You forgot to mention the most impportant, expect to see sight of suffering that will make u say' thank God'. If u av a whole person who is probably frustrated cos he has no job or has nt eaten since mrng, jst pay his transport fare and take him on a stroll to d hospital, after seeing people really suffering his orientation will most def change

6) It is by far cheaper than any private hospital (clinics)

It's called a public hospital because it's meant for the public!

And why won't you expect to see a queue? What were expecting before? Rowdiness? Or were you expecting to see the same number of doctors as the number of patients(a doc to a patient?

The day private hospitals decide to slash down the fees, I can guarantee you, you'll find a long queue as well.

All these happen be because the doctor to patient ratio in Nigeria is bad so the patients tend to overwhelm the doctors resulting in long queues. Nigerians also prefer going straight to the tertiary centres leaving the primary health centres with less work and tertiary with long queues of patients. Health institutions operate a referral system from the primary to tertiary. Some health workers also contribute with their bad attitude to work.

i dont pray to go to a public hospital again because the way i see it 'if the sickness did not kill you then the medical staff will'

Expect to see Medical students and Doctors using your body and ailments as subject of study. They even ask you questions like they'll provide immediate solution.
this is the one I hate d most. At least they should ask for ur permission first and respect ur privacy if u say no.

grin just go early cos u will wait. That usually start by 9am so be there like 8.30am to write your name on the register or pick a space or number. Then u will be through no later than 9.30am

there is not trial by error which abounds in most private hospitals smiley

Again specialist Doctors abounds in the Public hospital and this is one reason I like it.

When I saw this thread, I knew it would contain negative perception of the topic. I'm not disappointed and I don't have to read to tell you 5 POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT PUBLIC HOSPITALS
1) They can boast of, virtually, all branches medical personnel
2) That's where Medical experts are majorly produced
3) It's still very affordable for the common man. Don't forget free medical service for infants and the aged above 60
4) They offer services for a good number of the private hospitals
5) You don't pay for free services like immunizations in public hospitals.
These are not just contrary opinions but facts as well.
