What could be the magnitude of prestige if as WHO declared Nigeria an ebola free nation, we also are declared a corruption free nation?

The outrageous political ebola virus in Nigeria, which is conjuring up fear around the world has its origin traced back to 1914, when Nothern and South were almagamated.

Ebola is a deadly infectious virus but political ebola virus (corruption) is diagnosed to be more deadlier, more venomous. The virus is a militating infection that has obsessed virtually all Nigerian sectors to the detriment of our development.

The survey says by 2015, if Nigerians could not judiciously exercise their civic right to eliminate, checkmate, quarantine, subdue and control the epidemic engulfing Nigeria, the nemesis would be more deadly than what we've experienced since 1999!

This Virus appears to have become a permanent feature of the Nigerian polity. It had become completely institutionalized, entered into the realm of culture and the value-system; it is now a norm and no longer an aberration. The young ones are born into it, grow up in it, live with it, and possibly die in it. The aged are not left out as they are re-socialized and begin to conform to it.

Here are the Seven Ways Through Which The Virus Is transmitted:

1) Lust: can be best exemplified on the intense desires of politicians for money, fame or power. The will to do everything to obtain a borrowed comfort and glory at the expense of the people. This is what triggers abuse to satisfy their cravings eventuating to pseudo-concerns instead of genuine public service.

Indicators: the promises for progress and development via political platforms and party principles; term extensions and uninterrupted political dynasties.

2. Gluttony: as an over- indulgence interpreted as selfishness, essentially placing concern with one's interests above the well-being or interests of others. That with their power and authority, most of them believed that they are not well compensated to maintain their living standards of prominence. Everything is not enough for them.

Indicators: accepting bribes, monetary cuts on projects and even gifts and donations from dubious people in exchange of favors.

3. Greed: a sin of excess is a rapacious desire and pursuit of material possessions. Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by Greed.

Indicators: plunder cases of public figures, the Pork Barrel System, Overpricing of Infrastructure projects, etc.

4. Sloth: as aside from laziness as emphasized is also defined as failure to do things that one should do. By the definition, "evil exists when good men fail to act.' Lawmakers are apprehensive on destroying the unlikely traditions that breed corruption and instead employ deception on political bickering and selective persecution to make it appear that they are bent for political transformation.

Indicators: selective persecution and smug complacency on concerns for chastisement on erring peers.

5. Wrath "rage": is described as inordinate feelings of hatred and anger which can originate to selfishness for envy and competition.

Indicators: lingering feud between political clans resulting to violence, political vendetta and enmities among political parties evolving to character
assassinations.

6. Envy: characterized by an insatiable desire "to deprive others of theirs" as more directed to status.

Indicators: Policies were not sustained,
since they were initiated by their predecessors. Pulling down and unreasonable opposition to struggling reformists. False ideologies for group survival and political patronage.

7. Pride: this is considered the original and most serious of the seven deadly virus agents, and the source of others on the notion of love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for others. That while everybody has it, it is most wanting to politicians.
.....
Nigerians, there is no doubt that all our politicians are infected with the epidemic ebola virus, ravaging our economy and unleaching hardship as a direct outcome of democratic dividends deprivation.

Are we going to continue like this? How and when are we going to be ratified as a corruption free nation?
