I have always been an advocate of flying him out to india. in cases like this experience cuts the speculations and tests in half. I did say he needs a minimum of 5m in order to come out of this. the OP should be able to get a visa to india in record time because this is a medical emergency. what we should be talking about now is how to stabilize him either at Luth or UCH before flying him out. while he is in Luth or UCH we intensify efforts to get him out to india.

if u check my previous posts u will see what a doctor in the states said in response to an email I sent to them on behalf of the OP. we need not waste further time. the more fluid builds up in his stomach it would press on his diaphragm and cause him difficulty in breathing and can even back up into his lungs and cause cardiac failure because his heart wouldnt be able to cope with the excess fluid build up. i am not even talking about the internal infection from the excess fluid within him. sorry if I sound so grim but this is what delay would cause.

if we are really serious we would set up a committee that would look at ensuring he is first stabilized in one of our hospitals while we work on flying him out. I can even support with 500k for this but we need to get things started.

I'm looking at the time it will take yo process his travel documents and come up with the money for treatment over there. This could take at least two weeks and it's not advisable for him to stay home for that long. He needs medical attention ASAP and sadly, the teaching hospital is his best bet for now.

I've been speaking with th Op since morning, he sounds stable. I'm yet to recover from d shock of my first cousin's death whose case was similar to his. I beg u in the name of our creator, let those who can visit him, do. Those who can mobilize for his movement should pls take up d challenge. I've never been so touched by any one's story herein, he doesn't deserve to suffer while a debate is going on as to where he could be treated.

Please, please, I repeat, please do not go to any herbalist. I found out last week sunday that someone I used to know went to a herbalist in Benin for treatment and died there. I am still filled with sorrow over his death because the proper treatment was available. I jst don't understand why he could not take advantage of it.

Obviously the family of this man are kind of illiterate(no offence intended), and are clueless in what to do next. What needs to be done before tomorrow morning is that a number of people should voluntarily come together, get there very early and discuss the pros and cons of all options
My Two Penny - 1. No private hospital( Reason- a specialist is needed and there's no assurance that there's a gastroenterologist in any private hospital that might be picked)
2. A sophisticated teaching hospital is needed for stabilisation and management(at least for now), UCH will still be my pick any day. Prayers for journey mercies
3. If collation of money reaches substantial level, Mr Hammed should be taken to India

Brother Hameed, you said in one of your posts that you went to two previous hospitals and they all kept referring you to LUTH. The reason why they are doing this is because LUTH is a teaching hospital with better facilities. I don't know of this Abeokuta hospital but what if you manage to go there and they still refer you to LUTH? Time would have been wasted.
Please, I beg you, change your mind. Accept LUTH for now, let them stabilise you for a few days. If by tuesday, we don't see any improvement, they themselves will give you a referral to somewhere maybe in UCH or india. Please.

The Abeokuta "hospital" is not a modern medical centre from my own understanding. Even the name is off, no offence meant. I already told OP that I'm not in support. His family is probably on his neck to take him there.

As for the guy that provided us with a car and driver, unfortunately he couldn't reach his driver.

As for LUTH, OP doesn't want to go there.

As for UCH, someone told me there is a probability the doctors would go on strike next week.
