i found this article online and decided to share it with fellow nairalanders cos it's so informative and educative. It's a food for thought for all of us.

NIGERIA is blessed

The landmass outside Lagos is so astonishing. If a
mini state like Lagos can generate over N400b in
internal revenue just imagine the possibilities in
states like Yobe, Niger, Taraba or Oyo. My goodness.
And before we begin to lay emphases on Lagos being
a coastal region. Dubai aint a coastal region. Dubai
has the same dessert terrain like Sokoto and the rest.
Yet they were able to use their resources to develop
their terrain.

I sat back and imagine what Zanfara would have
looked like if the excess crude revenue was used to
develop the world's biggest solar power panel thats
powers Africa's first Health Care City housing over
3,000 medical experts and professionals around the
world.

I sat back and imagined what Bayelsa would look like
with the world's largest fruit hub sitting in its capital.
And all fruits are sourced from Jos where a
600,000hecters fruit farm is situated

I sat back and imagined what Gombe would look like
if our crude revenue was duly utilized to convert Kofa
Gamji (wildlife park) into one of the world's to 10
wildlife tourist centers with temperature controlled
zoos that can accommodate Penguins, Dolphin and
Bears so on.

I sat back and imagined the world's largest roller
coaster sitting around the curves of Olumo Rock in
Ogunstate. Attracting thousands of tourist around
Nigeria.

I sat back and imagine Onitsha bustling with activities
as goods and products are produced and chucked out
in mass to Primark UK, Apple USA... from its 2 state
owned cargo airport and artificial sea port thats
connected to the world's 2nd largest canal (Niger
Canal) that connects ships from the Atlantic way up
through Onitsha through Benue through Abuja to Kano
Sea Port (an artificial sea port) were Tons of Ground
nuts, Cotton from other neighboring northern states
are being exported abroad.

I sat back and imagined what a state like Benue
would look like if we built the world's biggest yam
silos in Otukpo...from our Crude revenue.
I imagined.

I imagined embarking on a one week family holiday to
Kebbi state were Africa's first 9star aquatic hotel and
the world's biggest underwater world zoo is been
commissioned to kick start the UN recognized,
commonwealth endorsed fishing festival. Argungu
festival. The event was covered by our rebranded
globally recognized new station NTA.

I imagined taking a ride to visit my peeps on our high
speed train that linked over 6000 passengers daily
from Lagos to Ibadan in just 30minute.
I imagined forgetting I owned a car in lasgidi as I rode
on our wifi GPRS controlled taxi from Surulere to
Lekki...

I imagined having to explain to my grand children
what a generator looked like.
Yes I imagined.
But in the midst of my euphoria.... reality dawned
when PHCN sized the light.
Deep sigh...
...and I ask, will my imagination ever become my
reality or will my reality remain a fragment of my
imagination?
? ? ?

God Has Blessed Nigeria. Its up to us to enjoy or
endure that blessing.
