THE Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) has rewarded the women national team, the Super Falcons, with the sum of N10 million for winning the African Women Championship (AWC) in Namibia.

TAN, which announced the cash donation to the team at a reception in honour of the players and officials for winning the AWC for the seventh time, charged the players and officials to ensure that they conquered the world in Canada for the first time as African champions.

Executive Vice Chairman of the group’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba, who made the disclosure at the reception in Abuja, said while the players will get N5 million, the backroom staff will share N2 million and the NFF will get N3 million.

Ubah, whose keynote address was read by the Director of Communications and Strategy, Udenta Udenta, said, “TAN memorably welcomes the continent-conquering Super Falcons team to TAN City. We are celebrating a unique set of individuals that brought gold and diamond to this country. They have shown that they have the spirit to conquer like Falcons flying beyond every other bird.

“Nigerians have always taken our female team for granted, but having conquered the continent they will also rule the world in Canada next year. They will unleash the Nigerian spirit and conquer the world with the support of Mr. President and the passion of Nigerian public.”

In his remarks, NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, expressed the board’s appreciation of the efforts of TAN in the development of football in the country, noting that the Super Falcons victory was in line with good luck, which the Nigerian president has brought to the sporting sector.
