This week’s Showdown features two top Nollywood
actresses. They are ‘bad’ gals, Halima Abubakar and
Tonto Dike.

Once upon a time, Halima was Nollywood’s baddest
girl. That was when she did a nude calendar job for a
magazine in the early 2000s. However, by 2006,
another ‘bad’ gal had emerged in Nollywood, her
name was Tonto Dike. Thanks to Next Movie Star
(NMS) 2006. Ever since, the actress has proved that
there are no barriers she will not surmount to express
a role including going nude and acting romantic roles.

While Tonto has been lambasted for her role in a soft
core movie entitled, Dirty Secret and for smoking and
drinking, Halima had received knocks for posing nude
for a calendar job which she did in the early 2000. Her
recent role in new lesbian movie has only revived her
bad gal image. Today, the pair go head-to-head as
Nigerians determine who is the weirder of the pair.

HALIMA ABUBAKAR:
Halima Abubakar is a graduate of Sociology and an
Igbira from Kogi State. She attended diferent primary
and secondary schools in Kano, Kastina, Kogi and
Lagos States respectively before moving to Bayero
University, Kano, from where she graduated. A strong
supporter of orphans, Halima is also a United Nations
Ambassador for Peace and Kogi State Youth
Ambassador. She started acting at 14 but got her first
Nollywood role in 2001 when she featured
in Rejected . She hit the limelight shortly after
in Gangster Paradise and Area Mama . Some of her
awards include City People Best Actress Award, News
of the People’s Best Actress Awards , Best Actress
HITV Seasoned Awards and Best Supporting
Actress, Afro Hollywood Award s among others. Her
movie credits include Hunting and Never Let Go to
mention a few.
TONTO DIKEH:
Tattoo girl, Tonto Charity Dikeh, is an actress, singer
and songwriter. A graduate of Petrochemical
Engineering from the Rivers State University of
Science and Technology (RUST), she is often considered as Igbo by many but far from that, Tonto Charity Dikeh hails from the
Ikwerre ethnic nationality in Rivers State. In 2005, Tonto emerged the
second runner-up at a popular reality TV show, The
Next Movie Star (NMS). She joined Nollywood shortly
afterwards. Today, she is one of Nollywood’s most
sought after actresses and has featured in numerous
movies including Dangerous Beauty, Tea or Coffee,
Away Match, Night WithThe King, Mortal
Desire and Dirty Secret to mention a few. Her singles
include Hi, It’s Ova and Crazically featuring Terry G
and Sugar Rush among others. As a child, Tonto
developed a special interest in acting and was
inspired by Hollywood icons, Julia Roberts and Al
Pacino.
