEST Shonekan?!
You see friend, what this closet Jonathanians don’t tell you is that they fear the prospect of a genuinely formidable politician down-South teaming up with Buhari, as that will ensure their sure defeat.

A Fashola is revered across the SouthWest, Middle-Belt and parts of the old Mid-West as a performer. His popularity can be attested to by the other candidates of his party who request his presence at their rallies so as to drum up more support for their candidacies.
Tinubu’s popularity is also not in doubt by the GEJ supporters, they know what they may come up against, and will fight hard to ensure, that in the event that BUHARI is picked, he would be paired with a paper-weight politician who will be incapable of pulling votes for him down-south.
When they claim their love for ATIKU, smile and ask them what they did to support him in 2011, When they tell you Buhari cannot fight corruption like in the 70’s, smile and tell them, 20 billion dollars of the country’s patrimony won’t be stolen under Buhari’s watch, and he won’t have the temerity to deny the figures and claim it was much lower.

When they shout a BUHARI-FASHOLA ticket won’t work , as its ‘MUSLIM-MUSLIM’, smile and turn your ears the other way, they won’t vote for him any way, what they’re actually saying is ‘ That ticket would finish them politically’.
When they clamour that BUHARI threatened to make the country ungovernable for Jonathan, REMIND THEM IT WAS THE SAME Rueben Abati who made that proposition, and begged for an out-of-court settlement when General Buhari sued him for libel.

When they say, what does Buhari have to offer or what is he coming back to do again after 29 years, let them know that it as indictment on them, that a Buhari who has lived far longer than GEJ, and served in juicier posts can’t be accused of corruption, while their Principal is universally acclaimed of being a pathogen sent to milk Nigeria hollow. When they ask you for an example, present them with this ready example:,Buhari would never say this ''What many Nigerians refer to as corruption is actuallly stealing. Stealing is not the same thing as corruption. like their principal said on 21st October 2013.
